I think it's likely that it will be successful and it shouldn't really be surprising. Papergames is a very successful mobile developer who make high quality games primarily targeting a female audience and this game has like 30 million preregistrations. This will either be a small hit followed by everyone forgetting, or really really huge hit that no one saw coming.
Do you judge your waifu though?Who holds pizza like that?
DirtLeague still exists???
This looks fun, love their videos so pretty cool to see they are doing a game too.
Sounds good.Yes. the game should be good even to a newcomer. The opening chapters introduce the world bit by bit. I reached the point where references to the first game and old faces starts to appear more but they don't hinder enjoyment. I also haven't yet finished catching up to GFL1 story myself (really freaking long) but I can understand everything in 2. There are also lore records and archives to read outside the main story but they stay optional so far.
Gameplay-wise it's completely different from GFL1. Combat is simplified Xcom and easy to understand. Stages are very easy in early chapters but knowing the developer they will definitely add some nasty stages soon. Graphics are really nice and highly detailed. There's a refitting room where you can examine the sweet texture on each doll, and there's also coomer stuff (the dormitory). Gacha is abysmal though because both characters and weapons are in the same pool. Meanwhile, CN players have done the calculations for number of free rolls available each month, and the game seems to be pretty generous in the genre.
The CBT has been receiving good impressions from most people as far as I observed (among EN and JP players). They need to iron out some translations and text bug but the game should be able to launch very soon. Feel free to visit the OT for useful resources like doll intro and basic lore.

Yeah. So far it has no research mechanics (commander is living on pennies), but if anime XCOM is your thing this is the one to play aside from Troubleshooter.Sounds good.
I LOVE xcom but looks like we aren't getting an XCOM3 for years, and this looks like a genshin style AAA Gacha.
Speaking of sounds, I want to add the games have a killer soundtrack tooSounds good.
Someone give him a real job so he can reduce tweeting. Apparently taking credit as the genius mastermind behind all those different companies (but not their failures of course) and now also preparing to work for his government (aren't there any laws about conflicts of interests?) still isn't occupying enough of his time. You think that's bad? Since yesterday Musk decided he wants to get into italian politics

While the ADL is extremely sus, this is spot on. Steam forums are up to the brim with bigots and nothing ever gets done.Steam-Powered Hate: Top Gaming Site Rife with Extremism & Antisemitism
In a new study, the ADL Center on Extremism found 1.8+ million unique pieces of extremist or hateful content on Steam.www.adl.org
Unfortunately, money has the same value even if it comes out of a bigot (or nazi)'s wallet, and money is what matters to any corporation (look at how after Trump's win advertizers are rushing to go back to X after Musk got a government job)While the ADL is extremely sus, this is spot on. DQ3 is one game and then DQ1+2 will be another.I thought the DQ 3 would also include the first 2 games but they seem to be separate purchases... Am I understanding it correctly?

Maybe they are having internal launcher deathmatches to decide that, and this time it won the Battle(.net).Avowed is on Battle.net which is interesting. Microsoft needs to figure out what they're going to do about owning the Xbox and Battle.net apps.
Yeah the devs said it'll be set up in a way that makes it easier for tourists to hop in universe. Still wouldn't be a bad idea to read up or watch some lore dumps, GFL is commonly referred to as the "Dark Souls" of gacha and it has a pretty in-depth, lore heavy world/story!Is this gonna be good for people that never played GF (tfw)
People basically just want Twitter but the nazis can't say the quiet part out loud anymore.... and that's how we end up with twitter 2.0
sigh
and they will get exactly thatPeople basically just want Twitter
Yeah it's not like pre-rat Twitter was good.and they will get exactly that
and i don't mean it as a positive
I gotta be honest tho, i just don't fuck with that gameplay.Yeah the devs said it'll be set up in a way that makes it easier for tourists to hop in universe. Also just top-tier Story in general. I'd rate it's story as top 10 all time for me. For games in general, not even just gacha. It's brutal, backed up by some whack ass hardcore gameplay that definitely alienated SO many casuals. It's nice when a dev prioritizes their vision over lowest common denominator gameplay for widest audience attraction and money.
Not to mention the PTSD and Depression you're missing out on!

"Girls Frontline isn't a story about AI's learning to love. It's about AI's learning to hate. And we are excellent teachers."
I'm in the same position. Posted this in the OT just earlierI gotta be honest tho, i just don't fuck with that gameplay.
GF2 looks WAY more interesting because of the XCOM gameplay (and the budget lol)
Maybe i'll watch a summary but i don't think there's a world wherein i'm gonna play the first one.
I've been using the upcoming release of this as an excuse to get into Girl's Frontline 1.
...The story portion of it anyway. I've heard quite a few times that the story is/gets really good and I've also tried to get into the games a few times already, but it just hasn't been working for me.
Soooo.... I've decided I'll just read the story!
I'm reading it with this Cutscene Interpreter following the order of this youtube playlist (these chapters do be getting quite long later on :O)
Am at the beginning of Chapter 8 right now. I wouldn't say it's been "amazing" so far, but it is a pretty breezy and gripping read and I'm curious to see where it goes.
In all fairness you're comparing a 2023 Game to a 2016 one, and we all know Gacha from the old days was quite a bit different. Not to mention the studio's only project before that was a single doujin game. GFL1 had no shot at being a big-budget Hoyo style excursion.I gotta be honest tho, i just don't fuck with that gameplay.

Obigatory!Speaking of sounds, I want to add the games have a killer soundtrack too
Enjoy! You're in for a ride, as long as you're checking out the story events too.I'm in the same position. Posted this in the OT just earlier
Yep, all doneEnjoy! You're in for a ride, as long as you're checking out the story events too.
(For example if you're at Ch.8 you should have already covered the events: Operation Cube, Arctic Warfare, and soon Deep Dive.) Right?
