Finished the Iceborne story!
Yeah I know that's when Monster Hunter games actually "start", but it's a nice milestone (and I'll consider it "done" for the current Backlog Blitz, but I'm most definitely going to play more).
Honestly probably one of my all time favorite games. The amount of quality content coupled with super high production values is kind of insane to be honest.

Just finished The Surge 2 and it's incredible how much of an improvement it is over the original, it's actually hard to believe it was made by the same people. The first game was rather mediocre but had some neat ideas but the sequel is actually a pretty good game that I feel comfortable recommending.
I particularly liked how every zone looped back into itself and that a single medbay (bonfire equivalent) can serve the whole zone from start to finish. The combat is a lot smoother and the animations much more clearer making it possible to parry and make a build around it, which was nigh impossible in the first game.
The only minor downfalls I can think of, and they really are nitpicky, is the limited number of weapon types and the fact the city turns out to be rather small and claustrophobic, everything is within an arm's reach.

its really quite incredible how fast this game just seemed to burn out

right now I couldn't really give a shit about updates to it
I don't think they themselves have learned anything or are even trying to learn.
That links to a load of crap on a page written as if its not patchnotes but some kind of news. I read some and had no idea AT ALL what they were babbling about.
Just give me the patch notes and have zero "I think I'm clever" while doing it, thanks.....

standard patchones will come later like last time .... it even mentiones whole stream at the end abou it on 19th .... but yeah

I don't think they themselves have learned anything or are even trying to learn.
i kinda think this kind of vringy things part of some old marketing deal they made that no longer made sence , but they have to do it to fullfill some contract ..... or they are just trying to intentionaly enrage the hatevagon again in way of "bad marketing ... also marketing"

I pay 100 USD a month for this. But by God, it is so fucking worth it. The only other option when we moved in was 35 a month, but way too slow for two people who're constantly using Youtube/Twitch.
No TV or anything, we don't need that, but it does come with HBO Max which has been a nice thing to find out.

Diablo 3 question. How do i reset my account? I want to start fresh without money or stuff.
Make a seasonal character every season! All problems solved. Plus you get bonus cosmetic stuff and usually a fun seasonal thingy (in this season, ethereals).

Otherwise I think you'd have to go in, manually dump everything, and you'd still have upgraded crafting stations and shared storage.

It's still winter here but next week we will be reaching ~30c to 33c already, don't even know last time I saw a storm or even just more than 5 minutes of rain.

God this year is going to be hell.

Is Mortal Shell any good?
IMO, I'd strongly advise against it. I bought the Series X version to avoid supporting EGS, and I absolutely hated it.

A Eurojanky Souls-like with questionable controls and generally poor game balancing, you should only ever consider this if you've exhausted all your other Souls-adjacent options (all the From games, The Surge, even Lords of the Fallen), and even then only on a deep sale.

Man, I had gotten so good at not buying games unless I want to actually play them immediately but in the last month or so I've fallen back into old habits pretty hard...

"Oh, Melty Blood is only five bucks!"
"10 bucks for Zone of the Enders 2? Absolutely!"
"Cool, a Metal Slug pack!"
"Oh wow, only 8 dollars for Mega Man Legacy Collection 2!"
"Historical low for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle? Gotta grab that!"

Throw in a few pricier things that I actually want to play soon like the FF Pixel Remasters and MHW Iceborne and this shit adds up pretty quickly lol. 😅
I really need to stop and not buy anything else until FFIV...

I feel you, I had managed to curb the irrational buying of stuff off Steam for a while (mostly replaced by the irrational buying of stuff on Xbox), but the announcement of the Deck has seen my habitual Steam buying return with a vengeance.

