The team behind the Deck updates must be on seriously strong stuff. A few weeks ago the Deck didn't detect my SD card but Linux did. Steam had somehow decided that the 'steamapps' folder on the SD wasn't classy enough, it created a 'steamlibrary' folder. Ok. You damn idiots nearly made me brick my SD putting it out and in several times, but ok.

Then were the dark days. The times when every other day steam forgot the folder. But it didn't rename it, just forgot.

Then came THE patch to make the Deck stop forgetting the folder !!! Which obviously IMMEDIATELY made the deck forget the folder.

Then yesterday I had two steam folders on the SD, the recent 'steamlibrary' and a newly re-created 'steamapps'.

...heavy glue up the nostrils before every patch. No other explanation.

I did nothing special on Deck, just apply the last update, and now it shows two SD cards (it's the same one but it just shows duplicated).
I suppose this will be fixed at some point.

At first glance this is what happened to me. If you go on the linux side I bet you have both folders.

Lies of P: Have the timings of parry and dodge changed noticeably between the demo and final release?

It felt terribly off to me in the demo.
noticably? no, not to me; but right now it feels easier for me since I had already played the demo for good 8 hours, and now further 4 hours into the full game, I feel like I have a bit of a better grip at the game, but sometimes Im still confused whether I should block (which doesnt work for everything?), dodge (its a bit better when you upgrade it) or parry (which I was never good at)... and yeah, the weird timings are still there.

some people have claimed its easier in general; and that they tweaked timings, but i dont feel like thats the case

I read the leaked preview of Rebirth (apparently previews are going up in about 8 hours). It's just covering the same stuff the TGS demos apparently cover but there were some details to glean from it. I'll tag it just in case

Here, the team finds themselves in a small open-world area outside of Junon. Before walking into the fishing town, I have some time to wander around on a Chocobo and do a few open-world-style activities. Scattered combat trials would have me trying to beat a pack of enemies within a time limit while completing a checklist of tasks in battle. I could follow Chocobo chicks to discover fast travel markers and get plumes that could be traded in to customize my bird's armor. I could even find a wealth of materials, which I could use to craft items and in turn complete micro-objectives for a bit of experience. It's not a full open-world pivot. The area I explored was probably comparable to some of Final Fantasy XVI's wide fields, but it already feels like there's significantly more to do and see in those spaces. That should come as great news to those who took issue with Remake's corridor-like level design.

Upon entering a small town south of Junon, a local would immediately beg for my team's help. She'd lead us to a lake where we'd find Yuffie in a boat, being hunted by Bottomswell. It's a boss fight from the original game but naturally recontextualized to act as a new character introduction. All hope seems lost for Yuffie until Rebirth finally gives me the kind of bizarre moment I craved: A dolphin pops out of the water to lend a helping fin. It's a hilariously left-field moment that confidently preserves a piece of the original game.

My battle with Bottomswell is as thrilling as any fight in Remake, with my party peppering it with spells and long-range attacks while dodging watery whirlpools. When I land the last strike, I transition into a ridiculously enjoyable cutscene where my dolphin pal helps Cloud finish the massive water snake off. It all ends with a picaresque parting shot as Cloud poses with the dolphin, rainbow overhead.

That last bit is chef kiss. Gonna be one goofy ass game.

HeroCraft has a Humble Bundle up. Warhammer 40k Space Wolf is being delisted, so that is part of the $1 tier with DLC

There is also a VR bundle

Looks like the Warhammer stuff is missing one piece of DLC that you can get from Fanatical for cheap.

Sounds like FFVII all right
Got a feeling that first part is gonna get removed since cloud going mouth to mouth on a child with modern graphics wouldn't go over well with terminally online twitter people. Maybe it'll happen to yuffie instead lol.

Second vid I can't even imagine how that will be shown. It likely won't be until part 3 though.

