That would suck for me as a PC Gamer, but it's not enough to make me buy PlayStation hardware. Just another Western dev who makes a very specific type of game that Sony's 1st-party pretty much already has on lockdown.
Yeah, Sony already has plenty of studios working in the same genre, it would be redundant and I don't want to see Remedy turning into Bend and working on someone else's IP for a decade before they would be allowed to make something new.

I hope the end of the archaic exclusivity age will be here sooner than later, MS has already seen the light.

Didn't know Remedy was in such a bad place they're on a verge of selling to Sony. Would be a shitty deal for all gamers outside of Sony's ecosystem, I would prefer them going for a big 3rd party publisher, even friggin Epic, instead of that.

You already got lashman to blind 'like' your post for suggesting something releases on egs.

I am a little confused, but the Darksiders III - Digital Extras dlc is like a season pass where it includes also the content dlc apart from the soundtrack?

Yeah, but this time being on EGS would be preferable to the alternative. Unless, of course, Sweeney is delusional to the point of turning PC into his own console.

Tbh not sure why Sony would acquire any GaaS game studios. They already have a shit ton of them on PS4 releasing yearly and they usually have exclusive content or marketing rights on several of them.

It’d be a waste of money. They obviously find big success in single player cinematic games. First party games from Sony and MS are also higher budget than 95% of 3rd party multiplatform games anyway. Games like God of War and TLOU would not have nearly as high of a budget if they were multiplatform. Unless they had micro transactions shoved up the ass.

Isn't the lead writer of Sunless Sea worked on a new Dragon Age? I'm curious to see the fruits of their labor.

I only want Langrisser if someone makes a mod to add the old art. The new art is...

Urushihara or bust. :heroblob:
Someone mentioned to me that the JP demo on the Nintendo e-shop contains the original art as well. So hopefully they'll get ported too.

The problem with most of Sony's recent output is that once you play one of them, you practically played them all. Stuff like Spider-man, Horizon and GoW certainly look like they have the same open-world trappings with extremely high production values.

Sure we have niche games such as Uta 2/3, Super Robot Wars V/X/T, Grand Kingdom etc. but compared with how diverse their PS2/PS3 library was, their PS4 output is kind of abysmal.

honestly i'm not sure i even want a new Dragon Age ... not from the current-day Bioware ... under current-day EA
Well I poured 80 hours into Apex Legends (surprisingly considering I hate battle royale games because they give me anxiety) without feeling any desire to spend money.

Im still bitter at EA for Mirrors Edge Catalyst, But “current day EA” has its ups and downs. Ill wait for actual gameplay of Dragon Age 4 before I judge it.

No? First off God of War is a bunch of linear areas connected by a general hub. Not really open world, And all 3 games play completely differently.

I really dont understand this weird meme.

Seems weird for Remedy to sell out to Sony when they had such an intricate relationship with Microsoft for such a long time.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

Also lol @ getting your hopes up about a new bioware game :so-good-blob:

Probably gonna try to get a Switch around Christmas if the revision is out... For FE and Animal Crossing. I also hope they make a new Girls' Mode/Style Savvy, but it seems increasingly unlikely... :face-with-cold-sweat:
Animal Crossing is one of those games that i never want to touch, everyone i know who is in it is extremely addicted to it, and i just know I'd become one of those People. :notlikethisblob:

I am rendered utterly unable to comprehend Valve's moderation policies with regards to adult (animu) content:
During JAST USA’s panel at Anime Expo 2019, the publisher announced that the horror visual novel Song of Saya Remastered is set to release sometime this month on PC-via Steam.

The title is basically a completely new game as it’s been re-made from the ground up with a new engine, along with new artwork based on the old artwork. To put it simply, this will be the definitive version of one of the best and craziest visual novels of our time.

For anyone unfaimilar with Saya no Uta, it is a Lovecraftian horror eroge whose main heorine is the titular Saya:

Sony's first-party might not be as homogeneous as some think, but Remedy is literally Naughty Dog with better writing (Lake's prose>>>>>>>>>>>>Druckman's prose, fight me) and better (if less polished) gameplay loop. Too many similar games aren't good for business, people might get tired and you'll ended up with a flop on your hands.

