Sad to see Saints Row described as such. I was seriously impressed by the NPCs in SR2 who would get into gang wars and fight the police all on their own while you watched.

i find it kinda funny that jurnous see this "outdated gameplay" thing only in case of certain IP and not in others :shrugblob:
Mechanically from what i saw its basically SR1 but with zoomer cast and tons of bugs.

Ultumatly especially with so many bugs mentioned it whole feels like unmarked early access ... aka the usual with EGS

Saints Row is down to a 3.70 and is currently the worst rated game on EGS. Congratulations?
The fact that such a disappointing and buggy game still gets 3.7 stars out of 5, shows how useless Epic's rating truly is. This is in no way an alternative for the Steam reviews.

The Sonic Frontiers trailer only showed the Steam logo. That would be pretty weird considering Colors was EGS exclusive and Origin came out on both Steam and EGS.

I'm pretty sure Bungie had previously said that they were willing to expand beyond Steam like 2 years ago. Plus they are under Sony now and Sony releases all of their games on both.
D2 has been on the Windows Store for awhile. I'm looking at the EGS backend and it's been there since last November. I'm pretty sure Bungie wants D2 everywhere and will eventually make a cloud version for Switch and other cloud platforms like Amazon Luna.

I got to say I'm glad this was dismissed, the idea of anyone (and especially corporations) being able to copyright short simple movements and sue if someone else uses them is a nightmare scenario.

I had played hundreds of hours of GalCiv 2
But everything going on with that developer soured me on their games.
Same. I loved GalCiv2. Ended up crowdfunding 3 for a bunch and then... never played it. Brad Wardell reminds me that I shouldn't ever bother.

But 4 coming out and then... nothing, isn't super surprising at this point. Blackhole and all.

It looks like Epic have changed the authentication for EGS, breaking Legendary/Heroic launchers in the process. Steam Deck users no longer have access to EGS, which is a wonderful way for Epic to make their customers not want to buy any more games on their store.

Given this is Epic, this could just be them changing something, or them intentionally breaking third party launchers out of spite.

And that's why you don't rely on unofficial third party solutions.

It is guaranteed to break sometime. Guess it will get fixed and break again sometime in future....

It's very likely that Epic did this unintentionally, but either way doesn't paint the company all that well. It's either incompetence or malice and it's pretty annoying.

Let's give them a few weeks and see what happens. Heroic team has worked pretty quickly in the past to restore behavior and, frankly, I think Epic should probably thank heroic for providing a much better user experience than the official windows client even!

As someone who has been running this linux stuff for a long time, I wish we could live in a world where 3rd party clients aren't necessary. However, solutions like Lutris have always been a decent middle ground where they don't outright replace the client but do provide a consistent working environment that's easy to reproduce.

The EGS change hasn’t just broken Heroic/Legendary. It’s also broken the EGS games plugin for Playnite. So Epic have literally just broken a whole bunch of people’s setups on both Windows and Linux across several different apps.

I read over several Steam reviews and most of the complaints seem to be it feels unfinished, the gameplay isn't very deep and the water graphics are poor. Still kind of funny to see such a massive discrepancy.

The Microsoft Store version has one review.

The EGS version of Splitgate was cancelled:

WILL SPLITGATE STILL COME TO THE EPIC GAMES STORE?

We were looking forward to expanding our audience and giving PC players an opportunity to play through the Epic Games Store. However, with our decision to shift focus, we will not be releasing Splitgate on the Epic Games Store.

The game spent a very long time in EA and didn’t really make good use of it. There was no sense this game was culminating to a big 1.0 release and all interest in it evaporated long before they got there.

When there are more games releasing each month than even the big sites can keep up with, something has to give and Ooblets had its day in the sun when it entered Early Access and turned out to be mediocre.

Why would anyone bother going back to a game that they found boring 18 months ago just because the developers stuck 1.0 on it after a long period of radio silence?

To get away with being Early Access on EGS you have to be Hades. This game ain’t that.

On a personal level, while I don’t endorse any of the harassment they got, when the devs made that blithely rude blog post I just thought “fuck those guys” and stuck the game on ignore.

I’ve not seen anything in the intervening time that has endeared me to the game or its developer.

To add to this, they have already said they are focussing on releasing on the already released platforms for the time being. So even if you where interested in the steam release you won't be getting at launch.

All I can say is good luck to them. I have lost any interest in your game I may have had. Which wasn't a great deal to start with admittedly. :shrugblob:

IIRC, there was a document from the Apple trial that said the exclusivity period for Ooblets would be 2 years or one year after 1.0 release, whichever is longer. The Steam version won't come out until next year, if it ever comes out.

Also Epic helped them draft that dumb blog post. Tim Sweeney's "IT WAS AWESOME" tweet was the cherry on top of that train wreck.

Ooblets will just end up in the EGS marketing black hole anyways. I didn't even know it released.
Even if it does poorly on EGS (currently 29th place), it is 6th on the overall Nintendo eShop charts. While there are PC games with similar aesthetics that can do well (i.e. Dinkum), Ooblets seems like a game that would resonate better with the Switch audience.

like yes, but i dont mean the score at all ... i just mean the number of reviews... the drama was ridden for months on pretty much every major site ... and currently out of them only Gamespot dared to do the the review :face-with-tears-of-joy:
The games industry (of which games media is very much an arm a part of) will blow up any minor controversy if it means it can dismiss any and all valid criticism as " the Gamers are at it again". We saw emails from Epic during the Apple trial in which they encouraged the Ooblets devs to keep making fun of people and even helped them write some of the responses. Unfortunately the developers have already served their purpose so none of their then 'allies' in the press care about them anymore.

I truly hope that the whole situation nas been a learning experience for the developers. I harbor no ill will towards them, I think they fell victim to Epic's propaganda and honestly thought that the people protesting Epic's shitty practices were just a handful of GamersTM.
