One thing I’ll replace though is my Apple Watch. I’m getting tired of having to babysit its battery.

I get about a day and a half out of my Watch. Coming from a Galaxy Watch that would regularly go 2-3 days is not good.

Definitely the weakest part of the Apple Watch in my view.

Yeah it lasts a day and a bit if I record no workouts, but since I walk / run for at least an hour a day, it will be dead by the morning if I don’t charge it.

The Garmin watch I’m eyeing lasts from 5 to 7 days so…

I just upgraded from Series 3 to SE 2 watch and holy shit this thing is fast in comparison.
I tried the galaxy watch 4 before upgrading to SE 2 but it was an abysmal experience. It felt like a downgrade compared to the Series 3 tbh.
My new SE 2 lasted a whole day and some more. I dont mind charging before bed but the battery could be bigger.

Yeah, this is where I’m at. So long as the battery gets me through the day and the night I’m good. There’s always a good opportunity between finishing work and heading to bed where I can take it off my wrist for an hour or two to charge.

My sister-in-law has the 13 Mini - a really nice device.

I hope Apple returns to the Mini iPhone range, even if the sales don’t justify doing one every year. It’d be nice if odd numbered iPhones or one every 3 years get the Mini treatment so people who prefer that form factor get a regular update cadence.

My razer mouse finally broke, so thinking about getting the Apple Magic Trackpad, it’s super expensive, can get it for 135€, not sure if it’s worth it? I need wireless and good looking and touch would be nice.

I hate trackpads on a good day, so definitely not worth any money at all.

The Logitech MX Master 3S is the best desktop productivity mouse I’ve ever had.

I do like trackpads! Only using MacBook for so long I got used to it. One issue I have with a mouse is that it’s harder to draw with them compared to a trackpad. Looking at the Logitech mouses they seem to have Mac mouses and that is tempting.

If you want something to draw on you’d be better off getting a device dedicated to that rather than trying to use an Apple trackpad as a compromise between mouse and trackpad. Honestly, trackpads on desktop environments are not good, but if you need more convincing one way or the other just go to your nearest Apple Store and check one out.

As far as mice go, the Logitech Options software is really good for their mice and keyboards. Custom per-app profiles and fully configurable buttons.

As I said, the MX Master 3 3S is a legendary mouse. I’ve mapped the side buttons to switch between desktops and fullscreen apps and it’s a life saver. It also supports up to 3 devices (either dongle or Bluetooth) so you can switch between a few devices at your desk with ease.

The only mouse i can recommend is the logitech mx vertical
Not only is it ergonomic. but it has months of battery life and has 3 device profiles so you can switch between with a button.
It works with any device. android, ios, mac, pc.

I do wish they would make the mini a main stay in the lineup. either that or merge the SE and Mini. there should be a smaller model every year.

C-Dub i saw that the Mac version is different, has dedicated options button and gestures . But it’s only the MX 3. Little cheaper though, 109€
It’s the same mouse just without the unifying dongle from what I can tell (though those can be bought separately and the Mac version works with it).

The “dedicated gestures” can be configured in the Logitech Options app.

So if you don’t need the unifying receiver, go for whatever is cheaper.

I don’t know much about keyboards. I use a Keychron K4 and it’s a nice enough keyboard but I find some of the keys too cramped together, so if my keyboard finds itself at a slightly off position (which tends to happen as my stupid cat keeps nudging it at night) then my typing goes completely astray.

It has to be in precisely the perfect position for me to effectively type on it.

Anyone with an apple TV? Bought one for my dad and I was wondering if I can pair it with any kind of wireless headphones or apple stuff only (i.e. airpods)

I think it works with Bluetooth headphones. You can pair Bluetooth devices in the ‘Remotes and Devices’ section of the settings.

So my new iPhone 13 mini only uses like 20% battery while listening to podcasts for 6 hours at work.
My old iPhone SE 2nd gen used like 70-80%. Good upgrade I’d say 😊
Yeah the 13 series has very good battery indeed.

I want one of those pro max phones so bad.:( while I love my camera, I could easily be happy doing my street photography with a proper phone camera.
I was tempted to get a 14 Pro Max but tbh it would only because I love purple and well, it's a bit dumb to pay extra just for a shell color :p

Lol I thought the battery % for the Logitech MX 3s was bugged on macOS because the battery didn't seem to change much, but seems it only changes per 5% and that can take quite awhile! So I thought it was just stuck.

Yeah, it's not the best at reporting battery level.

On the plus side, you get a lot of battery out of it, so once it hits 15% you can just use it for the day then pop it on charge overnight and be back to 100% in the morning.

Ordered a new monitor and chair this week.

The monitor is the LG DualUp 28MQ780-B 16:18 monitor. I’ve found a lot of my work requires more vertical than horizontal space, so I’ve opted for a tall monitor to give me that extra reading/writing screen real estate, and for my day job I do instructional design so being able to see the pages of my products in full without having to scroll is invaluable.

I reckon this screen will be good for Civ VI too.

For the chair I ordered the SecretLab Titan Evo 2022. I’ve heard they’re super comfy.

Monitor is due today, chair next week.

Next update to my setup will be a new MacBook Pro later this year, once the M2 Pro or Max releases. I’m considering going freelance in instructional design in 2024, and to do that I’ll need a beefier machine to handle image and video editing tasks.

Aaaaaah! I need the pro so bad! Fuck yeah! But it’s more than double the price of the regular one. Which is still good. The only thing about my mini m1 is that I went with only 8gb ram and that was a mistake, other than that it’s still amazing! Does everything I need it to do and does it well.

It’s already so small! I guess air would be like Apple TV size
Air as in fanless like the Macbook Air. I could get a Macbook Air but i dont want another laptop.
No fans allowed in my room. I got my gaming laptop in a different room. the fan noise drives me up the wall xD
If Parsec ever gets ported over to iOS/iPadOS i will just upgrade my iPad Pro

Oh! But to be honest, I don’t think I have ever heard the fan in my Mac mini, only one time when I tried to encode video with a wrong setting. Even when I export and encode videos from davinci I won’t hear the fan.

Thinking about it, the Mac mini m2 pro isn’t that overly expensive for what it can do. Not sure it would even be possible to build a pc from scratch that would be as capable.

I'm super sensitive to fan noise even if its pretty much silent. my ears will hear them :crying-face:

All my new desk stuff has arrived!

My 16:18 monitor is insane. Having all that vertical space makes doing my job so much easier. I also grabbed a rather big Northern Lights LTT desk pad which is a joy to use. Extremely high quality!

I'm happy with the Secretlab chair too - it's really comfortable but I'm going to have to spend a few days adjusting the lumbar support, height and armrests until I'm happy with it. It's gonna be a long process, made even longer by the fact that I know my girlfriend is going to sit on it and adjust all the knobs at least once a week when she thinks I won't notice. I will.

I'll try and get a photo in a bit.

So been using my Apple Watch a moment now and I quite love it! But I do wonder about the step counter, I seem to get my steps in much easier than before. Sure when I just used my phone it wasn’t maybe that accurate but now it feels like I easily burn my calorie goal each day.
