So with Patapon 1 & 2 and Everybody's Golf, does this mean Gravity Rush has a chance?
I'm glad something is happening with these older/more niche PlayStation IPs but fuck me is it not telling that Sony can't be bothered to do them themselves.
To me it confirms that Sony doesn't care a jot about anything pre PS4 beyond bare minimum/low hanging fruit and/or nostalgic lip service that they can throw in ads.

Meanwhile Astro Bot is brilliant and the best first party game they've made in ages imo and seems like we're lucky to have it
I honestly thought Freedom Wars was a one-off thing. Can't believe that Bamco is reviving these old games for Sony. I think this is the best scenarios for these games - they can thrive on other platforms instead of being stuck on PS5 (in the case of Sony doing it themselves) or dead consoles.

Yes, I would like to play Gravity Rush, too. And tons of others.

Except it only applies to digital games. It’s not the best family sharing feature, but let’s not imply they’re putting online activation and account linking on game carts.

The uproar about Xbox was that it turned your game discs into coasters after you’d put it in your console.

The writing is on the wall for physical gaming. Its pretty much on its deathbed barely even making 20% of industry sales this past year iirc.

That part of Xbox Ones uproar is not even relevant anymore.

The fear mongering people did back in 2013 is how MS would control your library. And set rules to how people store/share games etc. (Kinect spying shit too)

And that is whats pretty much happening now. Nintendo is placing these new rules. And in the coming few years this is what console gaming will look like once its all digital. These companies now near full control of your digital libraries and they can just set new rules with a single update.

14 days to share. Needing internet connection to assign/transfer Virtual cards.

These arbitrary rules are random asf.

Everything people complained about back then is already in place today's infrastructure. Now people are at the mercy of these corpos and whatever mood they decide to wake up to every day. Next week Nintendo starts fear mongering piracy and other irrelevant shit..and they along with Sony/MS will squeeze even more control.

It's like you'd prefer to have no family sharing at all for digital games like has been the norm since their inception aeons ago on all platforms because of these "arbitrary" features (of an up and coming system bound to evolve with feedback, though of course it could also evolve to be worse rather than better). All companies that offer similar obviously try to make it so it's not abused and a whole town lives off one account/library, not just for their own games but for the rest publishers they also rely on to keep platforms popular. Even on Steam which is the most advanced in features and services until very recently only one game and account could be played at the same time locking the whole library for everyone else (duping it for the main account with offline mode not available on those you share with as they needed to be online to get access to your library), thankfully it's changed though I've not put it to the test since. You liken these rules to what MS wanted to do which was to treat physical the same as digital. Sharing features are the complete opposite, giving digital back a (very, very tiny bit) of physical flexibility (which they didn't have to do at all when it comes down to it, as again that's been the norm for aeons so complaining the moment they try to do it is silly, over asking for more things like that). None of that makes any sense whatsoever and no, MS weren't ahead of their time, they were out of touch with the market at the time (if not still as depending on the game and system physical is still a good % of users) and got well deserved backlash, enough to reverse their plans for it. Just because I play primarily on PC which would be completely dead thanks to such publishers if it wasn't for the digital market Valve opened up doesn't mean I can't understand the benefits of physical they wanted to take out of the picture, not organically as time goes by and people move to digital for the service and convenience (just as Steam was more convenient than even piracy) and even physical games become more and more like digital (even the ol cd key checks stopped you from sharing) thanks to a reliance on online services & features but to force it early, on their terms, universally.

Anyway, damn, Atomfall is obviously not selling great. The First Berserker: Khazan which could seem like another random anime souls-like at a glance has like 5x the ratings already (both released the same day, with the same earlier access for deluxe editions or whatever). Maybe Nexon is advertising it though, they're pretty big I guess, vs Rebellion. Also I guess it has a bit worse ratings, partially because (just like Obsidian's full scale 3D games I guess) some thought it's a gigantic open world RPG of Fallout/Skyrim scale or something but it's much smaller and can apparently be beat in like <10 hours depending on endings, exploration and stuff. DF's analysis video probably didn't help. I pretty much only agree with them lamenting the lack of good AA options (but it runs so good people with high end PCs can probably easily supersample it at 4K+). They both glossed over things and focused on the negative vs how nice and dense it looks and how it performs. Guess they'll go back to doing Sniper Elite games alone (which isn't so bad either, they're basically solid WW2 Splinter Cells nowadays).

PC is still an open platform for the most part. And companies like Valve/GOG have a history of being pro consumer. (at least)

Can't really say the same about Nintendo.

And in a few years once console gaming goes full on digital...gamers will pretty much not have any control or ownership of their library. These companies will rule with investors sentiment and shareholders value. And they will be at the whim of other publishers who also don't give a shit about consumers or ownership of games. They will do draconian shit at the first sign of any exploit and other unfortunate things that will surely happen.

If gamers kept the same energy today as they did back in 2013...these console platforms would be much more open. If not entirely open. And you wouldn't even need guidelines/rules to share a game with someone.

But they aren't and instead people seem to be okay with corporations constantly redefining words like family, friendship and sharing.

There is no viable data that shows an entire town would leech off one account anyways. Its all ridiculous fear mongering. Especially within a family environment with multiple handhelds. It shouldn't ever be any of Nintendo's business who or how a person shares a game with someone. Growing up as kids inviting each other to play a game together... or watch a movie together....somehow turned everyone into a pirate. Its always been corporate spread bs to maximize profits.

