You can load up the game and start precompiling the shaders, it takes about 10 minutes. I'd recommend doing it before the game goes live so you're not stuck waiting.
The issue is that after that shader precompilation has finished, we are stuck in an infinite loop because it always tries to connect to the server and the beta doesn't let you exit the game gracefully (you have to either use Alt-F4 or via Steam Overlay) :flare_lmao:

But after so much time, it probably makes sense to focus on something that does not focus too much on Solas, since that emotional investment requires having played a game from 2014.
Solas would be much better antagonist even for people who never played DA:I (and I am sure lot of players would go back to Inquisition after Veilguard to get that backstory). He is simply more interesting and better written character than some random two moustache twirling monster elves. Of course that assumes current BW writers would be able to write him as well as Gaider.

I mean, it's not like Solas won't feature heavily in Veilguard, he already does. He's more an unwilling ally now, since his original plan failed and it's in his interest to help you since you are the only one that can fix things, and the two gods roaming about would also spell doom for his plan.

From what I remember reading in some review, there are only few dialogue scenes with him, some of which are very brief :/

Thank you for the Steam Deck coverage, it is very much appreciated.
Thanks for reading. Also since many people have started asking me (months prior) to test keyboard mouse controls when I cover PC ports pre-release, I've started doing a bit of that. It does allow me to set up some interesting photos like the one with my 8BitDo keyboard in the article.
