If this is real, then 11 is even uglier than 10.

The thing I fear is that I'll have to redo all the bullshit I had to wade through to have a decent-looking and not-spying OS with it. Not to mention, the possibility that this might become harder and less possible this time around.

Satya can fuck off.

Ok, so now that E3 is over (at least the big stuff) I think it's time to talk a bit about what I think about the event in general and my final impressions.

If you don't want to read the post I will just say: WE EATING!

Now for real, it is amazing how much content there was this year in all potential aspects and genres, there was a lot of variety for every type of player. Amazing AAAs, wonderful indies and a strong AA line-up that sure looks exciting, when it comes to PC, well, my only comment about EGS will be that thankfully they are getting a lot of stuff but not exclusively and that's when I start talking from Steam player perspective, HOLY SMOKES, WE GETTING A LOT OF CONTENT, DAMN!

Every single conference had a lot of Steam logos everywhere or even in press notes, we getting like, what, 90% of all what was shown? holy molly jolly, that was AWESOME, my wishlist sure looks more packed than before hehe.

From a personal perspective my most excited announcements are:
-Elden Ring
-A Plague Tale Requiem
-Somerville
-Fatal Frame PC debut
-SMT V
-Advance Wars remakes
and more...

Do you mean the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? The one with a free trial up to level 60 including the Heaveansward Expansion?
I have never played the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV before. Do you think I should give the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV which includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn & the award-winning Heavensward Expansion a try?

Fatal Frame eh. I remember being mildly curious about one of those at some point.
Here's hoping for at least a passable port from KT.

Also interested in a new 2D Metroid.

I don't absolutely hate the Win11 look. I mean I'm still probably going to use OpenShell for the start menu, but hey. I'll give it a shot. Suppose it depends on what kind of program folder it has.

Forget about the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV and just wait for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. It will be a much better game.

Excited for a few things from this E3, but not hopeful i'll get off FF long enough to enjoy them lol.

FF Origins is an interesting one. I want to know the twist, but these characters tho... those are not my Warriors of Light. 😭 Those are FFXV extras. Even their fashion, wtf, is it an Isekai? And why these dorks talking about Chaos in the first place... what about the 4 fiends and all the time travel stuff? 🤔

Oof, I don't think anyone's complaining; it's just about our systems getting older while upgrading is difficult.
Go check any forum other than this place, and it's lots of complaining.
There is a reason that games like "Crysis" don't really exist on PC anymore. Games that push the technical limitations of the current time.

If you didn't get applause it's not because you don't deserve applauce or recognition its because I'm stupid also ( I noticed that error before I finished for applause+ apple sauce sounded funny to me so I left it in)

Windows 11 has already made me depressed. :confounded-face:

Edit:

The taskbar looks better here at least...
I like this a lot. I'm generally not resistant to change and this doesn't look bad, like Windows 8 was, just different.

I'm sure everyone will get used to it and then moan about Windows 12 in 6-7 years.

Wait WHAT

I thought Fatal Frame was basically a Nintendo franchise now, can't fucking wait
Didn't realize it was coming to PC either. Awesome! I emulated one of these games a few years ago (I think it was FF2 for the Wii) and loved it, was genuinely scary.

Also, I can't sell cards because I haven't bought anything on steam in a year, didn't even know that's a thing.

That rounded design is absolutely horrendous, I refuse to believe this is real.
Looks like Gnome 40. Good to see Microsoft is taking cues from decent desktop environments.
Wonder if virtual workspaces will get an upgrade too. You still can't move windows easily (via keyboard shortcuts) between them, which kinda defeats the point.
Of course, it's not like I'm using Windows for actually doing work, so I don't really have a stake in all this.

Win11? What abot win10 is forever, os as a service lmao.

ui - same lazy flat shit as win10, same fonts, round corners.
How do we warrant new os version?
Let's make windows with curved corners.
Good enough, let's go boyz.

Still the GOAT
You know I pressed start and that flower avatar is the one:steam_pigblanket:

I don't mind the look but kinda seems like we're losing functionality. Right now in Win10 if I hit start, I have my entire programs list (basically OG start menu) there to scroll wheel through, and then pinned stuff to the right. I don't see the program list at all there unless it's through another click which sucks. I hated that in older Windows

Microsoft could've made an operating system with W7 UI, the performance and responsiveness of W8.1 and modern features (DX12, HDR) of W10, but seems like the future consumer version of Windows will ultimately be known as a telemetry collection platform with another sorry excuse for Material Design. I mean, who needs a Start Menu which takes half the screen?

Really not looking forward to the untold amount of hours customising it just to make it usable for my use case. Well, hopefully those Powershell scripts will be updated to support W11 or whatever silly name they'll come up with.

Why console fanboys always need to proclaim their platform winning E3? THE REAL WINNERS ARE PLAYERS, GODAMNNIT!

I am still recovering from the Nintendo Direct. It was packed-full with games that I am excited to play. Can't believe they bought back Advance War and Metroid, just like that. These amazing announcements, with all those fantastic games we saw last few days, players are going to EAT!

I think the real reward Nintendo might be reaping from the switch being so underpowered is games with a development cycle far shorter than the rest of the AAA industry.

$60 USS for 2 remastered GBA games!!!!!;

I think Nintendo is one of the only companies that can get away with that

$60 got you Mario64,Sunshine, and Galaxy and those were bear bones ports. The music thing was cool though. Sucks how it was not its own separate thing though
