If only you'd stick to a natural gameplay, and not achievement whoring, your opinion on the game might've been more positive.
(Seriously, is there even a Platinum on PS4 that doesn't suck out all joy out of a game?)
Nah, even just sticking to the main plot doesnt make it better.

Lol Can't believe they confirmed Death Stranding PC before the PS4 launch. Are the meltdowns as incredible as I would expect?

Also, isn't 505 that company currently in the process of going under, though? Seems like a weird choice for a publisher. You'd think Kojima is a big enough name to get the interest of one of the bigger ones. Or at the very least self-publish since it'll probably be digital only on PC.

Oh and ffs Destiny 2 Forsaken is already 40% off -_- I really regret buying it two weeks ago now, holy shit. I was thinking of getting Shadowkeep soon but I'd be lying if I said that didn't leave a really sour taste in my mouth...

Are the Sherlock Holmes adventure games good? How does it compare to other detective point and click games? :02notes:
Crimes & Punishment and Devils Daughter are amazing and 100% worth buying.
Really good crime stories with neat twists, good atmosphere and fun investigations.
Those are not traditional point and click adventures games tho, they are closer to something like a good version of L.A Noir.
Don't know about the rest.

Installed Xbox app for Win10, now that I have Game Pass free for a couple months.
Service is neat but man, both the app and xbox website are garbage tier. Crashes, slowdowns etc.

Very pleased with the Death Stranding PC news. I haven't thought anything about the gameplay looked good, but the story seems crazy. Wasn't sure if I wanted to pick it up, especially on my old vanilla PS4 which I only use for PSVR at this point. This will make it trivial for me to pass on the PS4 version, and if the game is actually good I can pick it up and play it at nice quality down the road.

How's LiS 2? Is it worth $24 at the moment? Opinions have been all over the place. I trust you folk.

Loved the first game and BTS.

Cool, thanks. The games are tagged with "Point and Click", so I shouldn't be surprised it's inaccurate. :dana_blanket:

If anyone likes choose-your-own-adventure games, the The Hunter's Journals series, from developer Grindwheel Games (who keeps posting some lovely updates here on Meta; if you missed them, check: |OT| - Grindwheel Games Titles), is now on sale:

And, coming soon:

Thank you for the bump! :) As you can see from the recent reviews the games are good, and I have tried my best to improve on each of them as I move forward. Book 4, Red Ripper is currently in production and has had some serious engine and gameplay tweaks as well. That should be out in 2020 at the current rate.

To complement on my previous post, if anyone enjoyed playing gamebooks like the Fighting Fantasy series (some of them are also available on Steam), and would like to play some news ones, but with a Lovecraft twist, I'm sure you'll enjoy playing The Hunter's Journals.

With great artwork, and well written, they are well worth the small asking price.

Starting today, CS:GO container keys purchased in-game can no longer leave the purchasing account. That is, they cannot be sold on the Steam Community Market or traded. Pre-existing CS:GO container keys are unaffected–those keys can still be sold on the Steam Community Market and traded.

Why make this change? In the past, most key trades we observed were between legitimate customers. However, worldwide fraud networks have recently shifted to using CS:GO keys to liquidate their gains. At this point, nearly all key purchases that end up being traded or sold on the marketplace are believed to be fraud-sourced. As a result we have decided that newly purchased keys will not be tradeable or marketable.

For the vast majority of CS:GO users who buy keys to open containers, nothing changes; keys can still be purchased to open containers in their inventory. They simply can no longer be traded or transacted on the Steam Community Market.

Unfortunately this change will impact some legitimate users, but combating fraud is something we continue to prioritize across Steam and our products.

If you have feedback or concerns about this change feel free to email us at CSGOTeamFeedback [at] valvesoftware.com with the subject “Key Restriction”.

I just saw that the following games have some Halloween content/event:

-Astroneer
-The Blackout Club
-Tower Unite
-Code Vein

For those that play these games, can someone please post some details on how to unlock the Halloween content, or how long does it take to unlock it?
Or when the events end?

I have very limited time this week, which kinda sucks, since I'll probably miss out on a lot of stuff. :(

I played Tower Unite’s update last night. It runs until November 14th.

The lobby is completely transformed for halloween and theres a item shop with exclusive halloween items you unlock with ghoul coins (ghoul coins randomly drop after finishing rounds of minigames, its pretty easy to get enough for every item in the shop if you play the right games). They also added a bunch of new enemy types to Zombie Massacre alongside a new Village map.

There’s also a few new halloween events that happen randomly in the Plaza.

Pretty good update overall and has me really excited for the holiday update in December 👀

Thanks for the info. (y)

I never played the game. If it runs until the 14th, and it's easy to get coins, I'll try to play it next week. ;)

So I've been thinking about it and yeah, if Epic moneyhats Death Stranding that'll be my breaking point. That's one game I can't wait an extra year for. Still not gonna give Epic any money, though. I'll just pirate it. :upside-down-face:

So yeah, great job Swiney. Driving people back to piracy. 👍

And I'm still super confused as to why Sony or KojiPro aren't publishing it themselves...

