There's also going to be a long tail on this one as the patches and updates roll in and the new RTX and PS5/XSXS gain ground.
I wonder if it will have Witcher legs tho?

Played as streetkid for 3hrs now and its soooo good wtf. This really is that dream Deus Ex game people wanted for a long time.

I hate that the game has photo mode. I mean I love it but just like with RDR2 it is such a distraction and time sink once you get obsessed with the world. And 2077 is so fucking immersive. There is so much to take in. First time now I wish I had a widescreen monitor and I don't even know if this game supports it haha. Dammit now I have to shop around.

Also if they patch in VR support for this game as DLC or something....wheeew VR headsets would probably be sold out for years.

Is the Playnite link with the different service providers more stable than GOG Galaxy ?
From experience, yes. But I don't use it with games not installed so I haven't got loads of experience.

In terms of installed games, Playnite will just scan for installed games when you want (or at launch). It's never asked me to login again once I've done it for the first time on said PC.

It's about that time... for folks to spoil surprise announcements at the game awards.

I think it's not too crazy to think that the split is.

2M on Steam
1.5-2M on GOG
rest on EGS
I wonder if the breakdown has changed a lot since Summer 2019. I think CDPR said 1/3 of PC preorders were GOG.

Photo mode is absolutely wonderful, yeah. And I'm about to dive back in as corp, it's just crazy good.

Also,
Alright, I have paid for a month (5.49€) of Geforce Now to try RTX.
Do tell how it runs! It's okay-ish on Shadow but if there's a way to play it at ludicrous settings on GFN, I'm interested.

That's a very generous share for EGS. Why would close to 1 million people buy the game on EGS instead of Steam or GoG without coupon? Only reason to do do is better regional pricing in a few non-western countries. My guess is the game sold 300k on EGS at best.

Ok, so....

If this is accurate, then it means Steam might be already in about 2M copies sold alone, why? well, the game has been in the top 10 for 9 weeks in a row, 3 at number 1, if that data is from mostly 2019-early 2020 pre-orders, then the numbers now must be quite generous.

Split is even bigger than I thought.

Given 1 million concurrent I believe any estimate less than 3 million copies sold on Steam alone at this point is needlessly conservative.

(I wish I could give the game a try rather than work, but I need to finish something for tomorrow :p)

I wonder what that something is!

My position is always trying to be conservative when it comes to data, yes, 3M is the most likely scenario but I don't want to bet in that direction at 100%
That's why I gave GOG a potentially larger percentage.

AY AY AY!

A slide set and code samples about C++20 concepts to extend my lecture on advanced C++ for this year.

Don't get me wrong, that's a topic I can get really excited about, but I should have finished it sooner!
ayyyyyyyyyy indeed :persevering-face:

I have set it to RTX Ultra settings with 1080p resolution and 60 FPS cap. I would say it looks mighty good and runs perfectly fine. There were maybe a few drops from 60 fps, not sure about that as I don't have the framerate displayed on screen, but even if that is the case, this happened very rarely.

For what it is worth, the PC is connected with an Ethernet cable to the modem, which is connected through optical fiber to the Internet provider. I did not try using Wifi, because I remember the screen was often pixelated when I was playing The Witcher 3 with GFN over Wifi due to limitation and interferences.

Edit: beware of queue times though. Due to the game's exceptional popularity, there is a message saying that it is longer (~10 min) than usual.

Alright, subscribed. 5 bucks is enough to give it a shot, given that it's kind of suffering from a fair bit of input lag on Shadow. And yeah, I'm seeing the queue too.

Did you get it on Steam or GoG? I am unfamiliar how the account linking works for the later, and it never prompted me for anything other than to pick it and I wonder if it'll link with my proper GoG account, including cloud saves.

A blog update about Eastward:

However fantastic progress has been made despite these challenges throughout the year, and Pixpil are now working on Eastward’s final chapter segment, tightening some loose ends and brushing up a few boss battles

I have the game on Steam, but I believe you should be fine. Cloud saves are a necessity for Geforce Now, so it has to work!

The new DLC management window seems like it could be laid out a little more efficiently with respect to the size it takes up on screen...

The old DLC management window is also gone from the properties window after the changes to it in the new beta update.

For real? Is that actually known? I'm way more excited about Radio the Universe than Cyberpunk.

(though to be honest, it will take me till 2077 to even download Cyberpunk, and by then what's the point?)

Also: you can preorder at itch.io and it comes with a steam key.

It's interesting how GFE is a clearly superior experience for -- at least -- everyone on a last-gen console or a lower-end/older PC.
As long as they have a good internet connection that is.

I feel like more publishers should see GFE as an opportunity rather than something which they have to prevent to get streaming exclusivity deals with Google and Amazon.

Wait for Sunday around the time the daily deal refreshes. Those numbers should be nutty.

So, given CDPR's... less than stellar history as an employer/company, I wonder if any lessons will b taken from this massive launch. Like, do they look at easily 3-4 million in sales across every platform by Sunday and think 'Crunch works' and even 'transphobic pr works', or do they actually move on from this and become a better company?
Doubt it. I assume they will at least try to avoid bullshit PR debacles, though probably not take the right lessons from it, like being respectful of trans and other lgb representation. As for their work practices: they clearly have no problem finding developers who are willing to work those hours, and middle management is probably making millions after every one of their big releases. Why should they ever change?
