Their trello lists a few things, but I'm guessing that he's thinking of offline mode and/or regional pricing. They added a search bar, what's the third?
like someone else said, any publicity is good publicity these days. I would say all the hate has gotten them way more attention than their own marketing and they are definitely profiting from it. Just like #45 does in the US. People like Tim love attention, and hes getting more than hes ever gotten in awhile. He will double down on all efforts to continue to get that attention.
As far as indie devs, yeah they should take the deal. My rent is due this week not in the future. Future trust from strangers means nothing in this economy when people are literally living check to check. I have to side eye anyone hating on indies taking the easy cash, unless you can match it for them and know their current financial situation. If EGS offers any of you cash you better take it, your real friends will be here when its over lol. Its like the WCW days, Vince will be there later in the meantime make that money and actually have a retirement fund (old school wrestling fans will get this lol )
As far as their attitude, welcome to creatives lol. Im not sure where people thought that creatives are nice to everyone, never been the case. Creatives are usually very self centered, and sure maybe some use marketing to filter but you should prefer reality anyway. Go read the countless stories of fans meeting their heroes only to find out they are but human and could care less about them. I think the internet allows for more of that truth to show thru.
Noone I know is like yeah lets starve myself to death and make a game for the fans lol. Nope, its for them, and if they happen to get fans along the way cool but they could care less about you. It about their vision. Thats always been the creative way. They only open up to fans when they need funding, the same way they do to businesses.
Of course they get cocky, they are getting more money deposited in their account than many of them have ever made or will make in a lifetime. That does all sorts of things to brain chemistry. I think a buddy of mine was saying once you start talking millions, most people change, and there are studies around brain chemistry trying to determine that switch. I imagine its even bigger if the person was very poor and it wasnt gradual but instant. I think everyone would like to think they would not change but we have too much data that shows that would be much more a rarity than reality.
As far as wanting companies to be real with you. No you dont lol.
The reality is they dont care about you. They dont care what you think. They dont even care about the people making them money.
Not sure what people are expecting here. Yes they will do whatever benefits them first financially. People are not honest with the public
because history shows thats not what people want to hear. Most people want to hear marketing speak, or corporate kool aid , so thats what everyone is fed.
If you want truth, you will be in the minority, so you cant expect to get that thru means that are meant for the majority.
Thats why "off the record" was invented.
I just wish people would not give Tim so much attention, hes not even as creative as #45, lol.
He hurts himself when he sends out these messages.
Probably pays someone to hurt themselves on his behalf. He hurts himself when he sends out these messages.

Indies can take the Epic deal, they just shouldn’t pretend it’s our moral obligation to support that decision.
In fact this entire trend towards “supporting the creators” is largely inane and farcical. Creators don’t actually care about me, and I have little reason to care about them.
Support the creators! Also, screw Steam, there should be heavier curation!Indies can take the Epic deal, they just shouldn’t pretend it’s our moral obligation to support that decision.

And still we have people who wonder why all this EGS thing is so toxic. This guy is just embarrassing.

yeah, it's all extremely unfortunate![]()
Yep, the day devs Paypal me some money if I'm facing difficulties then I will stan for them.Indies can take the Epic deal, they just shouldn’t pretend it’s our moral obligation to support that decision.

there is hades thread somewher?
I mean, the part of the media that is eating his shit is getting his shit enveloped in money. If Epic cancels or postpone their plans to put influencers in a pedestal in EGS I bet things would start lo look differently regarding how the media reacts to Tim.Sadly, whatever bullshit Tim Sweeney writes is pretty much expected of him. What gets me frustrated is the games media drinking his koolaid, especially parts of the games media that I enjoy watching/listening too.
Sad but true. It's just that I expect better from some people, you know? I don't even mind that if they don't have much knowledge of Steam and Epic and therefore don't address the situation. They should either do some research or just not talk about it at all, rather than spout some nonsense like "It's just another icon".I mean, the part of the media that is eating his shit is getting his shit enveloped in money. E.g. I don't remember if it was a podcast or another E3 video, but I think Easy Allies used the word "petty" regarding the people angry at the whole Shenmue 3 EGS situation. I skip these segments but it's disheartening when some of my favourite outlets who usually don't have the whole sold-out mentality like PC Gamer does, act like this. I suppose it's not surprising because Shenmue 3 is a passionate topic for Easy Allies but I just don't understand the lack of basic research. Is it asking too much? And this is just one example.
This brings the "mega sale" 10€ discount into a new perspective for me. What if Epic isn't able to get rid of those purchased copies, because not enough people are preordering? What if they weren't subsidizing the games because they wanted to try the carrot instead of the stick, for once. What if they were just trying to minimize looses? If you can't move already purchased product, you might need to lower the price to get at least something back?
I don't think they are doing it to minimize losses, they are just trying to get the copies they bought into the hands of actual humans instead of sitting on them. My assumption is that no one was buying the games at their original prices, hence the fire sale.

We assume that Epic is paying for eggsclusivity by preordering a couple of hundred thousand game copies.
The companies get the money up front, epic gets all the sales till a certain number is reached and after t
well it certainly seems very suspicious after their statements on sales just a few months back
Yep, this is how I see it. None of us care for each other, and there's no reason to change that. If the smart thing for them is getting that Epic check, mine is pretending their games don't exist.Indies can take the Epic deal, they just shouldn’t pretend it’s our moral obligation to support that decision.

It's good to see this motherfucker losing it. It's obvious he can't cope with the criticism anymore, so hopefully it will last for many more years (or until EGS dies, whatever happens first).
Exactly this.He does not deserve our valuable time.
I don't get upset with ol' Tim or even think of him much, I've got better things to do with my time. With family life and so many other games to play (PC and console) I've got less time than Epics got exclusives.
I don't much like the EGS for how its trying to bribe decision makers rather than trying to compete on features / pricing / quality of service (which it could easily choose to focus on one of those three areas and exceed Steam, even if 'winning' on all three would be unfeasible) but I don't want to see it crash out and be abandoned GFWL style, because I don't particularly want to see a bunch of peoples money go up in smoke.
Buying a shittier product to own the fanboysI'm with you on that, but I feel some are jumping on EGS in spite of Steam. You can find a few threads elsewhere where it seems this is the case. You can also go and read PC Gamer. I just don't get it.

Really, don't waste your valuable time with him, or getting upset with his crappy tactics.
There are so many worthwhile games to play, and so many developers doing their best to earn your money, why bother getting upset with him, his crappy store, and the "struggling" developers who take their money, and then antagonize and post ridicule comments about their potential customers?
You are just giving them free publicity.

I don't think actual humans that regularly play games on PC buy games on EGS if another option is available. If it's cheaper on EGS or if it's only on EGS? Sure. If it's the same and on Steam or GOG? I honestly think that Epic gets zero sales from such situations.