505 probably offered cheap rates for handling the PC porting job (never you mind about the quality) and offsetting the cost with free money from EGS for a year seems like a no-brainer.
I could be wrong here but I seriously doubt a perfectionist like Kojima would outsource a port. This is a man who could never let his team handle a game without eventually taking it over. The only way a Metal Gear game got made without his input was when he left Konami lol.

I'll be very surprised if the port isn't done in-house at KojiPro.

Death Stranding on PC is nice. MGS V sold over 1 million copies on Steam. I think overall the PC port made at least $20 million USD? bare minimum it made over $10 million USD (that is after Valves cut). What is the most that Epic has given to some of these other devs for their games

Okay so Control cost Epic $10 million USD, so DS will cost more than that? $20 millions USD for just 6 months?

I guess it is going to go to EGS then.

As for that one dev, I wonder if he does PC gaming because he said that Ubisoft games were only sold on Uplay prior to the EGS store (this is incorrect), he also said people didn't have issues with Origin and BFV? People don't like Origin and use it because they are forced and if they could buy on Steam they likely will on top of all that EA owns Origin. It seems that he is somewhat aware of this since he says that they moved because of the 30% cut that Valve takes (which is true) but there is more to it than that? After all didn't Origin come out around the time that EA was trying to buy Valve? After that didn't work out both went their separate ways. EAs main connection to Valve now is Apex since it does use a modified version of the Source Engine.

Any way BFV is Origin exclusive since it's a first party title and people have come to terms with it, which is different from third part titles

EA is still making a lot of money, but it does seem like Valve has grown a lot in Valve since 2012. Depending on where VR goes and how stuff like Underlords do in the long run, Valve might be in a better place?

How will Valve combat subscription services though? People will still keep buying games but subscription services might eat away at people buying say one stuff

Sure, it makes sense. I suppose 505's role would primarily be marketing in this case. Still, it's weird that 505 got the job when there are better publishers out there.
Exactly. They're such a no-name publisher, relatively speaking. Looking at their list of published games on wiki, I see a lot of Japanese titles, though. Maybe they simply had connections that made it easier for them to pounce on this deal.

That still doesn't explain why Sony passed or what they bring to the table for Kojima not to self-publish, though. Maybe a physical release?

Bloodstained, Indivisible and Control are their most visible games to date. People already had some negative impressions about Bloodstained and Indivisible, primarily because of regional pricing (or lack thereof). And of course the EGS thing with Control.

Good point about the physical release. I suppose almost nobody does PC physical these days. It's a kind of small miracle Spike Chunsoft actually did one for AI Somnium Files.

That is strange, marketing wise you don't really need to do a lot of that on PC for Steam (well yes you do), but for big name games all you have to do a lot of the time is just stick a steam logo to a video and boom that is all it takes. This is mostly done by big name companies and even with smaller companies they sort of do the same thing but they do get in touch with their small communities and let them know that the game is coming out.

I am guessing that all of the DS stuff that is currently happening right now is being handled by Sony. Aka the DS world tour. That is very likely one of the last big PR things that they are going to do before the game launches. All of this being paid for by Sony.

I would assume that Sony is also paying to have the game localized in various languages and that all of this will be available for KojiPro.

So where does 505 fit into all of this? I am guessing because money is needed right? But money for what? Marketing? Kojima is all the marketing they need. He can just tweet about it and the media outlets will talk about it. How about distribution cost? Well if KojiPro was to self publish they would just need $100USD to publish on Steam, they would just need some one at KojiPro to be familiar with Steam (maybe this is where 505 fits in?) but then again I would assume that because of Gaben (and the Valve Index...???) that they could get some one from Valve to help them out privately? (Valve would be making over $5 millions USD off this alone)

In EU does 505 do physical releases and stuff like that? Physical is the only thing that I can think of as to why 505 would step in since some other publishers don't even do that (THQ is the only one I know that still does physical PC releases).

I think Kojimas last game on PC was MGS V and some of that might have been handled by Konami, I remember a video of Kojima promoting the PC version with Nvidia (well sort of)

I have no idea about the original source video

Also while they are way smaller? Tri-Ace has been able to self publish on Steam, so Japanese developers have experience with it.

I am guessing that when 505 heard that DS would be coming to PC and tried that Sony would not be publishing that they tried to make a bid for it? Maybe this was after they got $10 millions USD from Epic and knew that they could get even more for DS? They could get KojiPro what every help they need, marketing would be "very cheap" and they could get a very large return relative to the amount of work that they have to put in?

QB is self publishing on EGS right?
