My Thrustmaster TWCS throttle just arrived so I can finally play some games with a full (if overpriced for what it offers) hotas (with the FCS stick). How about some suggestions for simple fun stuff best with a hotas (so not some botched port with poor configuration or game you'd otherwise think is best with a hotas but is somehow tuned to gamepad configurations instead like Ace Combat 7 was at one point)? I wanted to try MechWarrior 4 since it's one of my favorite oldies and I've played it with the stick quite a bit but for that I'll first have to fiddle with the Thrustmaster target software to make the stick and throttle recognized as one device since it's an older game and you can only set one device at a time or something along those lines so yeah, not that for now.

The throttle seems decent, nice smooth action, two 4-way, one 8-way, one er, 2-way (it only goes up and down) hat, one full analog stick, 3 buttons and the rocker pedal things, it's a decent amount of inputs which is good since the stick is lacking (buttons reachable by holding the stick itself and not off to its base).

Downloading Project Wingman at the moment and I already have Ace Combat 7 so I'll try that, see if it has any decent presets, I had trouble with stick + kb be4.

My Quest 3S didn't get here on time even though after dispatch seemed late I contacted Amazon and they assured me it'd be here on the 18th, now it missed the day and their response was sorry it happened we try our best and we won't search for it like a lost delivery until [ ] as the latest delivery date so wait for that, but we're sure you'll get it sooner. They didn't fill in the blank, I just got the copy paste without the date inbetween the [ ] so I don't even know what that is, lol.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is the answer. You can configure down the hardest core stuff if you want but with that setup you should be ready to fly pretty much everything

My PC can't run that. Also yeah I want something with a game in it. I had some fun aeons ago with MSFS 2004 which had a sort of campaign taking you from the smallest, simplest crafts to bigger ones and tutorializing decently enough but the last one didn't seem to have that anyway (but maybe the newer one does).

Im surprised pillars of eternity 2 wasnt on my most played list, since i got nearly 100 hours in it. Great game that everyone should play and i just started on pathfinder wrath of the righteous last week and im loving it aswell so far.
2025 replay will probably be cs2, avowed, KC2, rebirth and civ 7, Its gonna be a busy year.

My steam replay:

I re-organized my disks earlier this year, moved around alot of games, so I opened alot of them just to test if there were no problems after the migrations.

These are the ones I actually played at least a bit outside of testing:

Other than these, outside of Steam the game I played the most this year on PC was FFXIV, the chart with the playtime by month even has the month of July nearly empty since I barely played anything other than FFXIV that month (since it was the release of Dawntrail). xD

This looks like a cool game. I think that lashman has already shared it in give past.

Think of a more depressing take on game devs story

The dude how is making the game itself is a Japanese dev that mainly VR games in the past.

He is the creator of Money bath VR.

He is still making games but it looks like he has moved away from VR games though.

He is also very active still on Twitter talking about his indie game devs experience.

PS the lonely dev game has a cool morality feature. One of the things you can do is just rip off some one else game off .....I wonder if anyone has ever done that before.

Looks like I play a lot of GAAS games. And tbh, I spent more time playing mihoyo gacha games than anything on this list this year. And then I'm perpetually annoyed and upset that I don't find enough time to play all the single player games I want to play :disapproval-blob:

I'll also add that I'm surprised again this year how low the Steam median stats are - 4 games played, 6 day streak and 13 achievements in the whole year. I don't want to benchmark those numbers against people like who us who consider this a primary hobby but damn that feels low, right?

Edit: Wait, published by Gungho?

Edit 2:
An enhanced Ys X was announced as well. The Atlus route...

It's difficult to get excited about this, despite the animation looking fantastic. The localisation might be good, but no PH3 means it's going to be a worse PC port. I guess we'll see what they'll come up with.
I having been disliking the fact that they license out their games to multiple companies because of varying port quality and availability of language support. I remember Ys X clouded leopard version got pulled from steam because how bad it was. I know Falcom is a small company but its overseas releases are simply chaotic.

Hopefully this PC port will be competent enough, although I am not holding my breath.

I'm sure there was an "indie game studio" management game a good while ago where you could deal with piracy and plagiarism and also copy a rival's game yourself too.

The more i think about it the more i realise it might have been about 10 years ago?

oh no.

It's called Game Dev Tycoon and it was released in 2012/2013.
Fek.

Does this mean that there'll be another cycle for YS X of coming out in japanese in 2025 and then we'll wait for the PH3 version?

Wait, published by Gungho?
Wait GungHo is publishing a Trails game??? That's weird. Is that a Japan version only thing?
Apparently some former XSEED staff is now at GungHo?

Got a tip that explains things tidely: the old XSEED president is now over at GungHo, and a bunch of the oldguard followed suit. That's probably why, then!

EDIT: Or maybe not, there's a post in "that" other forum saying this is outdated info, most of the former XSEED staff left Gungho years ago and only the former president remains there? Dunno.

Can we be sure PH3 isn't involved? Durante hasn't said anything and I'd hope that means he isn't able to comment on it yet (although it has been less than 24h so he probably hasn't even had time to post anything (though he has check the thread)).

Well, I mostly bought it to support a great port (haven't started it yet and won't for a while). As the cuck I am, I'll probably pre-order this one too.

We're not involved at all as of now.

(We'd certainly be happy to; personally I'd want that to happen even just as a fan for the reason that I'm pretty sure no one cares for the obscure PC features we do, and I want them in the game :p)

This sounds more like a pseudo sequel? The wording is so confusing.
According to the Japanese announcement page, new content are "added" into the original game and make it a new entry in the Ys series.

Yeah, not a sequel.

Google translate is pretty accurate here
『イースⅩ -NORDICS-』に新規ストーリーや新たなる冒険の舞台、多数の要素を追加し、大幅にグレードアップした『イースⅩ -Proud NORDICS-』をシリーズ最新作として2025年に発売することが決定!
"Ys X -Proud NORDICS-" is a significantly upgraded version of "Ys X -NORDICS-" that will add a new story, a new adventure setting, and numerous other elements, and is set to be released in 2025 as the latest title in the series!

The GungHo news is more worring for NISA honestly. We know they're not doing so hot, but losing Falcom is basically a death sentence
not clear that this really means they are losing anything. They might have just been to busy with Daybreak 2 and Kai in their pipelines. Given that translating the text was not going to be part of this contract and require likely some licensing with XSeed for the English script (which GungHo will also do, no way they have their own English script ready by fall 2025 when they just now got the contract), I could also NISA just not being interested since the margins will be worse than their usual Trails contracts.

I pray for the day where this industry can be done with this sort of bullshit. Just make DLC like everyone else for fucks sake, stop fleecing people with new SKUs.

Fek.

I knew about the piracy thing in the game but didn't know that it also has a plagiarism feature as well.

In the solo Dev game it looks more like the moral feature is something that is used to gauge your life and the stuff you did. In otherwords you made a lot of money of video games but you did it by immoral means and basically just copied of other smaller indie titles.

Also I mainly meant to say, has any dev ever plagiarized another dev? Not so much about the feature in the solo Dev game itself, but the stuff that actually leads to lawsuits.

It's happened in real life, Falcon did this in its early days. I was actually going to bring back that story especially with how the president recently died. Since they plagiarized stuff from Origin, which ended up costing them a potentially big deal since they were plagiarizing Origins work from Ultima in one of the Dragon Slayer games. Basically taking art from Ultima and just copy and pasting it into Dragon Slayer. The artist that did the art for Ultima didn't hear about the story until decades later.
