Hey all - I was planning on an update and fate has made it so that this weekend is the best time for it.
Some of you may have seen the following:
So yeah...new engine on the horizon.

And one that appears slightly more suitable to the Hunter's Journals, as this seems to have more verticality in the characters so I could possibly commission more humanoid figures. Oh, and yes, the landscapes and cities will be much richer with this sort of setup, for sure.
Now, I had made a quick build of the opening and run it past people for feedback. This convinced me to extend my first vertical slice to the intro, tutorials for 2 classes and chapter 2 - Your Hand in Mine - before pausing for polish and hardening. I had also decided to let graphics lag behind and complete the sections before going back for graphical passes, as otherwise I might be waiting a looooong time twiddling my thumbs!
The current status is that the Veteran is in, as are a number of tweaks to the engine to support the planned stats and levelling up structure. I have also completed the critical path for Your Hand in Mine, and was moving the very basic string of events into unique maps so I could expand the dialog and start building in tutorials, time of day, etc as they appear. With this new engine floating about I will keep at it, but will pause commissioning graphics other than splash screens, title art, etc as those are unlikely to change.
In the meantime progress has been steady, without pushing my time budget as much. With any luck I should be able to port everything over quickly and cleanly, and if not...I'll just finish this project in MZ and do the next in U2U.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
