Finally wrapped the game up and saw the credits. What an incredible adventure. I did the bonus semester with true ending and everything. Which I guess is the royal additions.

Its gotta be the longest game I've ever played. At least as a single playthrough of a singleplayer game. All I've played since it release and all on Deck too.

Its fucking crazy how much content the game has. They really did make 3 different long JRPGs and fused them into one game. All of it such high quality content too. So much story and gameplay stuff. All the characters and narrative. I maybe only disliked 1 dungeon and it was the cruise ship. And in all honesty it was still a decent palace. The other stuff was all great and boss fights. etc etc. The relationships and angles for everything was fun. The final boss fight went on for a bit too long and failing it was exhausting. Just brutal to restart it but overall not too hard tbh.

But yea lttp and all but strong recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it. Its up there with my favorite jrpgs of all time. Glad I held out on this title all these years to play it this way on PC/Deck. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much via a PS4. Its way too long of a game for a living room environment and the vanilla version would have been missing a lot of stuff back then.

Its hard to even process everything after finishing it. Just a masterpiece really. You did good Atlus. Pretty pretty good.

Now about 3 weeks until Persona 3 :) Gonna chill and play something more relaxing for the time being.

P3 is actually one I played back in the day on the ps2 along with Nocturne. Only briefly tho maybe like only 10-15hrs but I don't remember shit. So excited play it on Deck next month.

I'll probably finally play Persona 5 next year. I kept pushing back playing it on emulator for years because there was always the chance that they would finally port it. Sometimes hopium really works.

And now that it's out, I'm kind of broke. :grinning-face: So I'm waiting for some better deals still.

Konami, long-awaited.

:thinking-blob:

Maybe they'll finally port MGS4 to other platforms. :toucan:

Last night I finished Trigger Witch, a very decent Zelda clone with the combat of "Enter the Gungeon". The story takes place in a fairytale world with elves, witches and goblins and stuff.

So I was shocked that the final boss turned out to be Joseph Stalin, who wants to add this fairytale world to the Sovjet empire (yes, seriously) to inherit it's magic.

I mean, come on... 🙄

Twitter rival Mastodon has rejected more than five investment offers from Silicon Valley venture capital firms in recent months, as its founder pledged to protect the fast-growing social media platform’s non-profit status.

Mastodon, an open-source microblogging site founded in 2016 by German software developer Eugen Rochko, has seen a surge in users since Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion in October amid concerns over the billionaire’s running of the social media platform.

Rochko told the Financial Times he had received offers from more than five US-based investors to invest “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in backing the product, following its fast growth.

But he said the platform’s non-profit status was “untouchable,” adding that Mastodon’s independence and the choice of moderation styles across its servers were part of its attraction.

“Mastodon will not turn into everything you hate about Twitter,” said Rochko. “The fact that it can be sold to a controversial billionaire, the fact that it can be shut down, go bankrupt and so on. It’s the difference in paradigms [between the platforms].”

This month, Twitter temporarily suspended the accounts of Mastodon and several journalists, after they shared content about the flight path of Musk’s private jet. Twitter also suggested it would ban links to rival social media platforms including Mastodon but later reversed course on the policy.

In a blog post in response, Rochko said this was a “stark reminder that centralized platforms can impose arbitrary and unfair limits on what you can and can’t say,” adding that monthly active users of Mastodon increased from 300,000 to 2.5 million between October and November.

Daily downloads of Mastodon rose from 6,000 on October 27, the day Musk acquired Twitter, to a peak of 243,000 on November 18, according to data from Sensor Tower. Usage of other smaller rival sites, such as Tumblr, has also rocketed.

Mastodon has similar features to Twitter but is made up of many decentralized, independently moderated servers. Users join one server but can connect with people on other servers throughout the so-called “federated” system.

Rochko is Mastodon’s sole shareholder and, according to its 2021 annual report, he paid himself €2,400 per month last year, a figure he said has since risen by €500.

Mastodon will continue to rely on donations to fund the platform. The site has more than 8,500 donors on the membership platform Patreon, through which it is raising over £25,000 a month. This compares with total earnings of just over €55,000 in the six months from June to December 2021.

According to data from Sensor Tower, the initial wave of new joiners slowed to 6,000 new daily downloads on December 9 but rebounded to 64,000 on December 18, when Musk restricted links to other social media sites on Twitter.

New users have encountered problems, with some servers struggling to cope with the increased level of activity and confusion over moderation policies on different servers.

Josh Cowls, a researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute, said Mastodon could evolve into a “satellite” platform to Twitter, “seeing greater use at times when Twitter is down, as well as in response to further Musk-related outrages.”

Rochko said his long-term ambition for Mastodon was to replace Twitter and other commercial social networks. “It’s a long road ahead but at the same time, it’s bigger than it ever has been.”

Been super exhausted lately, but a belated merry holidays to everyone here. It's been one of the years of all time for sure here. Crazy stress loaded into the fall, but feel a bit more in the clear now.

Went a bit harder with my sale purchases than I was thinking (also might pick up Pentiment) but eh:

Also my Steam replay is kinda borked because I sat AFK in Lost Ark (and Stellaris to a lesser extent) so much (like, half that time I think), and I played the now unlisted pre-DC version of Death Stranding, as well as quite a few demos. I also launched but didn't play like 10 games on my Deck so I could go into offline mode if I needed to.

Steam Replay

Edit: Just realized there were a couple more bullet heavens I was gonna grab but weren't in my cart, oops

I really hope Ys V is among the remakes that Falcom is planning. I have no idea, though, how they are planning to release or work on multiple games at the same time given their tiny size, though.

What's the deal with Japanese devs ending every statement with "please look forward to it"?
Every single time.
It's a standard PR phrase in Japanese. Most companies use it when announcing something. There is a lot of these standard phrases in Japanese. People just use it without thinking.

Thank you for your understanding. Yeah, this one as well.:grimacing-face:

Damn, Astalon is a really good game, only played the first 30 min, but if it continues like this, damn. Decided to play Astalon before Pathfinder since Astalon was already installed.

Any thoughts on how Wasteland 3 is compared to Wasteland 2?
Its great fun.
I liked Wasteland 2 a bit more because the first half of it is more sandboxy in how you explore the world, but if you liked it, youre gonna like Wasteland 3 too, no doubts about it.

If you liked Wasteland 2 it's worth a go. Great tactical RPG. I'm really hoping Microsoft is having them work on Wasteland 4 right now (but who knows if Microsoft feels like they need Wasteland now that they own Fallout).

I'll have to check out Wasteland 2 after finishing 3. I've had W2 on my wishlist since launch but because I won W3 in a giveaway here I ended up playing that first. I love the game so I'm sure I'll love W2 as well.

Seeing a post about Ueda on Era reminded me that we'll probably never see The Last Guardian on PC which is a real shame.
