The top sellers finally updated again. The only noteworthy thing is that Doki Doki Literature Club Plus didn't make the EGS top 25 while it's been hanging out around the top 5 on Steam.

Perhaps they update it every Thursday? last week it happened the same.

Here is some news noone knew about yesterday: Old World officially released out of early access. Yet noone talks about it. Nowhere. Other than a bit on Twitter (devs celebrating it's done). Not even on EGS front page. And a bit on r/oldworldgame and r/4xgaming.

It's definetly one of the most anonymous EGS exclusives.

They already confirmed they will talk about future plans regarding additional platforms "in the next few months" so yeah, also they pretty much released this one before Humankind because they know they won't be able to compete against that one, sad but true.

I hope the developer don't go full asshole mode because I really liked Supraland... but the whole adding Unreal Engine's 5% to inflate the 30% number and the pulling out of gog (that I didn't know about) doesn't help.

Still... he kind of have to tweet something, because how else are people going to know it's available in the store (besides the thread here of course)? Probably not in the store itself :p

And of course, another indie game that was already popular on Steam is once again saved by Epic :)

Pulling Supraland from GoG but releasing it on an additional store is already close to asshole mode. Seriously, how many copies does this guy expect to sell on EGS? I wouldn't be surprised if he just signed a deal with Epic for Supraland 2...

I imagine a lot of developers are going to test the waters with EGS and try to appeal to the "help the devs" audience who want to give the developer a bigger cut.

That's fine because people have a choice to buy games wherever they want and for whatever reason they want to. I don't think releasing on EGS is going to move the needle for many developers, though. 88% of fuck all sales is, well, fuck all.

The tweet before that one is a Steam review to pimp his game with. User reviews are marketing, huh. Maybe keep supporting the platform with such features?

How did this guy get in with an old game like this anyway, without making it a freebie? Surpaland 2 EGS exclusive?

To be honest there is a degree of wishful thinking by my part because I really like the game, but so far I'm reading the gog situation as a fuck up from an almost one man developing team that did a great job with post launch support (and I think that this was around the time of launch of the DLC). However that plus the tweet does not look good indeed. I guess we will see soon enough.

As for Supraland 2, the first one was successful but not a huge hit and probably one of those games that was pushed by the community (in my case it was lashman fault :p ) and reviews. Without that.... it's going to bomb really hard (if it's an exclusive of course).

Epic have opened the floodgates. I think they're padding out their library.

Will be interesting to see since discoverability on the store is bad.

The Supraland dev has talked on and on about the value of the tools Steam provides (demo, reviews), and how worthless the media is at times. I know it looks like the classic Steam shitpost, but it seems to be about every platform.

What's funny is I can't play the DLC because it makes me motion sick :grimacing-face::ripblob:

I'm a +1 for people who bought (and really liked) Supraland because of the community (this one specifically, of course!), and all the Steam reviews, and the (IIRC) excellent dev support for changelogs and whatnot, that I always appreciate greatly.

The dev is undeniably right about the difference between Steam and EGS, but they'll realize soon enough how limited that is.

I haven't played the DLC, and I'm curious of what they might have changed there to trigger your motion sickness. 😮

I'm willing to accept that it's me, but there were a few others who were going through the same thing after picking up the dlc. I have absolutely no idea what changed, since there was a bit of time between the base game and dlc release.

I have played through the whole game and DLC with controller, and I have not experienced any motion sickness:thinking-face:

They added some racing sessions in the DLC which require quick maneuver. Not sure if this is the reason though.

That's his usual position. Mentioning the cut diff between every platform the game is on (Steam/PS4/Xbox/Switch) and this new one isn't as bad as it sounds ¯\(ツ)

Unless I missed something, FIFA 22 isn't coming to EGS. I handwaved Madden and assumed FIFA would release on EGS simply because football is more popular than football. Even though the PC version is based on the last gen version, it still does respectable numbers and constantly has about 25-30k CCU on Steam. EA's strategy with EGS continues to confuse me.

Another week, another time with no top 25 update.
The top 25 finally updated after nearly two(?) weeks.

In terms of multistore releases, Swords of Legends Online is in 17th place whereas it's currently in 4th place on Steam. In terms of exclusives, Chivalry 2 and Old World seem to be doing well, Archageddon is doing fine and Space Punks barely makes the top 25.

They also updated the most played list too. I'm honestly surprised Genshin Impact isn't even in the top 25 most played considering how massive the game is on mobile and Playstation.

Genshin Impact was already on PC, it has its own launcher, releasing on EGS probably did barely anything to its playerbase numbers.

Plus it has been proven several times that Epic's top selling list isn't trustworthy. I know it's the only thing we have, but it barely tells us anything. [UWSL]I mean, Chivalry 2 has been #1 for weeks, while I've seen people on Era and Reddit complaining that they can't find full servers on pc outside peak times. Why waste your time with this?[/UWSL]

Sadly without any sort of public player count, there is no way to determine how well or poorly a game like Chivalry 2 is performing. It's 10th place in their most played charts right now, but that basically says nothing. Just based on a sample of the top played games on EGS last year, a 10th place game had about 160k weekly players. Of course that doesn't account for any possible growth for the platform overall so a 10th place game might be higher (or it might be lower).

As an aside, we are absolutely spoiled by the data Valve gives for Steam. Virtually no other company wants to release player numbers outside of a promotional infograph every once in awhile.

Actually, that would be true if you said top 3 but it has only been #1 last week and this one :cat-heart-blob:

Thanks Valve for spoiling me like this, NOW I'M A DATA NERD :blobclosecry:
