In case you're wondering about it, Lunar Remastered is also coming to Steam
Nice, but if it has the jarring Working Designs translations, my interest will immediately drop off a cliff unless modders look into it.

If Gungho is the same publisher behind the Grandia remasters, those didn't really get patches to fix the issues, so I'm skeptical.

I remember fond times playing Lunar and Lunar 2 as a child. But uh..... Idk if I need to play them again.

Much more interested in a Soul Reaver 1+2 remaster if that comes to PC eventually which I assume it will

It is. They did patch Grandia 2 a lot, if you can believe it, the game was a lot more broken on release, specially the music and voice acting would just cut out and things like that. But with Grandia it was just a big disappointment, they did the basic PS1 port with a really ugly filter on top that you had to delete some files to get rid, but that brought some graphical issues on NVIDIA graphics. I'm not sure if there's a fix to that.

Is Monster Hunter basically like a WoW raid except the monster is the end bos?
Not quite. MH is all about hunting big monsters, it's all about fighting bosses, getting their loot, upgrade equipment to fight stronger monsters.
But these monsters aren't static, they don't stay in a single boss arena, they patrol throughout the field, each has their own patrolling routes, they have their own resting places and such, and throughout the fights they sometimes run away to different parts of the map.

In the currently available games on PC, each field is limited to having at most 3 big monsters at once, but Wilds doesn't seem like it's gonna be as limited.

So in a way they have their own mechanics and stuff?

The upgrade stuff sounds like the WoW upgrade grind.

I could dig that

Yeah, also MH games are action RPGs where each weapon type has a very different feel.
And they're not MMOs, multiplayer is limited to 4 players co-op, though outside of a handful of post-game monsters, most monsters can be done solo with no problems, monster's HP is scaled depending on the party size (3 tiers of HP, for 1, 2 or 3+ players).

The upgrade stuff, instead of getting equipment as loot, in MH we get materials to craft or upgrade equipment.

Look, don't give me hope. Syberia 3 was easily the most disappointing adventure game I ever played. Sure, the new game will be better, it would be an Olympic triple gold medalist level achievement if they managed to crap out something that's worse, but I don't see this team ever reaching the melancholic beauty of the first two titles. I'm just gonna pretend the series ended with 2.
Some of the movement and puzzle manipulation jank is still there, thankfully greatly reduced compared to 3. That type of camera never worked for me and I am baffled microids tried to use it again, it reminds me of stuff like Broken Sword 3. One last negative I have to get out of the way is that you still can't manually save and have to rely on the game's autosave function.

The VA and overall presentation is night and day compared to 3 and I've found the return to more urban settings a nice change of pace compare to yet another game in the Siberian steppes following nomadic tribes. One thing that was sacrificed unfortunately is the more traditional PnC structure of the first 3 games for something more story focused like LiS. I don't mind it too much since the puzzles were never the main drawing point of the series for me, if anything being relatively simple made the games a decent entry point to the genre. Tbf the mechanical contraptions are still there, sprinkled in, ready to be figured out. I am 5 hours in and in the middle of a puzzle that would fit in any of the previous 3 entries, but the game is definitely not following that design approach overall.

well, that does sound more promising. Maybe if it's a sale or something, I will give it a try

Sorry for doomposting but those Monster Hunter Wilds requirements will be a plague for the ecosystem.
It will still sell a fuckton (cause it's MH) and will clear the way to frame gen as a standard to reach 60fps

You can start playing now cuz the progress from the demo transfers to full release

At least that's what i'd do, if i wasn't busy with FFXVI and the SH2 remake releasing next week

That was a good State of Play but kind of disappointing at lack of new 1st party PC releases.

I guess Sony is waiting for release date of TLOU show for season 2 and then they will announce TLOU2 PC.

And Spider-Man 2 is 2nd half of next year.

They have released a lot this year but still gonna be weird for them not to do something for November/December.

Oh well. the bloodborne and demon souls dream is pretty much dead. By the end of this year people will be emulating Bloodborne on PC at high fps n everything. They really gonna miss out hundreds n hundreds of millions of dollars. Some clown ass behavior.

Since God of War Ragnarok needed a couple patches I decided to go play the Nightdive remaster of Quake 2. They did an amazing job and the compass they added massively improved the pacing of the base game and original 2 expansions for me. I remembered finding it quite tedious when I played them for the first time over a decade ago, but this time they felt much more brisk in a good way. Quake 2 64 was interesting but a bit bland. I am working through Call of the Machine now and uhhh.... this sure is different. I don't think I love the drastic increase to the enemy counts per level and each "operation" being a fresh start for your inventory makes the power curve weird compared to the prior campaigns. The level design is great though.

Isn't the 2070 Super somewhat comparable to the PS5 GPU? So 1080p 30fps may be what the PS5 will target.
I guess you're right but the frame generation part is throwing me off. Have no idea how well any of the older cards or any console behave under that type of stress. Still, those are pretty hefty requirements even with mandatory frame generation.

Ubi came crawling back
Additionally, despite solid ratings (Metacritic 76) and user scores across the First Party and Epic stores (3.9/5) that reflect an immersive and authentic Star Wars universe, Star Wars Outlaws initial sales proved softer than expected. In response to player feedback, Ubisoft's development teams are currently fully mobilized to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience in order to engage a large audience during the holiday season to position Star Wars Outlaws as a strong long-term performer. The game will be available on Steam on November 21.
On Shadows:
The game will mark the return of our new releases on Steam Day 1.

It seems those people saying it would drop soon were on point.

Charging for an upgrade and adding mandatory PSN Account on top of it. Good luck Sony.
Well is there anything wrong with charging for what looks like a serious remastering effort ?
The PSN account requirement has unfortunate consequences but it makes sense corporate wise.
