Notably, the largest seasonal sales of the year (Summer, Autumn, Winter) were record breaking in terms of revenue generated for developers and publishers, something we touched on in our [UWSL]recap[/UWSL] of the Autumn Sale. But it wasn't all going to the top-end: for example, there was a 36% increase in the number of games that grossed over $100k from the 2019 Winter Sale to the 2020 Winter Sale.
An interesting note: various countries' government bodies approached us and other large Internet companies to see how we could help mitigate the rise in global traffic that ISPs were seeing, because it was getting to a point where it was affecting people's ability to work from home and their children's remote schooling. In response, we made some [UWSL]changes[/UWSL] to help manage the bandwidth during work and school hours, and to defer updates to the evenings.
Now what other publishers have subscription services...We're excited about the possibilities here and look forward to seeing what other developers would like to do with this capability.
Bullshit. All they did there was take EGS graphic and add a 'M' to each of the numbers.94m to 120m

There's been a delay in the launch of PC2 which is holding up some of the plans for Video Games 2.If video games are so great, then where are video games 2?
boom checkmate gamers
At this rate, we'd need a time machine in order to go back and get the source code for this game and then re construct it for a better PC version at least :VYup. The PC ports of SR are crap.
Dreamcast emulation in general is better than most (modern!) PC ports of the games that appeared on it... also applies to a lot of N64 games.
Damn, the new Call of Duty got bigger huh.25.2 Exabytes. Now that's a number.
I mean it would have to be multiple different maps right? Why even make a Star Wars game and have it take place on one planet / biome / cityI feel like open world is a bad idea for Star Wars. Unless they mean multiple open world maps.

MS, Ubisoft and probably T2 in the near future.I noticed this tidbit under the "Subscriptions" tab:
Now what other publishers have subscription services...
Now get his ass to hurry up and OFFICIALLY announce Rare Replay on Steam.Phil Spencer seeing those numbers:
They should release Rare Replay and Viva Piñata on SteamPhil Spencer seeing those numbers:
Fairly sure current numbers include Perfect Worlds numbers (which is what will become Steam China)It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Steam China. I'm a pessimistic lad and still think Steam International will be blocked which will cause a big hit to the user numbers since many Chinese gamers won't bother with VPNs and the Steam China library won't be nearly as robust. I'd love to be wrong though.
Those Xbox numbers are actually very good all things considered. PS has been outselling them 2:1 in terms of hardware but looks like MS has a good community with Gamepass PC and Minecraft.
I surely hope notIs there any possibility that the number of Chinese games on Steam will also be lesser when the Steam China is opened? Not sure how the Chinese devs feels about the international market...
Very nice, the growth of the platform makes me very happy.
The question is how distinct Steam China and regular Steam will be. If it's very simple for Chinese devs to also offer their games on regular Steam, they why should they say no to free money? Is there any possibility that the number of Chinese games on Steam will also be lesser when the Steam China is opened? Not sure how the Chinese devs feels about the international market...
One checkbox away. The question is how distinct Steam China and regular Steam will be. If it's very simple for Chinese devs to also offer their games on regular Steam, they why should they say no to free money?
just release everything on Steam. old games, new games, console games, forgotten games, whatever games. then make a law Gabe isnt allowed to ever die or sell Steam and we're goldenThey should release Rare Replay and Viva Piñata on Steam
I wonder what they were even thinking. They drank that Sweeney Kool-aid and even after a year still not coming back. It's only a matter of time before Ubisoft crawls back to Steam.
It is on PC though.HEY CAPCOM WHERE THE FUCK IS TATSUNOKO VS CAPCOM PC!
sorry i needed that rant
Copyright nightmare. I'm surprisedit even got a US releaseHEY CAPCOM WHERE THE FUCK IS TATSUNOKO VS CAPCOM PC!

Baseless speculation on my part, but I would guess Ubisoft and Epic have some sort of long term contract. Back in 2019 Ubisoft mentioned extending its partnership with Epic.I wonder what they were even thinking. They drank that Sweeney Kool-aid and even after a year still not coming back.
Meanwhile Atlus is releasing Persona games on Steam
Sony is releasing 1st party games on Steam
EA pushing their entire catalog and subscription service on Steam
Microsoft is almost all in on Steam
Cyberpunk shattering records for singleplayer game on Steam
Meanwhile Ubisoft just sitting there missing out on hundreds of millions of dollars
Each time you post about Spelunky 2 I remember that I've hardly played the first one. I need to get on that soon.I cannot believe I managed to lose this run.
I'm not sure they are losing that much. Dropping Steam drove lots of people to uplay, giving them 100% of the profit of AC Valhalla, their best selling game ever. Also lots of people seem to buy Ubisofts games on EGS, because they are dirt cheap with all these coupons.[UWSL]Meanwhile Ubisoft just sitting there missing out on hundreds of millions of dollars [/UWSL]
It will happen. Unknown ETA tho, although I expect it to happen some time between mid 2021-mid 2022It's only a matter of time before Ubisoft crawls back to Steam.
General consensus based on multiple wording analysis (yes, some of us do this weird thing xD) is that "extending the partnership" is not based in time but individual games/waves of games.Baseless speculation on my part, but I would guess Ubisoft and Epic have some sort of long term contract. Back in 2019 Ubisoft mentioned extending its partnership with Epic.
The first game did not instantly click with me. I have played it a few times and was very disappointed (I expected a more classical platformer). Each time you post about Spelunky 2 I remember that I've hardly played the first one. I need to get on that soon.
I think you overestimate the scope, or better said, the size of the engagement driven by Ubi games on EGS, what makes you think that?I'm not sure they are losing that much. Dropping Steam drove lots of people to uplay, giving them 100% of the profit of AC Valhalla, their best selling game ever. Also lots of people seem to buy Ubisofts games on EGS, because they are dirt cheap with all these coupons.
If anything, Ubisoft is missing sales from impulse buyers during the Steam sales. But we don't know how much money these sales are making for Ubisoft compared to the revenue from uplay and EGS.
Didn't EA have exclusive rights on SW games? What am I missing?Lucasfilm Games' New Partnerships Mean the Galaxy's the Limit
