Jesus ! Took a peek at the steam reviews and looks like SE did a stellar job with their AI :ROFLMAO:
I've spent last hour fighting with this thing - I couldn't move out of the first screen, looked up people playing on Twitch and one person just typed 'Lets go to the scene of the crime" and it worked. So I typed it exactly the same way and guess what - it doesn't work for me at all and I'm still stuck on the first screen unable to move anywhere else.

Well, the above is a bit of a lie since now the game launches with settings screen open that really doesn't want to be closed.

Fallen Survivor, we hyped or no?

I am, I just hope it doesn't run like shit

Man, what am I saying...Of course it will
I'm not paying €70 for a video game, period. But I am looking forward to play Fallen Survivor. I enjoyed Fallen Order a lot more than expected. I'll probably take a month of EA Play later to play it

Played 10 minutes with it. It feels more like using one of those horrible 'service' chatbots than using something like ChatGPT / Bard. Frustrating as heck.

Edit: works on SteamDeck.

I don't expect Jedi Survivor to be an optimized game. And fuck that install size, Jesus Christ.

I may grab one, dunno which though. Thinking north.

Can't afford to buy all three at once.
North is cool I like that one a lot it adds the viking guys!
Don't forget to grab Lindwurm & of flesh and faith as those ones are free

Ultimately I sort of view it as adding in more in content to the game when/if you enjoy the game more as opposed to getting everything all at once anyways

The beast hunter one is more of like a mid/end game DLC for some of the encounters iirc (I haven't played in a few months so I might not be remembering correctly)

The North one affects things from the start all the way to the end but is pretty awesome if you like vikings/northmen

I think theres a start you should have access to that's pretty fun that's a Hedge knight? Or like Tournament knight? You basically have a fully decked out Uber unit with a bunch of peasents or squires that changes your win/lose mechanics to be that you can lose every other character besides the Knight but if the knight dies you lose that campaign attempt

It's pretty fun assuming you sort of want a campaign with one unit that's sort of "you"

He's also strong as shit and can basically slaughter everything (For awhile, until the game catches up to your gear)

I started hedge knight but it mentions nothing of having to do that random stuff but can't have more then 12. Also I can't accept any missions with my hedge night heh..dunno why.

Wont this be playable through EA's subscription service anyways?
Yes, I will be renting it for a month or two for 15 or 30, depending on whether I manage to finish both Jedi Survivor and Dead Space in a single month or not.

With games I intend to play only once I am fine with renting them via these sub services.

Yes, but not on Steam until after a year I think. Oh well, if it's a good game and a good port, I may bother to install origin or the EA app. I want to play Dead Space as well.

My 7800X3D is up and running, installed most tools I need and a few games. Since I needed to reinstall my PC for the new hardware, ended trying Windows 11. The missing taskbar features are a bit annoying, but the explorer and command line (windows terminal) supporting tabs makes up a bit for that.

Though, now I hear about reports from some users with Ryzen 7000 series X3D CPUs having their CPU and motherboard dying/burning.
Seems to be happening mostly with Asus motherboards, but there's apparently a few reports with other brands too. Some users are theorizing that it could be related to the higher voltages when using EXPO (AMD's version of XMP), so until there's more information about these issues, I'm disabling EXPO on mine.

After disabling EXPO, I noticed that my CPU's package power according to hwinfo went from mid~high 30s W to low 20s W when idle, and from 95W to 80W on cinebench.
It's a bummer to have to go from 6000MHz RAM to 4800MHz for now, but better this than risk the possibility of the CPU and motherboard dying (if this is even related to these reports?).

EDIT: MSI already released beta bios that blocks increasing voltages over the default, for now I'll stick to not using EXPO and I'll update my bios once that beta version gets finalized.

Do I read correctly only 45000 units sold of Everspace during launch week? That does not sound like a lot to be honest. I hope they will be/are profitable.

Honestly Valve really needs to do more about regional price exploiting via VPN.
I am not sure what more they could do that does not harm legit users or is not invasive.

They could force users to occasionally use certain payment methods beyond wallets, but that hurts users without a bank card or access to other payment methods. They could kill Steam wallet codes entirely, but that hurts folks who rely on being able to exchange cash for cards. They could ban known VPN IPs or target VPNs more broadly, but that will take out a lot of innocent bystanders (heck myself at some points), including what I assume are a lot of folks connecting from China. They could try to identify users by their machine to see if multiple accounts are connecting from the same device, but that is extremely invasive. Short of validating someone's identity via government issued docs, which is also extremely invasive. I think any of these would hurt overall sales more than it cuts off region hoppers. I am really at a lost of what other options there are.

I not 100% privy to the ways folks are getting around the regional price exploits these days, but what little I know is it is harder than most other digital stores. Some of the methods I have heard of can even risk compromising your account. That is not to say it does not happen readily. I am sure it does.

I do continue to wonder how much of it is pricing games reasonably and actually getting sales. I know a few devs/pubs claim to be able to tell by % of purchasers and % of players by country, but I also know some folks from these regions snatch up games that are reasonably priced ASAP as often devs/pubs screw them over in pricing on a random Tuesday.

The Game Pass tweet doesn't surprise me. I treat Game Pass as a glorified rental service and buy my games on other platforms. It is great for one and done titles I'll never touch after completing.

I might be reading it wrong, but I think it's 250k total with 45k during launch week. So 205k sold during the 15 month early access period.

All the Gamepass praising... and I wonder... not about margins and revenue, not about if it's successful or not. No.

HOW is Microsoft developing a loyal userbase that has reason to come back to GP.
All they are giving customers, at the moment, is a subscription service that has a game you may want to play, that will leave the service in the future. There is no monetary or emotional investment in your GP account. The money you are paying has no value except for the very month you are subscribing. There is no backlog to get back into, there is no "finishing" old games you wanted to do finally, unless they are still on the service.

Random question; How likely is it that you will continue playing an open world or RPG game after you have finished the main story? In other words, do you go back to the game to wrap up side quests and collectibles and stuff like that after finishing a game? I imagine folks who hunt achievements will do this frequently but what about for those who don't?

Star Rail preload is up :)
If you're preloading the game, make sure to start it once, log in and try to actually enter the game. That will trigger an additional 2GB download.

I usually try to completely everything but once the credits roll Im never touching the game again, no matter how much I planned on finishing up achievements and such. If there is major DLC I might go back.

I mainline the story then I'm done with it

If I got the achievements along the way? cool
Yeah, pretty much me, might try 1 or 2 side missions if the open world is super fun, which it rarely is, but that's it.

Im definetly not doing any side quests and side activities if I find the game boring, waste of valuable time, next game.
