Success Corp drunk , they added PC build to launch at the same date as consoles , but only consoles will have English language support o_O
One of Studio Saizensen's previous games, Umihara Kawase Fresh, had a similar issue. They were, for some reason, unable to use the translation from the Switch version of the game. It later got patched with an English translation, but it was awful (probably machine-translated). Hoping this isn't the same situation again...

Ordered a GTX4070, should arrive tomorrow. I'm looking forward to finally play Metro Exodus and Control with ray tracing! 🥰

I'll consider a dual boot with Windows IF Microsoft gets this right. That's a big "IF" of course, I still hear and read lots of issues about game pass on PC.
TODAY IS THE DAY

I'm still waiting for the campaign actually being fun before purchasing TW3. Could this be it?

Found good deal for Kioxia 512GB SSD (50 euros) so i went with it and today it arrived. Replacing Deck SSD was easy, every thing went smoothly. Only "issue" i had was that Steam didn't detect steamapps folder on my SD card and i had to manually add new SteamLibrary folder and copy steamapps folder into it. After that Steam detected all games.

There was nothing like it on PC either. What was the closest equivalent with large maps and seamless use of vehicles and what not? The janky as hell Operation Flashpoint or the PVP only Battlefield 1942/Tribes 2? There were experiments before but hardly any with that level of polish and playability. I wouldn't compare something half baked like Hidden & Dangerous to Halo for example even if theoretically it ticks some boxes. The actually renowned PC single player FPS like Half-Life didn't do anything of the sort (nor did Half-Life 2 years later). Even for multiplayer I'd say it took until UT2004 to have that kind of polish and playability with all those types of on foot and in vehicle mini sandboxy situations lacking the bombastic sci fi story. For single player maybe the same year's Far Cry counts, but I'd say it took until Crysis to really get good. And there's not been that many games in that vein either so as a series built on that it was worthwhile (where Crysis faltered). And I'm not even a fan of Halo since I never cared for the gunplay when I tried CE or more recently the MCC, but it's ludicrous to say it didn't do anything outside being an Xbox game, same for GoldenEye and N64. Otherwise we might as well say we had a galaxy spanning space adventure since 1984's Elite, evolved with real life physics in 1993's Frontier: Elite II, so anything that came after that on any platform didn't do much of anything but go smaller scale.
Those "janky as hell" and "half baked" Operation Flashpoint and Hidden and Dangerous 2 were god damn masterpieces and much more interesting and ambitious games than Halo could ever hope to be. I finished all the Halos.

H&D2 was long after Halo and much improved over 1 though (which was also on console, Dreamcast, with a pretty solid version, but was universally considered mediocre at best). Even still, personally I'd rather play SWAT/R6/Ghost Recon or even Project I.G.I. if I want a retro tactical FPS despite their way smaller scope. Ambition is just an excuse for lackluster implementation. Some of the games I mentioned had prequels with some of the same elements but they're not even worth mentioning when the improved sequels were still lacking. The renowned PC FPS of the Halo era were more like Half-Life, RTCW etc., not doing any stuff like that, because they were polished and worked inuitively, as intended and fun. Or is this up for debate now too just to elevate lesser games as rivals of Halo?

Granted I can see the value in H&D2 as a tactical FPS and what not but hey that's obviously not what Halo was going for so it's far from an 1:1 comparison. I did miss one PC game that was actually polished (and everyone else did too). Battlezone (and II) was the shit. Underrated and forgotten sadly (but 1 is mostly a RTS and 2 is borderline vehicles-only so if we go that route we'll end up comparing Halo to some flight, space or mech sims, completely obfuscating the point of it).

I watched some 4070 reviews, 3080 performance with 3080 pricing, thanks Nvidia! Man for $600 the GPU to get is the 6950xt no doubt. And 12 GB of vram too, the bare minimum as always. This is the first Nvidia GPU that I've seen that is still in stock on launch day lol.

It's wild that in order to get more than 12 GB of vram from Nvidia you have to buy the 4080 which is such a terrible value GPU, I mean if you have the means to spend over 1000$ on a GPU might as well go for the 4090 which is indisputably the fastest GPU right now.

I don't want to defend 4070, but this card has 3080 performance at almost half the wattage consumption, so you will be saving in electricity.

The 4070 is an interesting card, but I think we should add a caveat that it has 3080 performance at 1440p and lower.

Once you get into 4K the 4070 begins to fall behind the 3080 until DLSS is used.

Grabbed the latest DLC for Vampire Survivors, Well worth the price (all of £1.50).

Unfortunately, with all the upgrades, limit break on the weapons, Queen Sigma and maximum curse it now brings my Steam Deck to its knees.

I have managed to get COVID again. A little bit worse than last time. Feels like a heavy cold, but this time lost my sense of smell and taste.

