Accusing your paying customers to steal your stuff, and therefore not giving them updates (no think about it, what the hell else does he mean with "impossible to support", games aren't developed with DRM, DRM is enabled specifically for deployment, it is in fact easier to support DRM free games, purely from a development standpoint) is a great business tactic.
GOG should praise tinyBuild for treating their customers so well, and having such amazing views on DRM free storefronts.

It may be easy to forget these days, but in July 2009 the industry was still hesitant to embrace digital distribution. Microsoft had just announced the month before that it would start selling full retail Xbox 360 games digitally, and even then it would begin with a selection of older titles. Sony's director of PlayStation Network operations Eric Lempel responded in July by confirming it had no immediate plans to offer PlayStation 3 retail games digitally, citing the size of Blu-ray discs (this in an interview where he was saying that Sony had caught up to Microsoft's online efforts).

Even on the PC, Realtime Worlds head Dave Jones said he wasn't comfortable relying on digital distribution for the company's anticipated massively multiplayer PC game APB, because "it's still a traditional game in that this is a five or six gig game. It has to ship on a DVD."
Steam works wonders for the retail PC market 10 Years Ago This Month: Valve buddies up with GameStop, BioWare talks industry maturity, and the expensive peripheral trend cools off

It really is crazy how far ahead of the curve Valve were. They've totally dropped the ball since, in various ways, but they forged a path ahead of anyone else in the industry.

Regarding the tinyBuild/GOG thing: Honestly, I don't get this at all.
Your game will be pirated, period. Make your peace with that.

Many of the most successful PC games in recent times were completely DRM-free, and didn't purposefully gimp their DRM-free versions!

I can be much more understanding of games by tiny dev teams sometimes having delayed updates -- when you only have 1 or 2 technical people then pushing a build isn't free (nothing is).

I don't hate you... but I hate you

(hope you're having a lot of fun with it!)
Thanks I guess ;)
I had enough fun yesterday for my GPU to crash (probably too hot, I reined back the overclock and now it seems stable)

So I was reading this article

and it turns out that Sea of Solitude releases this Friday (July 5th).

Is it just me or is no one reporting on it? It was my highlight of EA's 2018 E3 conference. Might be a game worth adding to the highlight thread Tizoc (if you still do non-Steam games).

Well, I did post a video that featured it a few days ago:

Here's the video again, which highlights some of the adventure games launching this month:

I've just realized i haven't thrown cash at the Summer Seal this year yet!
I bought FFXIV in the recent SE Sale and i've just picked up that "Sea of Solitude" game from Origin ( wooo, 7 games in my library! ), I've bought a ton of stuff on GOG but nothing on Steam. Yikes! I'm as bad as TS!

Why shame? There's a monthly bundle this friday, why rush to buy stuff in a sale where prices hardly change?

Thing is EA fucked things up this year because they had a really solid EA originals line-up that wasn't shown at the main event but AFTER the event when people moved on to other things and media was busy making other articles, IDK why they didn't gave this a little of time to put the trailer they uploaded to YT.

Free to play now because they lost the multiplayer code.
fascinating story :upside-down-face:
As you know by now, if you're still playing PE, our lobby server had an issue where all the code base got deleted from its server. After trying to fix it for the last month, we've arrived at the unfortunate conclusion that it's a lost cause unless we completely rewrite the code from scratch. We used a software called U-link for PE, and that software is now defunct. Even if we had the original U-link code, we still don't have the configurations and additional code we wrote back in 2013. Under the circumstances, we just don't have the resources to rewrite the multiplayer code for PE. We're truly sorry for this.

How does that even happen... I'm with that guy questioning their promises for the future when their last game went to such shit... We'll see.

Langrisser >>> Fire Emblem.

Also please bring the original art DLC, because the remake art is so bad. I prefer even the mobile version one.

I have both rotting away in my library. What is wrong with me?

I really need to sit my ass down and play them.
Go play Bloodstained!

I finished Bloodstained tonight, and I've written a few big posts in the OT about my problems with the game, but to be more brief here, I will say that metroidvania is probably my favorite genre of games, I replayed SotN way, way too much, I even fell asleep to the soundtrack, I've made an effort to find more games of the genre on Steam, etc. Bloodstained I was hopeful for, but at the end of the day, I can't give it higher than ~6/10. It has a lot of potential and the foundations of being a real successor to SotN, but it has too many flaws and too many poor decisions to get there.

It has way too much RNG, and way too much grind. Those are both incredibly out of place mechanics in that type of game, and even though at first glance it looks like an evolution of SotN item drops, it's a massive step backwards. It totally breaks the flow of balance of the game to a degree that I can't recall in any other metroidvania I've played.
For me it really is the opposite, they made the grind fun finally and luck really matters and is boostable, I mean I'm filling my drop tables just for the hell of it.

This game not only fixed SOTN it fixed all the problems all the other portable Castlevania games had with their drop systems. looking at you card drop with a fixed 1% drop chance with an unfarmable enemy...

I have no duplicate cards anymore. I want a bot that'll trade away cards I don't want to complete specific sets of cards for badges.
What's a good bot? I tried 2 or 3 but they kept declining my offers even though all I want is to trade off other cards I no longer need.

A question for those who play Dead by Daylight.
The game still doesn't have bots, right?

An an horror fan who enjoys most of the licensed franchises featured in the game, I would love to get the game, but I mostly play single-player games. :cautious:
No bots except the teammates you get if you single queue. Playing killer is just about the only single player experience you'll get.

lets just say they are incredibly random about pc
And their output is unproven. The last NISA PC release was "Archeozoic Big Hole" level. So lets just say I am choosing to see receipts before buying their PC offerings.

Most bots only accept 1:1 trades for cards from the same set.

NISA published 5 games on PC after Ys VIII though:
  • Labyrinth of Refrain
  • Assault Spy
  • Disgaea 5
  • Killer7
  • The Caligula Effect
And atm there's 3 announced games coming next year:
  • The Alliance Alive HD
  • Disaster Report 4
  • Langrisser I & II
Their PC support is pretty inconsistent, yeah, but they have been releasing stuff...sometimes...
(Now if only they would bring trails of cold steel 3 and disgaea 4... though I wouldn't be surprised if these two end up happening at a later date, especially since both Ys VIII and Disgaea 5 had to be delayed, maybe they're not confident they would be able to deliver these 2 on console release?)

You know Ys 8 wasn't their "last pc release" right?

it was Caligula Effect Overdose, Which was fantastic on PC.

Alliance Alive was also delayed to 2020 on PC.

Well you can perhaps try Steam Card Exchange exchange your excess card for points to exchange for other cards ( I find it quite troublesome for myself though)

Or you can sell the cards at the steam market?
