Saw this game on JP Nintendo Direct. Published by Bamco. It turns out to be a Japan-only release. Region locked on steam.

Jesus Christ this is 2025. Stop region locking games already. People outside Japan can read Japanese, okay?

It's crazy that a game, in this day and age, is region locked despite not having any controversial external license (example, the original Macross dlc for Macross Shooting Insight, thanks Harmony Gold!)
There are hundreds of japanese or chinese only games on Steam sold worldwide (example: most of Koei's old strategy titles on Steam are JP only, but everyone can still buy them no issue). Let the door open and let the user decide in the end. And you know, fantranslations exist
The fact SRW of all series managed to overcome this issue yet Bamco themselves are region locking another one of their games is insane to me. But hey, if you don't want my money, I'll just spend on the things that are available to me

Speaking of SRW, I started playing V after the Y announcement. I really enjoyed Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (2202 too, haven't watched 2205 yet) so it's great to see that it acts as the backbone of the main story in V.

So, I was thinking about continuing the Ys series at some point this year.
I played through I and II a while back, and at that time I left myself a note to continue the series in Napishtim, Felghana, Origin order. I googled around a bit and it seems to be the release order more or less.
I googled around a bit more and gathered that while there's some overarching lore and story, they are generally very standalone games aside from I and II. And generally people recommend playing in release order rather that chronological order because of gameplay progression reasons.

Now, I think I left that note to myself in 2017, so I'm curious what any of the Ys expert might say about all this in 2025?

I've played Origin and Oath and they're amazing, each in its own way. Other than those I played 7 on PSP, it was a solid game worth checking out but not as epic.

I'm coming up on the end of MH World Iceborne (i think) and wondering when the next time MH Rise Sunbreak might go on sale? The last big sale Capcom missed the MonHun series, but i think it's cuz Wilds had just come out.

I'm not ready for Wilds yet, I'll wait for expac i think. Rise is next for me after World so I am just wondering...

I don't know what you mean but Downpour is good to grab.

Oh just the way you talked it made it seem like you didn't know they released a content DLC with the last couple days or so. My bad!

Does downpour affect the base game itself or is it is own mode? I am not really progressing thru the base game, its been over 40 minutes lol.

It will affect the base game by adding new areas and monsters. If you want a pure experience then you can leave it off but it's not a huge drastic change if you don't turn it off.

I am searching for a specific game. Not one that I am necessarily interested in buying, I am merely annoyed that I cannot remember what the game is called...

It was in a Fanatical bundle a couple of months ago.
What I remember (and take some of it with a grain of salt):

  • Has been a part of a Fanatical bundle at least once.
  • FPS
  • Roguelike (or similar?) "session" based game
  • You played as a cop or agent?
  • Your mission was to raid a skyscraper or tower
  • The tower was filled with criminals (drug cartel?)
  • I thought the name of the game was Narco or Norco but Norco is a totally different game.
  • The game had at most around middling reviews on Steam.

Does anyone have any clue what game this is?

Among the officially translated ones V is my favorite. I'm sure you will enjoy the ride but be warned the story beats can chnge a lot depending on which series plot the story decides to focus (but this is true for all SRW games)

Nice. I haven't watched F91 and read Crossbone so I didn't get some early plots. Looking up the line-up, there are many shows that I don't know, so I plan to just go with the vibe.

Crime Boss: Rockay City?
Don't remember if it was in a bundle yet, but it's like FPS roguelite heist game?

It's probably not that, so can you recall what kind of art style it had?
Low poly, cell shaded, realistic?

They don't want your dirty Gaijin money. Only true Nipponese may enjoy that game

Want to hear y'all thoughts on this.

PC is carrying.

They also had a news post about upcoming updates. The most important things are PC optimization, rebalancing weapons and items and harder content.

There's a framework for a top tier MH in Wilds, but right now there's not much in the way of stuff to actually hunt and what's available is too easy. I, a completely average player, should in no way be doing Tempered Gore Malaga and Tempered Arkveld hunts in sub 8 minutes.
