I'm near the end of the first map and right now it's my frontrunner for GOTY (it's the only 2025 game I've played so far).
Really happy to see this game selling so well on PC. From what I 've seen and read about it, it's everything I want from an open world RPG, unlike most other AAA games in this genre like Veilguard.

I don't know what to think about the shitstorm on the other site because the director seems to support alt-right people. I know several people who are voting for alt-right parties in my country and I definitely wouldn't call these people Nazi's. They are just tired of our country being overrun with immigrants, which brings more and more cultural/language issues and crimes. We had several shootings with automatic machine guns on the streets of Brussels the past few days for example, and in several cities, almost half of the 6yo kids doesn't speak Dutch or French at home.

I would never vote alt-right because these parties are a huge threat for democracy. But I do understand why other people do.

I played the Promise Mascot Agency's demo and once my time was over I wanted more. Looks like it's going to be a buy for me once it's released.

There's a lot of attention on avowed right now as being a completely sauceless game
Depends on your echo chamber, seeing positive buzz myself. The Steam reviews are pretty positive overall (even including all those so woke because optional pronouns bashers).. I enjoyed what little I played, I wish I could run it better. New Blood's guy is liking it too at a dozen hours in (and he didn't like Outer Worlds).

I don't pay any attention to steam reviews or user reviews of any kind, I cannot stress how little I value the faceless masses' opinions on anything (especially now more than ever). I mean I looked up outer worlds after seeing this and they have that as very positive and it's one of the worst rpgs I've played in my life and most people I've seen talk about that game also don't think it was very good. I've seen enough about avowed to see that it carries the dull writing the pillars games have into this and I've seen how awful the towns are too. Game looks like the perfect definition of sauceless.

Then say it doesn't look like something you'd like instead of "a lot of attention" or whatever you now say doesn't matter while frothing opinions as objective facts.

Kinda funny how much you care about something so devoid of interest. Probably seen you talk about the game more than anyone else here. Play what you like.

I wasn't still talking about it. I did a little throwaway jab at it because I found it funny that a game that dull came out at the same time I was playing something just as dull and lacking any value to the genre. It was one sentence about avowed versus a paragraph about mana.

Apparently 32-bit PhysX games no longer works on Nvidia 50 series cards due to 32-bit CUDA being depreciated. So using PhysX in games such as Mirror's Edge, Borderlands 2, Arkham Asylum etc. will see PhysX run in software with big performance loss.

Alex Battaglia said:
I am seeing reports of this and I have yet to test it myself - but I think it is completely unacceptable to software lock the future Nvidia cards to having worse backwards compatibility. Completely unacceptable. I see no good reason for this at all. And even if there were one, I do not care.

Running these games with CPU PhysX emulation will completely trash their performance in all likelihood. Why should a user with a 4060 have a better experience in an old game than a user with a 5090? Do Nvidia have brainworms?
Since I still like to play older games, I guess I dodged a bullet in getting a 4070 Super recently instead of going for a 50 series card.

Yep KC:D 2 is terrific. Really enjoying it. About 10 hours in but most of that has been wandering around gawking at the beautiful countryside.

I played KC:D first and got all the way to the end where a bug wouldn't let me actually finish the game. So frustrating. Felt like someone had ripped the last page out of a book.

2 definitely improves and refines a lot of the first game mechanics. Amazed at how well it runs as well, Its a very good looking game and I haven't really encountered any major issues yet, which is pretty rare these days for a newly launched game.

EDIT - I don't know why those smileys are there!

Isn't PhysX 32 bit a subset of PhysX 64 bit in terms of the API? If so, this is even more of a baffling choice.
I know at least for some games there are mods that replace/update their supported version of it, so there will be ways around this, but it's crazy that users would have to work to allow old games to run well when Nvidia could easily afford to put in the technical work to keep supporting these titles.

One thing that actually bothers me about the new Civ game is that you no longer choose a country to play but instead a leader. Sure I haven't played too much so could miss a bit, but I miss how every country felt different and had their own visual and audio. Hell at worst one could argue that no longer playing as country but instead a leader plays on the current fascistic populism sweeping the world, the reason Trump is above the law of the country he is supposed to lead, how other dictators did in the past. Having the leader be the more important part in the game ignores the fact that the leader is supposed to be a servant of the public and the country, not the other way around.

So that's how SLI will come back, we'll put a second GPU just to properly run all the legacy games!
I'm joking but not so much at this point

This reminds me of when I got a new GPU in my first year of college, I think I was upgrading from a GTX 660 to a 970, and in one of Nvidia's benchmarks with PhysX having the old GPU in there and assigned to do PhysX work made it run way faster.

Yeah, it’s one of my major criticisms, and is part of why I feel Civ VII is devoid of personality.

I don’t feel like I’m building an empire - I feel like I’m just watching numbers go up on a spreadsheet with a map GUI.

And part of that is how civilizations don’t feel unique anymore.

I think it might just go back to 5, you know. I only played 6 because I thought some of its less good systems would be improved in 7 and I didn’t want to get too comfortable not having them, but even those have been sandpapered away.

I was really rooting for Firaxis, but they’ve totally fucked it. I’m so disappointed.

They confirmed in the news post that III Remastered is coming! I would guess tomorrow lol.
Oh, cool. The post wasn't live yet when I took that screenshot. Love how they also included "What about AC Liberation" when it's already been done lol. It's the AC Chronicles trilogy we need to know about now... Along with all the other games not named AC or Far Cry lol.

I hope they add them to The Division 1 as well. Division 2 got them like 6 months ago.
