I'll preface that I don't consider myself f2p (I don't have problems with getting the battle pass, monthly pass, a costume I really want, something I consider a very good offer if the overall price is not that different from a normal game price, but I'll never go beyond dolphin and most of all I never, under no circumstances, spend money or paid currency directly on crystal/rolls)
First week of GF2 done. All 6 campaign chapters 100% done, will do hard stages as they unlock and when I fully finish the event. Event part 1 100% on both normal and hard, will finish part 2 over the next day
Unfortunately after reading all the posts here and on other sites I can't deny that my (no rerolled) account is extremely blessed, way too much I probably wasted my entire year 1 luck on the first week alone
Beginner banner result:
30 rolls on the Suomi banner result:
"All right, I shouldn't push my luck further, but... even if I lose the 50/50 it's more likely I get something new or a QJ dupe than Vepley" result:
Oh, I forgot to say my first standard banner SSR was QJ's gold weapon too, so I didn't have to waste my redundant pieces on her weapon either
Luckily the one doll I want the most can be obtained for free by playing the boss battle mode so I'm not worried, but oh well I just finished chapter 6 yesterday and there is no reason to hoard standard tickets anyway, and here's the result:
There is a saying in italy that translated goes like this: "you got to 30, you might as well go to 31 too", so I'll just cut it short: I also have Perkele's and Sword Mommy's weapons (and Mezzaluna with the redundant pieces)
On principles I refuse to roll for dupes no matter how important they are, so this is it for the launch month, every ticket and crystal will be hoarded from now on until january
So yeah, I hope the next banner is not Cutekay because I'll definitely fail the 50/50 and hit pity both times with how things went so far
Since posting about good luck is the first way to lose good luck forever, I'll also give a few pointers about the dolls I rolled (or their roles more in general)
It's evident why Qiongjiu is so high tier. In a previous post I wrote about how "overwatch is king just like Xcom", but I used the wrong term since overwatch refers to attacking an enemy during the enemy turn. The correct definition is "Support Attacks are king", and the jade dragon is the true queen of support attacks. Slap her near an enemy team and watch as she helps dealing the killing blow after each other units attack, her entire kit is build for this (outside of her knife throw which is still a very useful tool to get a far away enemy beyond cover). She, on average, halves the turns it takes to kill a boss, and since each attack also help in breaking their defense, you can argue it actually reduces turn counts to 1/3, if not less. Honestly people that rerolled for Suomi should have rerolled the beginner banner for her instead, support attacks are that broken in this game
Suomi makes an entire category of dolls redundant. Why use healers if you never take HP damage? But you have to admit Suomi is probably one of the dolls that needs investment to be properly used. First, being able to use her ultimate (the one that generates the shield) on turn one is a game changer, so unlocking her "gain 3 points of ultimate bar turn one" key at level 20 is a must. Second, both her first dupe or her gold weapon are a great aid to her kit. I don't roll dupes but I know her first dupe upgrades her ultimate to also heal, which is of great help if a unit shield gets broken by a strong boss. But her weapon also has a similar effect in making the shield much stronger (let's say, from a value of 1/2 doll Max HP on average they ger boosted to 3/4), which again helps a lot in never losing a single HP point. Suomi is also a support attacker and she can do some good damage with a good weapon equipped. I will say support attacks are not a very clear concept, most of them depend on specific conditions (enemy has a debuff, doll has a buff, target is standing on certain tiles, target walks near a unit, counterattacks etc). Always read you unit skill descriptions to see how much they can actually do, in some cases you can be positively surprised
There is no need to go into details on why Krolik sucks, and the fact there is only a second melee unit even after a year in the CN version is clear proof of this. But Ulrid feels like how Krolik would be if the game implemented a MOD3 feature. Ulrid's kit is basically a patched Krolik kit. Krolik can't attack diagonally (only the 4 tiles around her)? Ulrid melee skills can. Krolik is forced to always go out of cover to approach the enemy? Ulrid has a middle range bow attack. Krolik risks getting herself exposed to attack an enemy? Ulrid can move again after using one of her melee skills so she can go back behind cover. Krolik needs to kill 3 enemies to gain one extra move? Ulrid uses her ultimate bar to attack up to 3 times in a single turn. Ulrid is still not fully reliable but she is a marked improvement on the previous blade doll. She also has a counter but compared to the other dolls its less obvious how to trigger it
Before talking about Sabrina, I'll first say an important thing to consider: in this game dolls that use the same weapon type can have completely different roles. Vepley uses a shotgun, but she and her kit are obviously dps (and displacement) focused and this can also be seen on her stats. Same for Lotta. But Sabrina is a full blown tank (though she can still AoE attack or destroy cover like other SGs), she works how SGs worked in GF1 (and since we're talking about this, the same is true for ARs, Groza is a tank but the others are dps). Her kit, especially her ultimate, can help your dolls survive. The main problem with Sabrina is that her kit is not an immediate win button (or in a tank case a "no damage button"). You need to use her other skills to help her get her skill rotation in order and to counterattack. But if you do get to that point, she can parry and counter a boss 3/4 times in an enemy turn, and each one of those counters can also trigger Qiongjiu's support attacks, further helping in boss killing
