  • Any and all credit for this thread goes to the amazing MRORANGE! (who isn't with us just yet, so he couldn't create the thread himself)

Oakwood - Jawmuncher

An upcoming Horror title that features dinosaurs. Use your wits to survive.

Bladed Fury - Andres

A side-scrolling beat-em up featuring beautiful art, Bladed Fury is a Chinese developed indie game. The games combat is similar to titles like Guacamelee with RPG elements such as leveling and taking quest. The games story is rich with Chinese history and mythology.

Just Cause 4 - The Queen

Just cause returns, this time hoping to change all the wrongs with 3. Game has introduced a new weather system which can easily be used to your advantage during firefights. Everything has been dialed up to 10 for bat shit insanity of chaos.

GRIS - Uzzy

Gris, developed by Nomada Studio and published by Devolver Digital, is a 2D Platformer. You play as Gris, a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. Her journey through sorrow is manifested in her dress, which grants new abilities to better navigate her faded reality.

Gris is quite simply one of the most beautiful games I’ve seen for many years. There’s an effortless beauty about it, courtesy of the artist Conrad Roset. It’ visually evocative, a watercolour painting in motion, telling it’s story of personal loss through emotive imagery, colours and music. The platforming itself is relatively simple, focusing more on light puzzle elements then tricky jumps, but it’s the experience you’re here for. And what an experience this promises to be.

Reading about X4's announcement and looking into space sims reminds me of of the day me and my friend tried out the Freelancer demo on his brand spanking new PC.

That was probably the first game I ever saw "cutscenes", really looked like you were in a movie. But since we both were little kids, we had no idea what to do in the game, so all that time we were able to go to space once.

I played Freelancer a little bit later on, and while it certainly has aged few areas, the mouse based ship controlling remains timeless. It's a genius control scheme.

Anyone else played Space Sims?

I've heard that one of the mods for it essentially turns it into a remaster.
There are plenty of mods for the game. The modding community is great, and still active.
A few years ago, I used to play with a friend using some multiplayer mods that greatly increased the content and scope for cooperative multiplayer.

My comment of a remaster was not only regarding improvements, but also easy availability of the game.
As far as I know, the game isn't available digitally. I still have my CDs, but anyone that wants to play the game now, legally, will have a hard time finding the game.

Microsoft is missing out on some easy $. They just need to advertised that the main character is voiced by the main actor of the Sharknado series. :p

Is NMS a space sim? If the answer is no I don't think I've played something from this genre.

I hope Oakwood has more than just raptors and a t-rex.

Fighting EX Layer's netcode sounds like butt and butt stinks. Nevermind, sounds like it was fixed in a patch already.

I also forgot Katamari was coming out so soon. Namco is so random when it comes to when they put up Steam store pages. Sometimes it's nearly half a year early then others it's the day of the release.

Yeah I don't get it either. Wouldn't you want to put up the store page as soon as possible so that as many people as possible can wishlist it and get reminded when release day comes? (And I think I remember frontpage presence on release being influenced by wishlist numbers).
I still remember when the Little Witch Academia game came out and the store page literally only became visible the minute it came out.
(Not even talking about how there was total confusion about the PC version in general at the time, because no store page, no communication and and the game had a preorder bonus on console but no one knew how it worked for PC because you couldn't even preorder, lol. I still don't know how things turned out with that, come to think of it)

It's simple: PC didn't get the pre-order bonus, which was an actual small (shmup) game.

Sigh.
I appreciate Namco porting nearly everything to PC nowadays, and their ports are usually solid (though I can only speak for their a bit higher profile releases), but it looks like they are just dumping their low-budget output without much care...

I've finished Guacamelee.
It's a cool metroidvania, really fun when you get the hang of it and start comboing everything, It gets a little tiresome to backtrack to unlock stuff since there's not enough fast travels options imo but it's a minor nitpick.

Also got stuck at 99% completion because one of the extra challenges is really hard (at least for me, using M+KB).

All in all, recommended and I'm tempted to get the sequel, which is better in every aspect based on what I've read

I'm playing/reading the Pyscho-Pass VN, I'm currently at the end of chapter two and I must say I'm enjoying it quite a lot. From what people said, I expected way worse.

Right, so hoping you chaps can help out....which of these games are 2D Sidescrollers? I just lumped everything together but once I realized how many of them were 2D Sidescrollers I'd neglected to assign a category for it :v

Valfaris LOOKS awesome. I still need to get around to Slain but the reception was pretty lukewarm to it.

And as much as I loved Risk of Rain, I’m not totally sold yet on the 3D. I should have more faith, I guess.

It wouldn't be as bad if Namco actually responded to tweets that ask about their games. I'm not talking about NDA breaking shit, just a "it's still releasing this date." Whoever runs their twitter is shit and only reply to youtube "celebrities" that go along with their memes. At least their german twitter replies to their fans sometimes.

Is anyone playing Hitman 2, and has completed the elusive target?

Any (non-spoiler) tips like:
-is there a time limit (is the target gone after some time, or I can hang around in the map at will, taking my time)?
-how can I retry the map (I know you can retry it, under some conditions, with not being killed being the obvious one)?

I never completed the original game, because my graphics card at the time broke down, so I only did a couple of elusive targets (stupidly failing one, which I tried to clear in a rush), and 4 chapters of the original game.

With the new game, instead of going for the elusive target I took my time to clear all the missions of the main game, and I just played through the Miami map for the first time, in preparation for my elusive target run tomorrow (before time expires).
I did the Miami map in a bit of a rush, so unfortunately I'm going for my elusive target try not as well prepared as I wanted. :(

You can quit the mission and restart as long as you have not completed any objectives or died. So for this ET that means you have not killed the Target as there are no secondary objectives.

Other than that you can quit and start over at almost any time (I forget if it blocks you during combat, it might). So explore, learn patterns, etc. at your leisure. Then once you make the kill or get killed it's sealed in and you need to be ready to escape.

Reviews of Just Cause 4 sounds pretty good. At least the performance issues don't seem to be there and the sandbox has been expanded again but everything else remains similar to the previous games. Bland story, repetitive mission design and fairly dumb AI.

Looking forward to checking it out as it has been a while since I've played with a sandbox like JC!

Thanks. (y)

One last thing: in order to get Silent Assassin, what do I need to avoid? Is it just someone seeing the dead target, or is it something else?

A question regarding Hitman 2, since like I mentioned before, due to technical problems my time with the previous game was limited: how do Escalation Contracts work? Are they time-limited, like elusive targets, or when they add new ones, the previous ones are still available?

And how did the Holiday event/content work on the previous game?

By the way, here are the upcoming content updates for the month of December:

This is the month of GRIS. I can hardly wait for the release of this game. It is seriously the most exciting release of the month for me. Yes, even more exciting than the few porn games releasing on Steam in the next few days/weeks.

Oh, and they've been nominated at the AnnieAwards for Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in a Video Game!