To weigh in on a conversation that has now died a death (so about normal for me then) one of my favourite Sci-Fi shows of recent years was Person of Interest. Even managed to have a decent ending, something a lot of recent Sci-Fi and Fantasy shows seemed to struggle with. Outside of that Babylon 5 is still one of my favourite shows. It does lose some steam once the Shadow War ends and suffered a bit due to studio medling (a comon problem with Genre TV).

That is true but also expected from gen to gen, especially if you went from Samsung's 8nm to TSMC's 5nm. I'm not saying the 4070 is a bad card, is just underwhelming and too expensive, like the entire 40 series lineup

That Dying Breed game is using some kind of open source C&C game as its base isn't it. Maybe it's building on top of the official code EA open sourced, or maybe OpenRA.

Use the new engine, it's in public beta and does wonders on performance and is compatibel with all dlc and updates. Link. I can limit tdp to 5 watt without much of a performance hit.

Good luck with Covid, it sucks :/

welp. eight months isn't enough time to turn this into something other than a 2024 game that's chasing design trends from 2017, but maybe it'll somehow work out for Rocksteady, they deserve better
8 months is enough time to change the story were the Suicide Squad all die in the first 30 minutes and then you play the rest of the game as Superman in a singleplayer only campaign.

But lets be real. The Justice League ain't dying in this game. So I don't even know why they gave it this stupid title.

The game is going to be a disappointing mess no matter what happens at this point.

I agree the 4070 isn't great value for it's money. I bought it over the 6950XT for the lower power usage (and thus more silent), DLSS3 and because I own a 1440p GSync monitor. The GTX3080 is still €200 more expensive here, and that's too much for me.

Still, €660 is a lot of money. I remember buying a 1070 at €470 at launch. 😕

Should just rip the bandaid off with this one and release it already. Why salvage tainted goods? Just write it off and start the next game.

I continue to be crushed that the term schlooter hasn't caught on. It's exactly the kind of refined, elegant name that this genre deserves.
People drove me nuts on discord with that name a couple of years ago so I'll definitely never use it lol.

oooooh, I knew it

I'm trying out Inscryption now cos of the universal praise and how much I've seen folk say to "play it and go in blind", and that "it's not really a roguelike"
and i shouldn't be surprised but thing I hate most about that genre still appears; that I'm sent back to the very start upon death (even after killing a boss in fact)
Are there no perma upgrades or anything like that for making runs easier/quicker?
I've done a few runs and some exploring of the hut and that's given me extra cards

I'm willing to give this a good go given the praise, but if I'm still playing this not-roguelike card game by 8hrs in I'm dropping it.

</rant (i fucking hate roguelikes)>

EDIT: fuck it, my backlog is bad enough, onto the next thing

The roguelike stuff is the game-within-the-game. All the meta stuff is the ‘real’ game. But if you find roguelikes tedious then you may have a bad time with it (like I did).

Yeah I got a feeling this is gonna bomb no matter how much they polish it up and might as well shove it out the door, have a small team work on updating it and move the main team on to something else.

I tried it on my desktop first, since I saw someone mention "Modern controls" for mouse and keyboard, and yes, there is a toggle for "modern controls" in the game settings.

So if you play with mouse and keyboard, just toggle it in the game settings and your fine. If you play with a controller on a desktop, I believe you need to enable a mouse and keyboard Steam Input profile to get the game to register your controller as a m+k instead, and then toggle "modern controls" in game.
Will have to give this a shot,thank you :) Maybe I'll get to experience Resident Evil 4 for once.

since no one has mentioned it

The article brings it up that the whole presentation is/was made because of an internal hackathon from microsoft. The company I worked at before did gamejams where they divided the whole place into X amount of teams and we all worked on little projects for a week or two and showed off what we worked on and then whatever wasn't total shit or whatever people thought would be cool maybe got worked on more or maybe nothing did

At this point in time that's essentially all that it is. It's kind of neat but it isn't anyone specifcally at microsoft saying "Yeah we're working on a handheld"

The 4070 is tempting. I missed the train on the FE but the third parties seem to stick close to MSRP.
I have a 2060 Super.
Guru3D included the 2060 Super in some of their results in their 4070 review, the 4070 seems to be around 2x faster or more, depending on the game.

At 1440p, 2060 Super vs 4070:
Hitman 3 - 99 fps -> 204 fps
Shadow Tomb Raider - 71 fps -> 160 fps
Far Cry 6 - 66 fps -> 127 fps
Witcher 3 DX11 - 90 fps -> 175 fps
Forza Horizon 5 - 58 fps -> 129 fps

Dunno if there's other reviewers that included 2060 Super in their results though.

Stating the obvious, but those bench show some nice 1440p perfs.
Callisto Protocol - Ultra / RT - 60 fps
Forspoken - Ultra / RT - 76 fps

I mean, not too shabby. And AFAIK that's without DLSS or Frame Generation or whatever.

I'm not sure if I should pick this up for Switch or PS5. I am thinking of buying the CE. I like Vanillaware games and would also like to get this one as well.

Maybe one day we will finally get a Vanillaware game on PC....any day now.