"Oh wow, what a great deal. I'd love to play this on the go in the future, and I get the "full-fat PC version" for free in the meantime. click" o_O

Another thing causing me to reallocate more of my "game budget" to Steam as of late: the rise of bad regional pricing has also triggered in me an inherent need to support publishers who do offer decent to good regional pricing. Like, the pub is doing me a solid by giving me the game at launch for a reasonable price, I want to return the favor by not waiting for a deep sale and not cutting into their profit margins any further. That stance has unfortunately led to some purchases of games that, while I definitely want to play them, I'm not very likely to in the near future. :face-with-cold-sweat:

Things that help me:
  • Unsubscribe from stores email promotions and or game deals groups on steam.
  • Stop going to gg.deals or similar sites.
  • Lowest price for that game I wishlist that maybe I'm interested in? Check the demo first, or watch a recent review/gameplay video if there's no demo.

This is the big one for me. The FF Pixel Remasters gave me an itch for retro JRPGs so I've been constantly checking the SaGa and Mana games on gg.deals. And while I'm here I guess I'll sync my wishlist real quick and see if there's anything interesting and oooooh. It's like back in the days when I'd be cosntantly browsing r/gamedeals... I set up alerts to get an email if they match their historical low prices so I should just stop going on the website altogether hahaha.

Holy shitballs, there's a Steam Link app for Windows now???
Well, it may soon be time to lay my Steam Link hardware to rest... Now all I'd need is a Big Picture mode that isn't such a resource hog, mainly for using the Steam Controller keyboard with said laptop.

Lost Heroes 2 is kicking my ass
The first one, outside of the super bosses at the end and maybe the final boss, was on the scale of easy to a normal difficulty. The biggest change here in the sequel in why these bosses feel so hard is:
  • They get multiple attacks per phase/turn
  • Most seem to summon adds
For where I am right now, I just killed Devil Gundam - who summons adds that just waste my SP and you can't leave them alive because they hurt like hell - and then right after, you get Master Gundam with no healing inbetween.

I got Master Gundam to about 1/3 HP, then he turned Gold, started regenerating abut 500HP a turn, his speed went up so he went first, and he got more turns. He went first with about 4 or 5 nonstop attacks and massacred my whole party :anguished-face:

More than half the bosses so far have been me banging my head against the wall, changing builds, changing party members for 10+ tries.

I can do this!

Nevermind....

This might be a stupid question... But why? Is it just to reduce the resource overhead from running the main Steam client?

I mean the Steam client itself has supported streaming from one computer to another for years and years now.

🤔

EDIT: Worth mentioning that in this thread they point out that their previous steam releases (Dandy Dungeon and Black Bird) didn't do that well. Though I feel like they'd do much better with Moon/Chulip/Rule of Rose
Well, let's be honest, Onion game Steam approach is exactly what everyone should avoid in terms of release, they just dropped the games (which are Niche as hell) and good luck, let's see if it sells, we told him on that thread that if they want to succeed they totally need to change the approach and how they see Steam as a platform, taking advantage of the tools they provide.

Yeah, Steam isn't an automatic payday. The nerds will buy your game but if you just expect to drop it and wait for the cash to roll in well you're setting yourself for disappointed. That's why El Shaddai has done a relatively good job explaining how the different editions work, Comic Sans video non withstanding

I had a bit of a look at the RetroArch app on Steam, in prepration for the SteamDeck. I kinda assumed the reason it's not released yet is that it's not complete, but it looks like it's actually Valve that's dragging their feet here.

You can essentially install it by entering the "play test", but I don't understand why Valve allowed them to set up the store page if they don't want them actually there.

I mean, not to be a stickler here, but technically there was a "Steam Link app" on Windows even before Steam Link existed.
You can download it right here: Steam, The Ultimate Online Game Platform

:mamapeek:

edit; I thought it was obious it was a joke/fake!
To defend ourselves. It should be possible, no?
At least when working in one of those big internet traffic hubs, ISPs, Scientific Centers etc.
The hub in Frankfurt is for example spiking at 9.5 terabits/second.
Having access to PCs able of 5000mbit up/down there... why not.

I should really find out if it is possible to visit the Hub in Frankfurt.
