Yeah. I hear the Epic client doesn't have this problem. :grinning-face:
Well, you don't have to worry about your friends knowing about your lewd games, but on the other hand Epic will know about them (and how much you play them) regardless of profile privacy settings :)

Actually since Steam fully supports adult games now, it would be nice to have a setting not to publish anything about them on activities, profile page, etc. People don't need to know that for some reason I bought a Sakura bundle in 2017 (I really can't remember why )

I was going to defend myself by saying that I haven't touched them but then I remembered that I'm currently replaying The Ur-Quan Masters (which will not help me completing more games this year btw) that has this ship in it:

So... never mind...

I also don't have it installed and did not remove it manually. The only one appearing is the one that "fixed" the problems: KB4489899. Don't know if that includes everything from the previous one or not. So... can't be really of much help except saying I'm on the same boat.

Well that's installed. I guess depending on one's region, some updates download.

Unfortunately half of the discussion is about Epic and the other half congratulating Ascheroth Which is a good thing to do :D
Well, the Game Developers Conference starts today, so things should pick up a bit with new announcements.

Who am I kidding, we'll probably continue talking about Epic. :grinning-face:

Pre-ordered Sekiro, and Generation Zero today.

I don't want to bring up Epic's name yet again, but I really have to thank them.
Before the month started, I was interested in: Left Alive, The Division 2, Devil May Cry 5, Operencia, Outward, Eternity: The Last Unicorn, Generation Zero, Sekiro, and the new Pinball FX3 Williams DLC.

I would obviously have to skip some games, so I was prepared to skip Sekiro, Eternity: The Last Unicorn, and Generation Zero (and maybe more).
But, thanks to Epic, I ended up saving money by not purchasing The Division 2 (I was going for the most expensive edition), Operencia, and I won't purchase the Pinball FX3 Williams DLC either (same developer as Operencia), so I ended up managing to afford to buy the other games, and even added a couple more games/DLCs to the list. :giggle:

How cool is it when a company makes my purchasing decisions a lot easier?

Epic: saving gamer's money since December 2018. :grinning-face:

Anyone here played Fate/EXTELLA? I have zero knowledge about Fate things, and have been wondering if I could jump in Extella or if it's better watch something before.
I think † Echo † is our resident Fate/Extella expert.
I would like to know this as well: Should one have played Fate/Extra before Extella, and is Extra good? (I only saw a few eps of the Extra anime, but that is apparently something way different from the game?)
I guess you don't have to play EXTRA before Extella, but it certainly... benefits your understanding of the situation? Maybe you could make-do with a really well done plot summary like over here:
If you are completely new to the Fate/ universe though... wew, oh boy. I mean they throw a lot of terminology around and expect you to know that stuff already. Though the games do try and help by having an encyclopedia of sorts built-in, but FF XIII had one of those too and most couldn't be bothered to read it. o_O

Being totally new the franchise, I guess the easiest thing to do would be starting with Fate/Stay Night (probably the anime is the most acessible version) and then after that if your interest is piqued enough, start digging through articles on Type-Moon wiki to familiarize yourself with lore and whatnot.

looks like someone's getting ready to buy all those animu games :smirking-face:
heh. this is why it's better to be shameless about these things. I buy whatever, and if my friends activity feed doesn't like it, well, hope you know how to remove friends! :p

It is, just not in the west.
Despite its flaws, in Japan PSO2 is far more popular than any of the previous games.
I wish they would re-release Phantasy Star Online - Episodes 1 and 2 on Steam, with improved resolutions and some tweaks.
The soundtrack is awesome, a personal favourite.

It's an embarrassing episode, completely out of character, but once, while I was in bed sick with a fever, I was bored to tears, so I decided to start playing the original Phantasy Start Online on my Dreamcast (single-player). I lost completely track of time, and only noticed when my mother brought me a meal that I had been playing for... 27 straight hours!
I can assure you I never done something even remotely close to it ever again. :giggle:

didn't they ban all eu folks that were playing it? That's more than a flaw
Years ago the servers suffered a large DDoS attack, as a result SEGA IP blocked most connections from outside of Japan. I don't remember how long the IP block lasted, but at the very least it was less than a year (western players accounts weren't banned though, during that time I was able to still use a VPN to play).

At the moment, only some Southeast Asia countries are still locked, everywhere else can still access the game, no IP block, no bans.
(Source myself, I'm European and I've been playing since the Alpha 2 test back in early 2012).

But yeah, about PSO2 being alive and well, there's even official live events where people go see competitions (be it time attack races, pvp arena or cosplay contests) and new annoucements.

I wish they would re-release Phantasy Star Online - Episodes 1 and 2 on Steam, with improved resolutions and some tweaks.

An official enhanced PSOBB (Episode 1, 2 and 4) release would be nice, yeah, though, there is a private server for PSOBB with several enhancements, like widescreen support, high resolution support, and other game related enhancements:

huh... Dharker Studios on why they don't just drop Steam, despite the inconsistency in game bans.

Valve are doing what they have to, to protect themselves from legal action, the truth is setting an adult hentai game in a college with school uniforms is a grey area. They have decided they dont want to risk the legal issues of releasing such a game, it is a fairly reasonable position to take, if it were your business and livlihood you might do the same, indeed I will do the same moving forward removing such content and settings from my future games.

As for distributing it elsewhere instead of Steam, I technically could, but here is the problem, this game cost around £40,000 to produce, Kickstarter raised roughly £15,000 (less if we remove the cost of physical rewards and shipping) leaving a loss to produce of £25,000. Simply put all over platforms sell at most 1000-2000 units over a 3 month period from release. Less beyond that after fees and taxes we would be lucky to break even. The point is we require steam to reach a broader larger audience to make a profit. Thus I have to take that into account.

Also most of those smaller companies don't have automatic sales figures online, as such I wont use them, the only platforms I would be willing to sell it on are: Itch.io, Nutaku and Humble Store (humble store isnt an option as its a key reseller mainly) and the other two are far too small time to sell on their own. To make a profit which as a business I need to do, I have to adjust the game and sell it on steam.

I dont want to sell multiple versions of the same game, which is why I am not selling My Girlfriend as it is on Nutaku and then an alternate version of that game on Steam under a different name. I feel it would be best to simply have a single version of the game under a single name out there on all platforms.

There's a Unity GDC live stream going on right now, where they have shown footage of a number of upcoming games.
Many mobile titles, but it may be worth a look:
