How much of that 0.3% of starfield was the damn loading screens lol

I like this one

And since Valve hasn't given Steam's MAU in several years, this is now the absolute truth and nothing can change my mind.

I've been almost entirely on Steam/Gamepass/Minecraft for years now.

I think the last time I beat a PS4 game to conclusion was Death Stranding at launch.

But seriously wtf are so many people doing on Roblox? Does that thing even have enough good content to keep around so many kids? It really feels like its own social media or something.

I like Starfield more than recent Fallout and Skyrim, but wtf at those load times. It felt like I was playing off a 5400rpm drive not an SSD.

I'm wondering what the rumored Oblivion remake with UE could look like. If they can eliminate any type of loading screens within the areas and cities it would be incredible.

That is an advantage UE will have over Gamebryo. I would even be ok with sacrificing some modding if it meant their game worlds being more cohesive and less fragmented.

Other than the loading screens, one of the biggest issues I had with Starfield was its immersion breaking, it chose to be first person but didn't commit to it. Like one simple thing, when docking the ship to a station, instead of showing it and breaking from the character, just have a screen on the dashboard that has the same video, also speaking of which don't keep switching between first person and third person.

They have to stop using cutscenes for these comparisons. The video has them switching on the fly and I can't tell a single difference, but that's probably because rebirth's cutscenes are among the highest quality in the industry to begin with.

The gameplay shots I can't really see anything between ultra and recommended. Low has neutered grass that's mostly it from what I can tell.

Now that Switch 2 have officially been revealed. I'm assuming that we will be hearing a lot of who cares about UMPC. The Switch 2 is better. Which it maybe, for some people.

I'll likely end up buying one, when they eventually make a special edition one to go along with the Gen 5 remake.

As of now some sentimental. e.i. being not being jerks is that if it runs on Steam Deck then it will also run on Switch 2. Which seems to be a fair assessment. Switch 2 shouldn't have an issue running current gen game with some exceptions. The funny thing though, is how the "current" gen is already half way over" and "next Gen" will be out in 5 years. But will we really see any drastic increase in games? Or will they still just look the same? Look at the PS4. That came out well over 11 years ago now and games are still being made for it. Games for Switch will likely still be made into 2028.

Not many graphically intensive games on the horizon.

GTA6
Witcher 4
Fable
Elder Scrolls 6

Are the only big ones that come to mind. So yea these handhelds will be just fine for the rest of the decade. Game dev times are so long and everything is so expensive I wouldn't expect anything groundbreaking for a while.

This gives Valve plenty of time too for the Deck 2. They can really future proof it until the mid 2030s.

And cloud streaming will be doing a lot of legwork too. GeForceNow will still make Deck 1 a viable handheld for many years to come.

Nintendo will be making games for Switch 2 which won't be demanding anyways. Wtvr big new Zelda they make next is still going to be in the vein of BOTW and TOTK. So unless they make some crazy and demanding open world 3D Mario then the Switch 2 will be just fine for them.

Switch 2 looks hot. I want one to get the Switch back catalogue and whatever new gems Nintendo releases. But I do hope the price is good like the original...

Then I'll probably get so used to handheld that I'll also be going for a Deck 2 instead of a new PC, lol... Are there stuff like office suites on Steam Deck? I don't do much specialised PC work any more to care for all Windows software compatibility, just very basic stuff needed here and there for every day use, pdfs, word processing, some image processing, etc. I'd definitely wanna just connect it to monitor and mkb/gamepad at times (and additional non game storage).

Welp, they confirmed Switch 2 BC will support physical games so I guess it's time for me to start stocking up on Switch games lol. They did say not every game will be supported but since the ones I'm interested in are all first-party, they're probably a safe bet.

They probably mean games with accessories like Labo sets, Ring Fit, etc.

I think the price for the Switch 2 will be between $399 - $499. Nintendo doesn't want to take a loss on each console sold.

Why guess pricing before even seeing the specs? Will be heavily affected by what's in it, the screen, the soc (regardless of manufacturing nm), ram & storage...

I'm hoping 349 (eur) but I dunno how feasible it is for a decent spec bump from the original Switch (which is still at ~300 for the standard non OLED/Lite model).

I wish I was happy the damn thing is finally announced but I know now starts the insufferable hype phase of conjecture of what it can do...

Followed by the inevitable honeymoon phase of shouting from every rooftop that it's the best thing mankind has ever made.

By 2027 there'll be the sudden realization it's just another underpowered box. I just hope I can survive the craziness till then...

And the first year of the Switch 2 will be full of crossgen games/ports that Nintendo will make sure run on the first Switch.

2nd year outdated

3rd year Switch 2 lite

4th year OLED version

And then years 5-8 you will get choppy 30fps

tbh I expect nearly all Switch 1 software will be compatible, aside from a few weird things like Labo that require peripherals designed around the specific form factor of Switch 1. My main question regarding BC is to what extent Switch 1 games will get framerate/resolution upgrade patches for Switch 2

Gaming communities are increasingly silo'd.
We don't know the Roblox side of gaming, nor Roblox people know ours.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is 90% off

HEADS UP!
Some mods (including vanilla plus mods) require Anniversary Edition DLC be owned.

Montezuma's Revenge 40th Anniversary Edition is out on Steam but I kinda don't like the new look at all so I was gonna wait for the Director's Cut version to be released on Steam but it seems like they've relegated that to DLC for the 40th Anniversary Edition instead so with no real communication and word on if it will also release stand alone on Steam I bought it on gog for 8 euros instead, hopefully there's no fuckery like the Steam version (s) having a patch it won't get.

There's also the non Director's Cut version on both Steam and GOG which seems to be incomplete as it was back then, fixed with the DC and AE, though that version's enhanced visuals option (which is way more fitting than the 3D in AE) is NOT in the DC (at least on the gog version), wtf? Most weirdly handled game.

Anyway the DC seems fine for my tastes except for the horrid mobile style title/option screen etc., there are some CRT settings and a squished 4:3 mode, lol.

Someone at Sony really needs an intervention. The higher ups are just addicted to forcing their studios to make live service nonsense. I doubt they learned their lesson either, they'll just double down on this, I'm sure

I legit can't believe gaas GOW is what Bluepoint has been working on for all these years ahahahahahahahahah
Years and years of speculation since, if not before, Demon Souls Remake. Hundreds of users predicting their next project monthly. All of this amounted to a gaas GoW, which isn't even going to be released either way
I can't, I really can't ahahahahahahahahahah
