It's not exactly a lootbox, but there's this seasonal "scratch" system with a chance of getting random item.

So yeah, it'll never be available in NL & BE.
Right, right. I think I read about that at some point.
Maybe that new PSO will avoid it.

The scratch system is the big money maker of PSO2, NGS is almost certainly gonna keep that system, especially since NGS is gonna be inside the current PSO2 (both games will be in the same client, switching between them will be like switching between lobbies).

I'm cautiously optimistic bout Squadron's campaign but what I saw of the flight model really leaves me cold. After having played Elite I can really confirm that things with baked and inconsistent capabilities instead of a simulated approach really don't work for me in terms of immersion. It makes no bloody sense and I've played these games long enough that I can instantly tell. The other issue is that I'm not sure it makes for very interesting dogfighting.

Let's see how it goes anyway but I'm a bit sad that so few sims tries to go the simulation route anymore.

for Monthly challenge I suggest the Pacifist achievement for Deus Ex Mankind Divided - and for Monthly retro I suggest Venetica (because I've been replaying it a bit and its still a nice game)

The secret of Monkey Island released thirty years ago on 15th of October 1990.
Probably a better pick then, yeah.

Watched the debate on youtube this morning. Yeah... as expected, you might be kinda fucked, US people.

One's still the better option though (not by his own merits).

And is this Hardcore Mecha good ?

Speaking of Mecha, still waiting on a Daemon X Machina sale. This is ridiculous.

Toying with the 31 days of horror thing. There sure are a lot of things I could watch read etc.
That being said, it seems awfully over the top, 31 fucking days.

Are there other 31 days of something in the year btw ?

Only watched a 15 minutes recap, but my jaw dropped when the president told u.s. white supremacists to stand by.
And I don't even know why I'm still surprised.

I'm almost afraid to mention then how many people, especially this year, actually did 61 days of Horror (starting in September 1st). :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:
Or how some do 40 days for some reason.

By the way, this is all about having fun. :)
The "rules" are only as tough as you want them to be. The idea is basically to watch thematic content during the month of October. And it doesn't need to be straight horror, "macabre" or monster themed content (like say The Addams Family, or even Scooby-Doo; you can be sure I'll be watching Scooby-Doo next month :blobcheer:) is perfectly appropriate, or Halloween special episodes of some sitcoms, or The Simpsons.
For some people, the idea is to watch as many films as possible during the 31 days (meaning, they don't watch stuff every single day).
For some people, the idea is to watch at least one film a day, or at least some thematic content every single day (which is what I go for, not always successfully). ;)

Decide your own rules, and have fun.

Next month should be interesting in terms of Ex-EGS exclusives coming to Steam and GOG (in some cases)

Here are a few:

Kine
Afterparty
Outer Worlds
Surviving the Aftermath
Manifold Garden
Cardpocalypse
Falcon Age

Yeah, this is what I would opt for, I think. It allows to mix movies, comics, books etc. while still being thematic. The downside is it's not really the same thing as everyone else, but 31 movies, dayum.

Although our Star Wars opinions are light years apart (and our horror tastes may be as well), I start "Horror" things the first weekend of Autumn. So I'm a '40 day' person.

I do focus mostly on the weekends for the celebration of the season, just so I don't burn out by mid October.

Ok the platforming in Touryst suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. A room resets every time you fail, and the one I'm in now has three jumps that you easily fail. Shame for otherwise a nice game.

Ah, I finally got those 40 day celebrations then. ;)
It now makes sense.

As for burning out, thankfully I have such variety of films (between recent purchases I saved for the season, and stuff I bought just to watch in October) I usually have a great time. In the last 2-3 years I barely watched anything, so this year I intend to go big, and return to my successful runs. The current circumstances help, since there's still a lot of places closed, and a lot of limitations, big or small, in place.

I don't have anything mapped out, just a whole lot of films at hand, and I watch whatever fits my mood. :)
I mean, I have 2 new boxsets with Gialli films that I reserved just for the month, a whole bunch of Dario Argento films I want to re-watch (my wife never saw them), I have 80's/90's horror films of various types (like The Dark Half, Cat's Eye, Nightbreed, Creepshow 2, ...), good old Hammer films, Classic Universal Monsters films from the early 1900's (and other older efforts like Boris Karloff's The Ghoul, from 1933), ozploitation films, Mexican horror films, 70's Drive-In classics (The Town That Dreaded Sundown, ...), Spanish thrillers, Scooby-Doo animation films (I even bought the latest direct-to-video film, Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!, featuring Elvira), and more.
I even bought a few recent horror films, because my wife keeps asking me "don't you have anything more modern to watch?" ( :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes: ), like Midsommar (Director's Cut), Hereditary, Us, Don't Breathe, and the Child's Play reboot/remake from 2019 (which I'm sure to dislike ).

it can be quite frustrating. Was close to giving up on it a few times. The game is very uneven in its difficulty.

I played Manifold Garden on Apple Arcade and it was incredible. Really scratched that itch Antichamber and Portal left.

A gentleman and a scholar :coffee-blob:
You reminded me I should read Cabal by Barker. Not certain Nightbreed isn’t too much for me gore wise. The sequences with the killer could be too much.

I've been playing a shitton of Genshin Impact these past 2 days. It's great fun. I really wish it wasn't gacha -- so far all the F2P stuff was completely and entirely unnecessary, but it would be even more enjoyable if I didn't have that nagging feeling that at some point they'll start to make it purposefully grindy. In terms of quality I don't see why they couldn't sell this as a normal full-priced game. (But that probably makes less money, ultimately :/)