Big disagree. Quantum Break suuuucked. Alan Wake was good though.

TLOU beats out Quantum Break any fucking day of the week

Fair enough. I know I shouldn't put those games in the same basket because of my own negative bias.

IMO, QB has more interesting sci-fi story to tell, but TLoU has better characters. The main flaw of QB is not a story, or gameplay (which I have enjoyed), it's an ambition to mix a game with the show, that hampered storytelling itself.

In any case, MP 1 and 2, and AW are better written than anything ND had ever made.

I mostly agree. I loved the gameplay in Quantum Break but the focusing on the live action aspects hampered it hardcore. It took me less than 5 hours to finish the game for the first time (live action sections not included) Thats crazy short for a $60 game published by one of the big three.

But I didnt like the story at all. Everything it tried to tell other movies, tv shows or games did better. Also it doesnt help that I watched DARK (The netflix series about time travel which is phenomenal btw) like a week before playing QB.

TLOU is not really all that original either (duh, its a zombie apocalypse story how original can you get) but its characters are fantastic and their development is engrossing which kept me heavily invested the entire time.

Also idk about Alan Wake being better than anything ND made. I liked it but it was pretty cheesy. Max Payne is chefs kiss though

Yeah, TLoU has excellent character development, can't argue with that. I'll put the first season of TWD (the game) over it, but not by much. Joel and Elly are really fleshed out characters, and even secondary characters are pretty memorable.

I'll buy Saya no Uta on Steam even if the price isn't reasonable. Nitro+ = :cat-heart-blob:

Gosh I hope you're right! Is the original art like a DLC or something? If it's DLC I'll buy it, but preferably it's just an option toggle in-game...

Oh I like Animal Crossing specifically because it's magical how addicting it can be lol.

SMT V huh... Maybe. On one hand, if I get a Switch I probably will get SMT V. On the other hand, I'm tempted to wait it out for a year just to see if it comes to PC later or if rumors pop up. Now that we kinda get Atlus games on PC... And what with Octopath only being a one-year exclusive...

I've never seen anything kill the pacing of a game as badly as the TV show episodes of Quantum Break.
Microsoft was big on TV early in the life of the Xbox One, I'm sure Don Mattrick loved the idea of a TV show in the game.

Imagine some years ago telling someone that Saya no Uta would come to Steam. Wow.
I feel like I've read this a hundreds times by now, every time about a different game. How things have changed huh.

I don't really agree with the "Sony 1st part is all the same" claim, but I'm just going to go out on a dangerous limb and say homogenizing your corporate media works. The major franchise tentpoles of Disney are increasingly similar in the way they approach action, storytelling, crossovers, "cinematic universes," humor and more. And their method is raking in the dough in disgusting truckloads.

Even if Sony were to actually standardize their studios into pure homogeny, there's little proof that won't actually work, provided they're polished.
Not everything can be as successful as MCU or Live-Action reinterpretations of old Disney cartoons. Yes, Disney lucked out with their properties and with the vision of Feige in particular. But look at their adversaries, Fox wasn't able to built X-Men/F4 shared universe with a varying quality of output, DCEU has some success, but it also has a giant failure in the Justice League, WB's Monster Universe is DoA at the moment, Universal's classic horror universe died with the first installment, Transformers' popularity significantly dropped in a blink of an eye. And all these are 2+ hours long films. How many 15-20 hours long cinematic action-adventures an average gamer would be able to play in a year before getting bored? It can work, but it's still a very big gamble, games like that cost a fortune to make, and if they flop, they flop hard.

Oh, that's intriguing. Especially the separate "Upper" part. The one improvement I want in the Steam controller is to have 2 different grip actions.

Saya no Uta is a fantastic Lovecraftian horror story, but the adult content is utterly gratuitous.
So if the Steam release leaves out the sexually explicit content (as is most likely going to be the case), then it is straight up going to be a better read than the original (IMO) and I would highly recommend giving it a shot.

