they already have ... there is no reason to think they haven't at least tried to get stuff like RE2 or DMCV

it's just that Japanese publishers aren't that keen on doing it ... for now

it's just a matter of time, sadly

and squeenix will probably be the first one to join the dark side

Capcom would probably laugh in their face after seeing how well all of their games have been doing on Steam lately.

Endgame on wednesday and Battle of Winterfell night to monday.

And Persona live shows with new info on P5R and P5S on Wednesday and Thursday. Best week ever.

I wouldn't be so sure about it., if Epic is willing to throw at them anywhere close to the alleged number for Division 2, I think they might reconsider. Hell, I would've sold myself for this much money.

I'm just wondering if Epic can offer Capcom what they would need to begin with. Can they offer them servers to use as they please if they can't do something as simple as leaderboards for an indie game? Would they really want to piss their fans off at this point?

I should be excited but knowing Atlus they will release another 3DS game.

The shows themselves are enough to get me excited, love them.
Besides, we already know P5R is a PS4 game so even if P5S turns out to be something disappointing there's always Royal to look forward to.

For MHW? Probably not. But single-player oriented games like DMCV and RE2 would be a fair game in the eyes of Capcom and depending on the sum I can see them repeating "just another launcher" mantra.

I don't think Epic was even considering these games. They are mostly focused on big western titles like Borderlands 3 and Division 2 with multiplayer components. Was there a big single player game released on the Epic store?

Metro/Anno. But I don't think they have the pull for the likes of Capcom, SEGA, Square and other actually big gaming corporations who have seen the benefits of Steam first hand as part of their core business for many years now and are part of the companies that see the importance of actual player engagement statistics (not to mention the service and backend Steam offers) over simply being compensated for not reaching their targets in those. Ubi was a fluke by virtue of having their own client to migrate to as they've likely been planning all along with cultivating support for it and they simply got Epic's money on top of that, they had nothing to lose. They don't even seem to have a pull with Bethesda (or Microsoft) that could have otherwise been swayed to go to EGS when their own service failed rather than revert to Steam. It's still just a tiny minority of companies that have accepted Epic deals in the grand scheme of things.

Metro Exodus is singleplayer only.

Also SFV since even though they run their own servers for that they still need a Steam account to latch onto. I don't think Epic would be able to provide any of this. Ubisoft runs their own shit and most of the stuff they're scooping up seems to be single player games. That one MH clone (dauntless?) was already running on their own stuff. I'm not sure how Borderlands 3 is doing it.

Not for free anyway, they already operate in red, if they add free servers they might as well close the store. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if Sweeney will ask us to pay for online (and tax breathing oxygen in the process) but even his chief adviser can't be this clueless.

Considering how much Pitchford hates steam, I'm surprised borderlands 3 is only exclusive to the epic launcher for only 6 months. Or maybe its just a ruse and its going full exclusive 1 day before the exclusivity runes out. But we will see in December with Hades and that dark souls ripoff if they release on steam soon after the money hat expires.

Randy is just full of shit, if BL3 sells better on Steam he will either say nothing or cite their years long relationship with Valve.

If it comes to Steam, Nobody's stopping Epic from keeping B3 exclusive on their store, they could give 2K another 10 million in April 2020 to keep another 6 months of exclusivity. Consider any publisher/Developer bribed by Epic lost to them. That's why the review bombing is important, give them as much bad press as possible, boycott the developer and the publisher and make the sure the door hitting them on the way is as crimson as possible :) They're leaving steam, why do they need good press for?

I like how Metro Exodus slowly falling into obscurity, it was all rage back in February and now people barely remember about its existence.

Thats the kicker. Millions of people view and search through the Steam store every day. The only reason people go through EGS is when they want a specific game. Most people open it and go directly to Fortnite without bating an eye. After the EGS deals end and these games come to Steam. The vast majority of future sales will be on Steam.

Not releasing on 3rd party stores until 2 months after launch also doesn’t do it any favours.

Smaller games like Ashen, Dangerous Driving, and World War Z died out days after launch.

Yeah it's a given that if the actual numbers looked good they would have shown those instead of that 2.5x blah blah compared to blah blah.

It's like when Microsoft announced that Tomb Raider exclusivity and kept repeating "Tomb Raider will be releasing exclusively on XBOX... for Holiday 20xx", when they're all vague and shit about stuff that would make them look good you can just assume that it's probably not that good and you'll be right 10 times out of 10.

In other news. Forager is good. And Supraland is good. And Train Valley 2 is good. And Katana Zero is good. And Bomb Chicken is good. And Whispers of a Machine is good. And God's Trigger is good. Leave me alone you damn games!

Theswweet , are you reviewing Date A Live? Just looking at the most active game list and it's currently in the top 5.

If you do, please let us know whenever it's published. I'm a bit curious about how it'll turn out.

A link for everyone.

It'd be really nice if the enhanced Persona 5 comes to PC, whether Atlus likes it or not, I hope that SEGA has some pull or say in this regard. Seemingly just like Capcom, PC revenue is on the uptick for them?

For the Sekai-Project survey they ask what devs you'd like to see games from... I put Leaf/Aquaplus (Utawarerumono, Tears to Tiara). These are titles that come to the West on console only via Atlus (despite having PC versions in Japan usually), but here again I also hope for the best. There is no satisfactory or good enough reason for 3rd-party exclusives these days. None.

Does Sekai has enough money for games like that? They have like billion VNs in various states of translation for years (where the hell is my Baldr?) and they were laying off employees last year, so I'm expecting them to pull TellTale sooner or later.

Regardless, I want new Utawarerumomo games too.

I'm honestly not sure. I just know the survey asks for wants, and those PC ports exist. Someone just has to bring them outside Japan and put them on Steam at globally reasonable prices. (I would hope.)

These days I've been playing Word of Final Fantasy.

So far the combat seems simple (but it has turbo so that's always a plus for me), I suspect there are ways to break the game but really It doesn't feel like it's necessary. And after Sekiro a game with simple combat feels nice.

The story is alright, nothing amazing (but good enough to keep me going).

And words to live by:

Pardon me, but...

I fuckin' love WoFF. That is all. :coffee-blob:
I hope you like it too! And everyone else who plays it. I also hope SE let's Hiroki Chiba direct another one.

I think its safe to say unless theres some secret exclusivity deal with Sony, SEGA will bring Persona 5 to PC.

Persona 5 Classic that is.

Not reviewing it, as of right now. Our World is Ended has me not wanting to touch an unknown VN for a while. Is it supposed to be good, from what you know?

Ashen is the one game I wanted to try, but will likely have forgotten about and move on from when its deal ends

I played Orwell and the story left me scratching my head

Orwell justified itself when I stopped the bomb in the mall, whatever thought gymnastics those privileged assholes were talking at the end weren't going to change my decision to put them all in jail

Yeah, I feel like a part of the appeal is that it's free to use Steam's servers, especially for fighters or anything that lives or dies based off a healthy community. There's already Japanese developers that have in-house studios dedicated to PC ports. I don't think they would want to just switch clients so easily after finally settling in. Namco.
