I love these icon cache problems have literally been around since Vista (when Windows allowed you to have bigger icons than 32x32) and Microsoft still hasn't fixed this. It's almost impressive how little this company cares about was used to be its core product ( and arguably still is to some extent).
So are they actually working out how to traverse that in real time?
Or is it pre-programmed?

Somehow it seems less impressive that they do it perfectly. I'd rather see them slip and catch themselves without eating it or how they respond to real-time changes to the course/interference from outside sources while running it to be impressed. It's 2021 and i'm knocking robots doing obstacle courses, something is amiss about this.
The backflips in the end were amazing.
The business for these things will blow up really big over the next decades.

Remote play through the Steam client can also be finicky since the game starts on the host before the client hooks in, meaning no Big Picture overlay on the host. That and the Steam client being weird and not showing some games as being streamable for whatever reason, like it's doing right now with the FF Pixel Remaster.
For me, it's being able to more conveniently stream non-Steam games. You can do that through Steam, but on the client system it won't have any info on the game so it doesn't get lumped with recently played stuff.

edit: Well, not pre-programmed in that everything is completely predetermined.
I think it's probably a programmed path and pre-programmed "poses" and movement (maybe motion matching, sort of), and then it chooses the right ones real time, and probably corrects footing and such in real time.
edit2: There's an actual companion video. They call it a choreographed routine, which is a pretty good description indeed.

I think this is due to Windows. Steam uses some kind of URL, and probably sets the icon during the creation. The icon cache goes haywire (basically when you look at the desktop the wrong way) and Windows doesn't know what to do, whereas with link to an executable it tries to look up the icon from there .

That's interesting, the way icons are shown on Ubuntu is pretty distinct, using .desktop files. If you get the same issues on both, than yeah, that's pretty sus.
Of course, I keep tons of Steam icons on my desktop, and I can't really remember them all being broken at once like this. Maybe your PCs are just cursed
Tbh maybe whatever caused it back then on ubuntu (or kubuntu) had a different cause? I dunno.

Just replace the desktop shortcuts with actual shortcuts to the game exe.
Will not work if you move the game to another drive, but provided you don't do that, the icons should stick.
Had same problem a couple of times and Rebuild Shell Icon Cache always did the trick for me

Bought art of rally but seriously considering to refund it. It runs like absolute dogshit, and it doesn't engage gsync. Using the recommended settings makes the game look terrible.
