Played a bit of Battlefield 1 last night. So far, the campaign is better than of 4 & 3.
It's a beautiful game but the photorealism and stupid attention to detail makes it difficult to quickly understand situations in the heat of the moment.

That grass tho o_O

Battlefield 1 had a decently fun multiplayer, for a little while. I played it a bit a few months ago when I had a totally free weekend with nothing to do. There's a huge slog, though, if you want to try to unlock the weapons. This sucks worse when you realize that the gun that keeps killing you over and over is walled off behind that slog.

It's really all about how unique the WWI setting seems after a long history of WWII in gaming.

to be fair - until recently (with CoD) we didn't really have WWII in AAA for a looooooong time :p

Green Man Gaming black friday sale suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
For example, most of their Bethesda titles, even with the additional discount coupon they have for Bethesda titles, is significantly more expensive than other stores.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is € 15,00 discounted, and using the additional 15% discount it's € 12,75.
There are several stores that are selling the game cheaper, and not long ago, Gamesplanet had the game for € 7,39.

Hey, anyone having problems with Idlemaster lately? I was trying to idle some cards but couldnt pass the login screen, it just returns me for put my login again, and again...
Answering my own question for anyone looking to drop the cards before the next sale, i tested CardIdleRemastered, but i didnt liked it much. Tested the Idlemaster extended v1.3, if you use the fast mode its really really fast to drop the cards. it dropped like 50 cards in a couple of hours.

Weeeooow, DX-Ball 2 got released. Came to the last board of a boardset before one of those shitty death powerups got me. Bleh, top of the leaderboards though!
Any brick-breaking game just reminds me of Shatter and how that game never had their deserved sequel

Anyway, gonna preorder Darksiders III soon and hope It doesn't suck.

Mere moments away from steam sale hype > angry the store won't load for an hour > disappointment at sale prices routine.

well if it's any help - the only early impressions i've heard so far are all positive :) REALLY positive :) so there's that
Well that's nice to hear. A few early trailers makes it seems a little meh but the last one got me hype again.

Shatter, I can't get over how nasty the name sounds. XD
Shatter? I hardly know her!

Looks like this year, reveal of awards was pushed to Februrary, so probably Chinese new year sale. Maybe Valve have planned something new for winter sale (j/k ofc)

Seems like this just launched out of nowhere

Forget cybernetics and steam power! Come with us back to the Middle Ages where WOOD is the cutting edge, leading energy source!

Why? Because there’s MACHINEGUNS THAT SHOOT BOMBS. That’s why.

WOODPUNK brings you back to the Middle Ages, but with a catch: You are an expert inventor who (stupidly) chose a science career in an era dominated by art majors. Using wood and other scrap material, you’ve made yourself the ultimate tool: A robot that can create weapons.
This grotesque and brut- … uh - This “classy interactive experience” features:

  • Exhilarating pixel shooter action with virtually endless variations of level designs allowing for new challenges every time you play
  • A wide arsenal of procedurally generated weapons, both melee and ranged, with over 1400 possible creations
  • Battle over a hundred enemies on screen at a time, each with different strategies and fighting styles, along with massive bosses!
  • Beauty from destruction: Everything inside the map is destroyable. Trees crumble, boxes explode into the air and entire 2-story buildings collapse. Corpses, pieces of furniture and rubble are all left behind, and can have special gameplay effects later on!
  • Play with a friend! Asymmetrical local multiplayer: One player plays the inventor, the other plays the robot, each with their own complementary skills.
  • Research new weapon parts to build your custom weapons. Develop and unlock new modules to expand your robot’s combat capabilities or enhance your own.
  • Fast-paced, action-packed gameplay with slick and responsive controls in 60 FPS. Prepare to sweat!
  • Oh, and it’s gamepad compatible, of course!

… and all the yadda-yadda that every other rogue-like has: Random levels, random pickups, all that random generation stuff that you love. Of course, we got that, too!

Mor Spanish devs BTW ;-)

I voted for GNOG as it's the only game I've played this year that is apparently designed for VR even though I just played in standard 2D.

Wish you both nice birthdays Neptonic & Echoes (a belated one) :giggle:

In other news, I finished a game! After what seemed like over half a year, I finally got around starting and finishing a whole game.

Last night, I started SteamWorld Dig. It was among the +100 games I have installed, so it was more like trying out something new quickly.
But I was instantly hooked! Played for about 3 hours in one sitting yesterday, and another 3 hours today, and finished the game. What a nice surprise this game was.

Mainly decided to play it, because I got fed up from replaying Spelunky all the dang time, and since SWD is also set in mines, I picked it.
Obviously, the game is nothing like Spelunky. Instead, we have a very well designed and balanced linear singleplayer campaign which is set in a charming, abandoned robot-wild west town. You play as the new arrival Rusty, the nephew of a missing resident called Joe.

There is an overarching story of you mining deeper and deeper to find out what happened to your uncle, but it's more like a backdrop to the actual gameplay. And how addicting it is. You immediately start entering the mines and all you have at that moment is a weak pickaxe. Digging blocks to carve you a path downwards, while also collecting gems. It's addictive!

With the collected gems, you can upgrade your gear, health or purchase usable items like dynamite, lanterns etc. Early on, your character feels lacking, whether it's the time needed to mine harder blocks or the constant journey back to the surface to unload your small pouch. But after a little while - and a few upgrades - the grind vanishes. Figuratively, since you'll be grinding in the mines for the entire campaign.

The real game changers are new tools you unlock in puzzle-caves. These work as new game mechanics, such as double-jump etc.. Oh man, once you're decked out with all gear, traversal and mining feels so good.

My playthrough took me 6-7 hours, so I definitely recommend SteamWorld Dig to everyone as a fun little game over the weekend.