Really have no clue what your point is, reiterating how things have been forever. To me it seemed like you defended MS against unfair response to their forward thinking there, hence me saying what they were doing was the opposite. If that's not what you were doing then I guess I take that back. Like yes, consoles (and most PC storefronts too, hence Steam should continue being successful as long as it shows this vast difference in approach, not that they're not without issues) are closed, restricted, corporate platforms (hence most here are primarily PC gamers, hence the Steam thread being the most active). But introducing sharing is a good thing to support, promote, demand more of. So I don't see how that's the thing to latch on for bonus criticism. It's factually, objectively, universally, an improvement in the right direction when anyone does it. Same as it was for Steam not having it, doing it, slowly improving it. Obviously it doesn't mean any console will become Steam or better yet gog.com or that we'll soon castaway capitalism. Nobody argued that here, I don't think. /2c /done /OT🤷‍♂️

I don't care about Patapon at all, but I'll be there day one for Loco Roco. Also Everybody's Golf without Clap Hanz = don't care. Hopefully Clap Hanz are able to bring Easy Come Easy Golf to Steam eventually. I liked it after updates.

It is spin-off of Dungeon Fighter Online (DFO), which is extremely popular in Asian regions. Since a lot of people are from China on Steam, they are buying it in droves there.

Really sad about Atomfall, original games with creative ideas can't catch a break.

Is there any way to see the Steam Stats (like most played etc) through the Steam client? I can easily find them through the website but for the life of me I can't find the option in the client.

Certainly a factor but Khazan is more than that, the reception i've seen from fans of hard 3rd person action fighters like me (or whatever you want to call those games if you go past "souls-like" and include more action oriented games) is the game stands out because the combat is top tier and it scored some 9s and even 10s from that crowd in reviews. Outside of the DFO IP it doesn't have much else going for it though so i doubt it'll break out like Lies of P did.

Atomfall just seems to have a lot less buzz/hype/marketing than Atomic Heart (or Metro) did, hopefully word of mouth can do something.

Once again, I really meant it when I said it is EXTREMELY popular.

Khazan is a spinoff into console/PC type RPG of one of the characters, and you are right it won't be a breakout because (1) it's fairly standard (2) DFO is not big everywhere else.

Gameplay blends grid-based tactical encounters with a robust branching narrative. A comprehensive flowchart system lets players jump between choices and timelines, uncovering drastically different outcomes. According to the team, one route may take about 20 hours, but that only scratches the surface. Full completion could take 40 hours or more, thanks to the sheer volume of storylines and permutations.
Kodaka has put everything on the line for The Hundred Line. “If it doesn’t sell,” he joked, “I might go bankrupt.” Though exaggerated, the comment reflected real pressure. This is Too Kyo Games’ first fully independent production, and both creators see it as a defining moment for the studio.
The game’s narrative is massive. Kodaka created many of the characters, while Uchikoshi expanded on their stories. The result? A branching script equivalent in volume to three Danganronpa games. “We wrote every kind of story you can imagine—horror, comedy, romance, suspense,” Kodaka said. “Not just one type. Everything.”

I know the whole “our studio’s future rests on this game’s success” is a ploy as old as time itself, but I don’t want to see TooKyo games going bust so I’m gonna pre-purchase The Hundred Line.

Probably should have said "very big factor", i have no doubt it'll have the majority of players in east asia, steam peak during east asian prime time and so on, they just also made a game with really good combat that i see being played a lot in my personal bubble without anybody having any interest in DFO whatsoever.

guess i'm not playing this one day 1 either considering i've yet to start Daybreak 2

and with both this and the Sky remake releasing around the same time it's an easy decision to push playing the remake back between the two of them considering i'm kinda tepid about the idea of remaking a game I already view as timeless and mostly flawless anyways, maybe i'll get around to that one before 2027

Goddamn, out of all the series I'm behind on, Trails wasn't one I ever expected to start releasing games faster than I can play them. I really need to decide whether I wanna do a quick replay of Cold Steel I and II as a refresher before finally tackling CSIII and beyond. :sweaty-blob:

Out now

Didn't know they had more DLC planned so this is a pleasant surprise.

I still can't get thru the base game..I am inable to learn. Should I get any of the DLCs?

Also need to wait cause this game resolution limit makes the game really tiny on my ultrawide.

Dang, Cyan fired ~50% of the (apparently small, 12 were fired) team & seeks funding. Guess the remakes (and previous games) didn't do well despite the praise...

Me and my daughter are making through the Riven remaster. I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been successful. I know this isn't the 90s. I played Myst when it was just 1-2 years old, but never played Riven prior to the remaster...

I'm getting too old for this... what the hell is this inzoi thing and why's everyone buying it? I can't figure out if it's a sims clone or a second live type of mmo.

Did a long feature comparing the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series on RPG Site. This looks at the launch, updates, timeline, lingering issues (yes there still are some annoying ones), and more covering the games on Nintendo Switch OLED, PS4 Pro, PS5, Xbox Series X, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, iPhone, and iPad.

Very nice

Meanwhile...

Expedition 33 is going to be huge.

The only other DLC is Downpour. The rest are music. The DLCs are good to grab but if you don't like or are having trouble with the base game you should just hold off on it.
