Tempted by the Sinking City. I know it's not the cool move, but whatever. It stands to logic that Frogwares still earns something from purchases, and if Nacon is proven wrong in court they will have to compensate them. Only downside is no story DLC.
But then again the other legit route is no achievement and a generally much heavier price tag.

Terminator would be coolio too, but it's not that cheap.

The difficulty spike in Valheim after the 2nd boss is real.

Running through a swamp being chased by 6 enemies while slowly dying of poison and arrows being shot at you left n right. The game is incredible.

I guess this is where the real Valheim begins. The Dark Souls of Valheim :evilblob:

And somehow NISA has made Ys IX be the most expensive Falcom game that I've ever bought to date. Even more expensive than Kekmo's Atelier Ryzas. And I bought those Ateliers on day one. PH3 should be paid handsomely for their efforts, but this regional pricing is just another example of publisher's greed: how to make people not wanting to buy your games ever again. :flare_pout:
Yeah same, with the -18% from Fanatical I could barely justify it, but Euroland doesn't really have it that bad compared to other regions.
I'm still not really sure what the gameplan is, because "make things more expensive so that we earn more money" is.... not how these things work. You'd think those studied business people that get payed to know their shit would understand simple economics, but apparently none of these do and I fail to comprehend the end-game here.

That said, the game and port are great. Some of those "better than console" settings are indeed pretty demanding, as Durante said so I had to make a decision between all the eye-candy or 140 fps.
Chose the fps :steam_pigblanket:
(It still looks pretty good, I just had to stick to 1440p instead of supersampling and compromised a bit on the shadow settings. Those soft shadows take off quite a bunch of FPS. My graphics card is now lagging behind the rest of my PC, hopefully prices get good again and I can upgrade to a 3070 Super or 4070 soon )

140 fps Ys is so good.

I think I'll hold off on Ys IX for a while. I want to focus on the Trails games a bit after I'm done with Azure, and juggling multiple Falcom games at the same time is a bit much for me.

Great to read up all that info on the port though. It's nice to have IX running on PC great on day one, as opposed to the mess that was VIII.

Just get the game off a grey key market
Or if gamesplanet has it discounted
Get it from there.

Oh yeah, for sure. It's a fairly long game as well after all.
For me the timing was pretty good, cause I just finished the Code Vein main story yesterday. Still need to do the DLC maps there which I started and will try to finish over the weekend, but there's no story stuff there as far as I know so it's not that important.

If all the rumors of SteamPal and it using Van Gogh are true its gonna be so much more powerful than the Switch since Nintendo is holding off on next iteration for now.

Valve is gonna price this thing so high. I can already see 600$+

Gabe pls don't :surrenderblob:
i'm not a TV salesman or anything but

And that's the trick behnd it all. You think it's gonna be expensive: 600 dollars, 650, 500, you. are. WRONG. The target price? 400 dollars.
I can already see you through the screen bickering and thinking that this ain't possible, but I am here to tell you that it. is. possible.
on a real note, the AMD Van Gogh has a focus on being cheap to buy, not drain your battery, and still be strong enough to work
the guy who said the codename to the apu and got it right said the target price was around 400 dollars so

FYI

The devs has currently no plans for Steam release as they are fully working on their next game, things can change, they do want a Steam release, but they are now focusing on their next game.

Probably will change by time exclusivity runs out as soon after.

Can you even still redeem EGS keys for that game ? :thinking-face:
Because grey market keys are 100% EGS, the first Steam one begins at 74 euros. And it's 42 euros on Gamesplanet.

To be clear, I'm not sure even 15 euros is wise right now, so this is a speculative purchase, but if Nacon is in the wrong I don't doubt they will have to pay Frogwares. And if Frogwares is in the wrong, well fuck that noise. Again, very very hypothetical purchase.

I survived! Just had the certification process. Almost two hours of being grilled by two industry specialists. Can’t say I’m fully confident in my chances of passing but it didn’t go horribly wrong.
Congratulations! You did freaking awesome. Also, is it me or you are taking on a photography master's and doing this at the same time?

Ah yeah, well not exactly at the same time, photography masters starts next month!:D But I still do photography every day, which will part of the masters. Would be nice to pass the app development thing, but I have small feeling I won't, and it isn't that big of a deal, I can redo the certification in one year, even one year after again if I need.

Downunder.
Ys IX is indeed running like a dream. The 2x supersampling still brought my aging 1080Ti to its knees (as it should), but without supersampling it's pretty much 144fps at 1440p with extremely consistent frametimes.

Looking forward to playing it in earnest after I've finished CS IV. :flare_lmao:

Shame, it looks okay and at a budget price i'd probably have given it a whirl. I don't mind "drab graphics" the designs look fine and the gameplay seems decent. Just a shame i never heard of it because it's in my blindspot on EGS.

Watching franchise that means a lot for you being butchered over the years is really painful. I guess that me being fan of AC games came to an end. This is not franchise that I fell in love anymore and it looks like that things will be even worse.

We’re pretty excited about making today’s build available to you – it contains a few pretty significant changes, including Co-Op! Below is a brief highlight to help break it all down:
  • Co-Op is now live!
You can read more about this new feature here: [UWSL]Co-Op Has Arrived[/UWSL]!
  • Empire Wars
now lives in the Ranked queue.
  • We've made
    CaptureAge
easier than ever to use by adding UI support in Spectate (including in-game)/Replay menus.
  • Lots and lots and lots of
    bug fixes
    - these patch notes are long!
  • Balance
    changes!

The though of putting even more time in a Assassin's Creed game is not a pleasant one. While I did put 200+ hours on Odyssey (in a "go around the map clearing icons while hearing a podcast or something" way) it did burn me out and when Valhalla didn't click with me I got bored really fast.

And thats before putting the GaaS thing into consideration. Great, another game wanting all your time and attention - resources that have a hard limit. After managing to stop my Destiny 2 addiction in the middle of last year, I have been really enjoying actually finishing games, even if they are long open world ones, and moving on to the next one.

No fucking way I'm going back to "I have to put some hours in this game today because I need to finish this task before the end of week to progress in the Battlepass". I understand the allure of it all with the comfort of familiarity and constant sense of progression, but that's not a hole I want to jump back in.

So I guess I'm also out of the Assassin's Creed series.... sigh.... Origins appeared to be a really good turning point... but Ubi is going to Ubi I guess :p

Fuck, live-service AC is the worst. Im not sure if I can do another live-service game unless it's developed by Odyssey/Immortals people.

Well you wouldn't have played it regardless due to only being on UPlay, so it's not like it has much consequences for you?

I was excited for Bloodroots, but then I forgot it existed after the EGS deal. This is why I Gamepass™
Lol, what a terrible month. Also recently bought FarmSim19 on Steam, wonder if game pass will include expansion, but I guess not.

Mobile games like Animal Crossing and the DS game Tomodachi Life cured me of the attraction of Live-Service Games.
After a while even the FOMO disappeared and i realised i play games for fun not for some carrot-on-a-stick daily login thing that became more like work and i would get sad that i didn't login daily. Good on people that can do it but i just burn out after a while.

SP Offline Games 4 Lyfe, Baby!

Also, given how they mutilated Might and Magic X with SP features that required Server Authentication that meant you couldn't access paid-for content when they took the servers down. Content they were still happy to charge for until a week or so after they took the servers down knowing that people wouldn't be able to access it means that Ubisoft can do one. I have a couple of games on U-play but i only spent day-one money on Fenix. Everything else was either free or i spent maybe £4 on it.