There were some rumours going around about Valve discontinuing production of Steam Controllers, so it'd be a relief (and a pleasant surprise) if that was due to them working on a new version of that controller.

If there's gonna be new Steam Controller, I just want to replace the left gyro touch controls with a D-Pad, at the very least. I put "click off" to move but it's a pain to relearn all the muscle memory drilled to me when using a Playstation controller to play 2D games.

I understand the sentiment, and I'm by far not a fan of EGS, however, the way I see it, if the studio goes to Epic, their games will remain multiplatform, in my eyes that's a bigger win than stick it to the Tim.

Whew, I'm done with the sale, got Ys Celceta, Trails of Cold Steel II, Dust: An Elysian Tail, all Far Cry games up to Primal, and my Steam profile level from 30 to 42. Also got Ys VIII and Disgaea 5 in a Fanatical sale.

(My brothers gave me a steam gift card last month for my birthday, between that and a couple 5€ discounts from the event, I was able to get more games than I normally would in a sale like this). ^^;

Now... to not have time to play any of them. :D
(Even though I want to play everything).

I am surprised with the support Remedy gets, if you ask me they are in a similar spot with Quantic Dream, so many promises in their games of something really new, never seen before and so on. Alan Wake ended up being a formulaic 3rd person shooter with one of the worst stories I have ever played.

Needless to say that I respect everyone who likes their games. I don't :p

Nah, I really liked Alan Wake, despite its dumb game mechancis. I can't hate on a game that's a love letter to the horror genre, and King especially. Hell, "Stephen King" is like literally the first thing you hear in the intro.

I would hate for them to go exclusive, but fuck it, if it gets me Alan Wake 2, I'd even buy myself a Sony box to play it.

I enjoyed Alan Wake, but not nearly enough that I'd get a platform for it (or, god forbid, use EGS). It's no Nier 3 or anything like that :p

To be fair, it's not in one of my preferred/primary genres, so it's not just about the quality of the game itself.

I want them to have a chance to redeem themselves, goddamn it. Anthem and Andromeda both had crazy development cycles, where the game changed drastically over the course of production. I want to believe that without that, things could have been different.

I know. I'm a dreamer.

seems like this project got abandoned while in EA
Thanks to Early Access, in just a few weeks we managed to complete the work, which would take us several months of closed debugging and testing. Your feedback allowed us to make gameplay faster and smoother, to improve balance and effectiveness of items, and create a new level, that was based on your suggestions. We managed to improve the quality of graphics and performance, but at the same time preserve fast loading speed of locations. And of course, your feedback in the discussions and videos allowed us to identify a number of errors, both in the code and in the text of the game.

Unfortunately, the circumstances are such that at the moment we can't continue our work on Geeksos. Current sales of the game doesn't allow us to maintain the previous rate of updates. Because of this, we decided to postpone the development of Geeksos indefinitely.

We leave with the finished project on our hands, a full-fledged game that is fun to play. Just like with most game projects in the industry, we would like to do a lot more: add new elements, make existing elements bigger and deeper. However, the project is completed, and in the end we are proud of what we achieved.

Today Geeksos already has:
• Fast and challenging gameplay that combines elements of stealth and shooter.
• Diligently build levels, filled with details (and references).
• Variety of hero abilities and upgrades, which makes it possible to complete levels in a different ways.
• Various types of weapons with dozens of improvements for them.
• Cybernetic augmentations that will not only increase your basic parameters, but also open for you new game mechanics: remote hacking, invisibility, silent running or the ability to take out robots with bare fists - these are just a few of them .
• Consumable items, drugs and devices that will increase your tactical abilities: time delayers, adrenaline mixes, portable turrets, several types of mines and grenades (one of which calls the hologram of the dancer to distract your enemies) and many others.
• Several endings in which you not only determine your fate, but also the future of the gaming industry.

Thank you for continuing to support us all this time. We hope that we will be able to return to the Geeksos in one form or another