The reviews for Phantom Liberty are pretty glowing. Patient Gamer habit really coming through on this - will be playing it for the first time after that releases, and got the game + dlc for less than the cost of the game on release (y)

Limited comparison, but I took most of my AC VI screenshots in HDR, and uploaded the SDR tonemapped to Steam. As you can see, some has crushed blacks and blown-out contrasts.

The only SDR screenshots I took are the ones showing my AC in the garage.
What's your process if you don't mind me asking.

I was reading up on some of this stuff earlier and actually got quite curious about the ins and outs of it. I guess you'd ideally need to use some other capturing tool that can take jxr/jxl/aif/some other image format that supports hdr? Reading up on it, seems like Gamebar and Nvidia's overlay might be the only ones currently doing it, or at least the popular options. Gamebar appears to save jxr and regular png at the same time when you take a screen with HDR enabled, not sure what GeForce Experience does.

But yeah, I'm wondering what kind of tone-mapping algorithm Valve went with. I wonder if that information is saved in the metadata of the resulting jpg, probably not. But that would be nice.

Yes, I generally used SpecialK's HDR retrofit feature, while disabling the game's native HDR implementation (if there's any)

In the main menu of SpecialK's overlay, there is an option to save JPEG-XR HDR screenshots. Pressing F12 will capture these JXRs alongside normal .jpg screenshots.

After that, I simply used this hdrfix utility to do the tonemapping.

I had to play around with the choices of algorithms because the result isn't always perfect. After that I'd just reupload the results back to Steam's screenshots folder using Steascree and off I go.

Can't wait for this. In addition to Daytona USA 2 this reveals Virtua Fighter 3, Sega Bass Fishing and SpikeOut. I wonder if there are yet more Model 3 stuff like Scud Race or they're saving those for other games. Also if it does away with the arcade games in the previous game (probably but having them all would rock).

Moving in combat is a pretty huge and welcome addition but I wonder if that will mean it feels experimental and not quite as polished as it could be again.

Ah yes, Special K. I did remember it had a HDR feature so it makes perfect sense that it would have an ability to save the screenshots too.

Cheers!

I also died several times completing it, but ended up settling on a build using the good ol' Stun Needles.
The needle rifle is strong indeed, but I have a preference for energy weapons, so I wish there's an equivalent for it.

The plasma cannon/triple laser cannon is really strong (especially when charged), but it is also more heavy and energy-hungry. It's next to impossible to carry on most bipedal (and all reverse joint) legs.

Compared to those, the needle rifle is more effective, basically.

Anyone play Chrono Trigger and Cross on PC recently? I want to play Cross specially, but looking into it there doesn't seem to be a single mod to get those backgrounds fixed and other enhacmeents, anyone know what are the best mods? Shame there isn't something like what Moguri mod is to FFIX.

Seems like this one is the most complete backgrounds mod:

This one seems like it would have been higher quality, but isn't complete and hasn't been updated since january:

The energy weapons look extremely cool, so I understand you're preference there.

AC6 is kind of like the Souls series in one way, and that is that Fashion Mechs are definitely a thing. I have totally skipped over parts because I didn't think they looked cool enough on my mech.

Oh yeah, I spent dozens of hours in the Image Creator to make my own emblem (also tried making a Bracer Guild emblem and failed miserably), and playing with colour schemes, obviously.

Spend lots of time in https://ac-companion.app/ and marvelled at other players' creativity too. :flare_bath:

Ugh, not sure what to do in bg3, I’m at the end and have lots of loose ends to tie up, but all of those are just big boss fights and feels like that is all there is at this point and thus making it kind of a slog.

Fun fact about me, back in 2017 I was able to get Isuna Hasekura to sign the slip cover of my Steam Link. Yeah, he thought it was weird but he still signed it.

I still have a sealed Steam link. I ended up buying 2 Steam Link but only 1 Steam Controller.

Only ten had to leave. None of them are developers or part game development. It's still sad that they had to let go these people
Usually moves like this are only the beginning. The canary in the coal mine so to speak.

And even if it’s not, attrition will surge regardless. And does anyone believe management are capable of filling those vacancies? Who would willingly work for Embracer at this point?
