Can't log into this forum or Resetera on my phone. It says I need to accept the cookies but even after I do the message still pops up. On Era I'm not even given the option to accept them.

As I recall, you were always in the lead each day during the grand prix. 'Twas supreme effort! :steam_gp_corgi:
Go team Corgi! Yeah I kind of pulled my weight in the event if I do say so myself. Still waiting for my Cyberpunk Gaben

I think this was the craziest sale I've had since my very first one in 2014! Not to mention all the other games I got off Steam too. If I weren't already, I should be set for generations to come now

Continuing on with my adventures in AC IV Black Flag, I ran into a classic Assassin's Creed (and sometimes open-world game) issue.

So, as soon as I got access to the ship in Black Flag, I started traveling around, visiting islands, collecting collectables and taking out forts, pausing the main story for a bit.
Yesterday, I decided to continue on with the story. I was in sequence 4 or 5 I believe, so still very early in the game. After
meeting up with the assassins thanks to Kidd
, I was treated to the tutorial of how to FAST TRAVEL.

Playing on, suddenly a main missions tasks me with taking out a fort, (which explain why that section of the map didn't show a fort earlier).

So, as something that often happens (to me) with Assassin's Creed (and sometimes other open world) games, I've done a lot of the content in the "wrong" order. It's always hard to know when the game "wants" you to go of the main path and explore, and when it wants you to continue with the story.

Tried another browser and it works. Don't wanna go back to chrome though, I need to figure this out.

Maybe it's a hardware issue?
Have you tried troubleshooting the mother-modem, the heart of the hard drive?*

*extremely old obscure Swedish reference 😉
Yeah, I didn't get that one

Yuuuup.
This is my biggest issue with Black Flag. You never know when you can do any of the other side stuff, and various stuff are locked behind main story sequences that when you get to upgrading you'll see a section locked out because you didn't progress further in the game to use it.

Always happens to me as well. At least in Origins and Odyssey you don't get more tutorials later on. There's clearly a tutorial part at the beginning and then you just go around and do things in the order you want. Of course the main and side missions don't really reference each other.

In most open world games I do every side-quest in the area before moving on to the main story. In Odyssey's case I explored every single part of the map before finishing the main mission and starting the DLCs, because I loved exploring the world.
It was not usually a problem, except for 2 side quest-lines
the damn polemarchs and their stupid seals. I killed hundreds of them on both sides before these quests, why could I not collect their seals then?!

Yeah, I didn't get that one

This is from an actual Swedish newspaper, published sometime in 1999.
Translation:
"Andreas Hedlund has gone through all the possible software problems. Now he has determined that the hardware, the Mother-modem, the very heart of the hard-drive, is not working."

Whoever wrote that definitely loved commas. The sentence is weirdly structured even in Swedish.

Reminds me of Homefront: The Revolution. If you decided to do all the side-stuff in the first real zone before continuing with the story, you quickly encounter doors that you can't open, since you haven't received the tool that opens them yet. But there's nothing stopping you from attempting to clear these side missions before you receive the required tool.

Now that is, in my opinion, bad design.

Here's my haul from the sale. Frankly I thought it would be more, but there will probably be another sale before I even start any of these so no big deal.

  • Legend of Grimrock
  • Vaporum
  • Drakensang
  • Drakensang: The River of Time
  • Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove
And I also got One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 from Humble since their price was lower than the Steam sale price.

Blazing Chrome looks hot. Will get to it at some point in the future, For the moment though I'll be getting my Contra fix from... well, the Contra collection! I only played the first NES one back in the day (in fact it was one of the very first games I ever played in my life!) so I have plenty of catching up to do.

Nah. As someone who helped translate a dozen Indies, it is 100% perfectly fine. At the time they were a very small team that had no idea of the success they would have. There's nothing wrong with small Indies using crowdsourced translations.
You're a kinder soul than I am then :p

So they lost the fight against Iron Maiden? Or they didn't have the money to fight it?
pretty sure they just figured it's not worth fighting over this ... even if they won - it probably would've taken years (and LOTS of money) to get there

It sucks that the devs have to change the name because of a name dispute. I think this is the second or third game that had to change the name because of similarities.
One of the games were DieselStormers, had to change to Rogue Stormers. Scrolls was lucky not to change the name. Banner Saga had a dispute with King because of Saga in the name, but they could keep it.

Which other games were not lucky to keep the original name?

Whenever I see Tiny Metal I am wondering when they are going to make Project Phoenix. Should I give up it and forget the money that I have given to the kickstarter?

Fiverr launches new store aimed at game devs

Here's the direct link to the store
i had no idea what that is and understand now after I looked at it a bit but it was funny for a second to see a service called "fiverr" and the first thing you see is "starting at 4.200€"; so more like "fiverrrk".

Got another Humble survey today, pretty clear that they are aiming to up the Monthly price in the coming months.

Dunno how most people would answer to a possible increase in price followed by an increase in the store discount (from the standard 10% to 20% off), but I would go from 'wondering if I should subscribe' to 'not even looking at it'.
