It's done. Not going to write an extensive review but throw out a few thoughts. It's the best RPG I've played since Baldur's Gate 3 (sorry Metaphor and Rebirth) and one of the best RPGs in the past decade; up there with the likes of Persona 5. It has a great cast of characters that I cared about and rooted for. There are some very fun side quests that flesh out the world. The game world is extremely immersive and exploring is fun and there is a constant sense of wanting to know what's in that house or up that hill and it reminds me of Elder Scrolls in that sense.

I have a few negatives related to gameplay mechanics. The biggest flaw is your character's gear maxes out too early. I had the best armor and weapons in the game at the 80 hour mark and didn't have nearly as much incentive to explore any more. I'm not asking for magic crossbows or flaming swords, but more unique looking loot would have been appreciated. Also I wish there was more customization as the crafting systems are underbaked (and I would have like armorsmithing and cooking).

The first KCD is a 6/10 where it's extremely flawed, but you can see a lot of passion went into it. KCD 2 has the framework of a 10/10 game but some nitpicks knock it down a tad. If you have the time, I would suggest playing the original if to see how much Warhorse refined their work, but if not then the sequel is a perfectly great beginning spot. My pick for GOTY (for now).

Oh wait I guess I did write an extensive review.

Two things for which I will gladly shit on Steam from a very big height.

- Cookies, what are they for ? At this point I think the Steam website suffers from Alzheimer, no other explanation.
Always, always forgetting me, and having to ID. And God forbid I try to ID on a tablet because I will have to launch and confirm myself the Steam app on the same tablet. Is this a skit ?
It doesn't even seem to work that way on desktop where I was just forgotten on the site and had to use the mobile app to ID.

There is no consistency, the only constant is forgetting and making ID annoying.

- Discounts. The recent-ish new way of displaying discounts. Is there a more obvious anti-consumer way of doing it than hiding the discount percentage ? You want to know the discount, calculate it yourself !
I see the discount percentages everywhere, in release lists/game pages/even the embeds here. The only thing Steam forgets for me is the age check as I do clear browser data every so often. Only had "being online yet being as if I'm signed off in certain views" when the store's very occasionally super hammered🤷‍♂️

Yesterday the Atelier Yumia demo was running effortlessly, today when I first tried it performance was unplayable, even on low settings. Rebooted the game and suddenly everything was back to normal. Weird how this shit happens.

Man I want to kind of buy Lies of P but it has DLC that is coming so when I see something like this I do not want to buy...ugh. How many DLCs will the game have? Will they even give a discount to existing owners? I probably should wait for a complete set. All that goes thru my head.

Tbh, I had completely forgotten that this game even existed. They may have updated others that I couldn't find, I guess? lol
Listen man. Extreme sports games have all but vanished. So someone still doing them is a huge thing. :crying-face:

Riders Republic had potential but I dropped it in a month or so. I miss ONRUSH more actually.

I played OnRush recently (PS4), and I was quite bummed lol. Firstly, it was expensive to find in India; secondly, it got boring quickly on singleplayer. Plus all rewards being online-only unlocks (online doesn't work anymore) removed any incentive to play the game.

They're supposed to be releasing the sequel next year, so I doubt they're going to keep producing more content for this one.

(Lies of P is really good from what I've played)

Seven years ago Assassin's Creed Odyssey had 62K CCUs, now Assassin's Creed Shadows will maybe reach 35K? Ubisoft successfully shot its own feet by sending its games to the EGS and Uplay gulags for many years. Now they'll have to try and slowly build momentum on Steam again.

they could start by removing udontplay, and the 78 layers of DRM they have on every single game

Ah, World of Goo 2, the sequel to one of the first indie megahits that everyone forgot about.

What the heck were they doing to need an EGS contract? Surely they had money from the first game, right?
What I don't understand is that by looking at the trailer, I don't see any substantial changes from World of Goo 1 that would entice me to play it. It seems to similar to the first game even if they do show new things (blower thingies, bouncy balls, lava)

I've only got to play AC Shadows for about 90 minutes but it runs great so far. Game seems like it'll be your typical Ubislop, but sometimes I don't mind eating from the trough.

Asked for a refund on Rise of Ronin so I can buy Ass Creed.

I wonder why they take so long now, they used to be almost instant.

Cool, new Painkiller, Industria 2 trailer and other fun stuff. Okay holy shit they keep adding more, who's even gonna remember all this if there's like 100 games.
Edit: ok it's finally over, lol.

40k concurrent isn't all that bad for AssShadows in this first day but it isn't great either.

They probably need this thing to sell 10+ million lifetime to justify the size and long dev time. On top of the fact that the company isn't in great shape.

They should get to those sales figures with discounts over time but it still may not be good enough for them.

Either way Ubi is gonna need to a big showcase this summer with a lot of future announcements/trailers to keep morale high.

They will need a big fall game too of some kind. I don't know what that will even be.

Persona 4 Rerun is probably coming.
I didn't play P3R but P3P felt fine to me even if kind of dated.

But P4G has a certain charm to it. I don't know if a remake is really needed just yet.

This probably means Persona 6 is many years away too. I would guess a PS6 title at this point lol.

One of the funny things about P4 remake is how P3 and P2 were the most requested remakes by fans. P3 was remade but you do have the issue with P2 where it's just very different and might be harder to remake.

Anyway. It seems that Ubisoft is using the fact that AC Shadows is the top seller on Steam as a selling point on Twitter. They really are pushing for Steam stuff more.

Anyway the Steam numbers debate will/has/and shall keep on being an interesting one. Do the numbers means anything? Yes and no. They do at least how people how the game is currently doing.

The game is available on other platforms as well and it's only been more recently where Ubisoft has been trying to go back to Steam. You do have people that say the numbers are low and even people on here that taunt the game to make a point and well they are lower than other games.

Now the positive aspect of numbers in general is something that people can celebrate (and yes also make fun of games). Stuff like MHWilds did some crazy numbers and that was a reason alone to celebrate. Compared to other devs/pubs I don't think Capcom did much to celebrate that fact. indie games and smaller companies would have used the fact that their game has such a high concurrent player count as a very good thing. But typically that kinda stuff is reserved for the "we sold over 1 million units, in under 1 week".

There was some stuff about MHWilds that I'm still confused about such as the high user score on PSN. Within less than 1 hour the game had some 10k+ reviews on PSN. Which confused me, but you can't see much other than the about of stars.

Anyway for this Spring Sale I just purchased Undertale and it's soundtrack, which I also have on vinyl.
