Community MetaSteam | March 2025 - Ronin's Creed of the Split Atom

It comes as part of PS+ (the expensive two tiers) and also as part of something called “Blacknut”, which is apparently a cloud streaming service.

The PS+/game pass higher/highest tiers don't include the new games day one afaik. Just "classics/older games".

I did some extensive work on the site. please let Lash know what's broken

looks like when posting it says their is an error but it does post. and looks like whatever you typed kind of hangs around.

I'll have to fix that
So that's why the site wasn't loading when I tried checking it a few hours ago.

yeah, but . . . it's Ubisoft+. Doesn't it have like a negative amount of users?

I finished all the ubisoft games made in last 5 years on Ubisoft plus. Why pay 70 euro when I can pay 18 and have exact same experience? And it's not like Ubisoft games are good enough for me to want to own them. One playthrough is enough, in fact I am usually sick of their games dozens of hours before they end (looking at you, Valhalla, Avatar and Far Cry 6).

Booted up my gaming PC this morning and Windows 11 updates have somehow broken my auto-login settings.

Spent 30 minutes that I’d have liked to spend playing games fixing it.

And now I’m going to look at replacing my 4080 with a 9070 XT and switching to Linux. I’m so, so tired of this terrible OS.

Yeah I think if I ever would afford to build a PC I would go 100% for a Linux build.

Ys IX? More like Ys 7/10. It was alright. Now that I think about it, all the games since Ys Seven have been roughly 7/10, except maybe Ys VIII, I think that was an 8/10. Now onto Ys X, maybe.

Besides the terrible envy I feel about people with enough disposable income to swap pc parts every few years, I'm also looking at switching to AMD for the sole reason of ditching win10/11 but I'm completely lost about which distro is the best for a non-eccentric linux user that wants to avoid fiddling with settings as much as possible. Any recommendation?

I was going to use Bazzite. But I have a HTPC, so my needs are a little unorthodox.

Bazzite is often mentioned as a good choice. I havent personally tried it, though. I've been using Manjaro (which is fairly simple to use) and Arch (on my laptop) for a long time now, both with occassional issues that might deter people. But I feel Ubuntu or its derivative Linux Mint might still be the easiest go-to for many people.

If you feel lost in the long list of distros:
The Linux world has so many distros but if you strip it down you realise most of them are based on a lot fewer distros, giving you a shorter list of distro families, so to speak:

Arch Linux — has derivaties such a SteamOS, Manjaro, EndeavorOS
Arch itself is not beginner friendly, it is very much a tinker-yourself-kind of deal; but its derivaties can be fairly easy to handle.
You can even install SteamOS directly on a PC (given you have AMD hardware), as showcased by LTT on Youtube but I wouldnt necessarily recommend that.

Debian GNU/Linux — has derivates such as Ubuntu, which in turn has derivates such as Linux Mint, elementary, PopOS
Debian itself is fairly easy, I would say, but Ubuntu is still a very safe bet

Fedora — has derivaties such as Bazzite which is tailored to be gaming-focused and "like SteamOS but for generic PCs"

OpenSUSE — it exists and I tried it in the early 2000s but couldnt tell you much about it otherwise

Gentoo — Dont know much about this other than it requires a lot of work

On top of these distro families, you have a choice of desktop environment, there are a few main ones: KDE Plasma (which is used on the Steam Deck/desktop mode), GNOME, Xfce, Budgie, Cinnamon, Cosmic, MATE and many others.
These really come down to personal preference. GNOME has a very simplistic design but you can tweak a lot with extensions. KDE Plasma is much more customizable out of the box, but the defaults should please most people. Cinnamon and MATE both have a more "classic" (90s/2000s) look. I myself use KDE Plasma.
Usually distros will let you choose which DE you use.

Also remember you can try out many distros with a live USB stick! And I recommend watching Youtube videos covering the distro you might be interested in (or, say, a video like "5 best Linux distros in 2025")

I know getting into Linux can look daunting because there are so many options. I myself like having options and customizing my OS, but I realise that default options that just work are important, too.

For more linuxy discussions, we also have a Linux thread (and for good measure, another one)

I just learned that Silent Hill f is written by Ryukishi07. (Yeah, slowpoke.png)

Now I'm actually interested.

Edit: Also, I got a server error popup when posting this, but it actually went through.

may wanna wait on that. Ys X is getting an Atlus-style upgraded version later this year, and that might come to the West either as a new SKU or a DLC. Either way, will probably be the definitive version going forward.

It's sad that there wasn't a follow-up to epics like Higurashi and Umineko.
But I think the death of his best friend and partner-in-crime halfway through Umineko influenced this.

Anyone have this "issue" where after you have checked out a game page in your library (collection), when you go back, the library jumpp to the top?

I bought it on release to support it, but I hadn't even finished Ys IX then so I hadn't even booted it up when they announced that new release. Also, IIRC Falcom are porting the game in-house, so it sounds like it will be a disaster, at a least at the beginning.

Posting again. At the last stretch. We are all on modern shiz now 🎉

Now it's time for Lash to do his side and then I'll optimize and tighten it all up

No errors when posting now. Which is good. You're gonna want no errors. Also editing works.

The new style took me by surprise. Thanks for doing the hard work so that we can shitpost.

Anyone else triggered by the second row of reaction emojis with just 1 emoji?

Oh, and the whole row of post options above the writing field is invisible except for the drop down arrows. Maybe a skin issue.
