Uh Oh.

32 of 151 items on my wishlist are on sale, and several that I actually want to .... gasp ... play. And that's before I start reading the "hey, look at this really interesting game that's on sale" posts that will appear all over.

This is not good, Must have self-control....
(adding Ni No Kuni 2 to cart...)
Any interesting games in your backlog? You do have backlog don't you? You post on Neogaf Era Metacouncil, it's almost guaranteed. Buy 1, play an old one? That way the backlog never changes

I lied.

100 hours tonight baybeeeee

Ha! Be careful with MHW. I too said I was about done with it and that was.. oh about 200 hours ago. :p

While I jump in a little less frequently I'm still finding enjoyment with it. And yeah, trying new weapons is a great way to change things up.

I dunno, my life is moving forward in a very positive way, and I loved certain games throughout my life and even during the peak of my depression, so I'm keen to see how I view them in a newer light as well.
Can't believe I missed this post on Saturday. It's great to hear that things are still on a positive track for you! :)

Also if I had to choose between Danganronpa 1-3 or Nonary 1-3, which would you recommend?

If you're also planning on buying them, make sure to buy the bundle(s).
DR has a consistent quality. nonary games is sorta all over the place and some people like 999 more then VLR and vice versa. Last nonary game is controversial so take that what you will, lol.

Nier still only 25% off. I'm never playing that game at this rate.

In Valkyrie Chronicles 4 is scout rushing still the go to strategy or did they fix that? Wasn't a huge fan of the first one but if they fixed that strategy maybe it's worth another go.

A quick count shows I have at least 600+ games on my backlog so I could probably find something on it... but yes, we have to continue buying things to add to it. Otherwise we would start using logic and play all those games before buying new ones, and then the whole "PC gaming is dying" would actually be true :)

Besides, my backlog now is also called "Epic store defense stash", so I should keep it healthy.

Everyone should play Shibuya Scramble, it's one of the best VNs out there. Tama is a treasure, and Minorikawa is incorrigible.

Scout rushing has been replaced with APC rushing.

But seriously, the effectiveness of Scouts has been mitigated with Grenadiers. While on some scenarios it's still a feasible strategy, it's definitely more difficult to do especially on the more harder skirmish levels.

That's okay then. I'll probably pick it up then. theirs broken strategies in every game but it becomes very, very boring when it's the same broken strategy in multiple games.

Oh, there are definitely some exploits in the game you can utilise to farm EXP and DCT. The variety of the level designs are pretty good in terms of making use of the units to their fullest ability. You'll get more use out of lancers and engineers, for example.

Edge of Eternity is really raw at the moment, performance is all over the place just like the graphics, and the writing is bad. Plainly bad. Still, I got 2 hours on it and could see myself going back. And yeah, it's early access, but unless the devs plan on reworking the entire introduction, I think that first impressions will stay.

Also keep in mind that Danganronpa does this weird thing where the story of the first two games is concluded in an anime show while the third game has a new plot.

I hate this. :face-with-cold-sweat:

If I remember right, wasn't there two DR anime and one is a prequel to DR3 while the other wraps up the other two? Do you remember specifically which is which off-hand so I can put them on my list?

If not it's okay.

Woah. That looks sublime.

Does the Steam version have that awful mobile UI like Chrono Trigger used to?

Yes sadly! However if you look over the mods and Steam community forums for pretty much any of the FF games on Steam you can see modders are chipping away at these things slowly but surely.

The Moguri mod I linked before uses a community made mod-tool built for FFIX called Memoria. With Memoria people have been able to edit the CG Art and enhance it and also enable all kinds of engine edits, cheats, and tweak the UI to take up much less space and be less offensive in general.

Definitely check it out if you're interested! (y)

Forgive me, backlog, for I am about to sin.

Looking at my activity feed, seems this applies to literally everyone lol. :p Everyone here is weebs. Don't let Lashman fool you. He's good at hiding it but this is truly a hive of degeneracy!

Anybody here use MSI afterburner for video clips?

Can you make record say last 15 minutes and have audio on multiple tracks (for editing purposes)?

Yeah, but my switchaxe is so fuuuuuun. I miss the early game noobiness of running around the map with people, rather than always knowing where to go and how to play your role perfectly. Some highlights are just scraping by with a rag tag group and putting on our hiding cloaks and bailing the fuck out lol. But as the material grind gets worse, I am thankful haha.

And thank you! Ex is kinda being a problem and theres a lot of shit heading my way, but I'm facing it with my head up.

Yeah, I'll inevitably get both series, and I know both have uh... split opinions on the finales of both? I'm more looking into whichever is less of a letdown haha

Forgive me, backlog, for I am about to sin.

This is an Anime sale, god dammit, use the proper meme.

Backlog-sensei, forgive me... I must go all out, just this once...
Personally i like both but would take DR over ZE if i had to choose, that said, here's the main differentiations.

The characters in Danganronpa aren't real people, they are more like extreme stereotypes, especially in game 2 and 3. The game also doesn't pretend any different, while it might sound negative, it's generally a cool, fun thing.
The same is also true for the overarching story that is zany as hell.

Zero Escape is a lot more grounded on the other hand. Still some stereotypes, but the characters are depicted more like real people than parodies thereof.
The story also is rather grouned (compared to DR that is), but goes a bit off the deep end at times as well.

Narratively, Danganronpa is mostly focusing on a bunch of individual murder mysteries per game (with some really incredible ones ) and an overarching mystery plot that goes places of weirdness in a very fun way.

Zero Time Dilemma on the other hand is much more focused on its overarching (mystery)plot that's a lot about (pseudo-)science, mathematical theorems, etc. very Science-ventury, that plot too can become pretty crazy, but wether or not that's a good thing comes down very much to whom you ask.

Furthermore, Danganronpa also has a lot of humor, some of it fairly dark, where as Zero Escape is much more serious.

Gameplaywise, Danganronpa consists mostly of minigames during trials, with some occasional light adventure game elements during crime scene ivnestigations, closest comparison is Ace Attorney, where as Zero Escape are much more classic puzzle games.

Essentially this boils down to
Crazy vs Grounded
Fun vs Serious
Murder Mysteries vs Science-venture.

Real answer tho, just buy both ez.

I thought I added you to to me quote. Oh well. Thank you for the write up! Danganronpa seems more up my alley at the moment. What are the names of the anime(s) so I can follow up?

Danganronpa 3’s anime has 3 seperate arcs. Future, Despair and Hope. (Hope is only 1 episode though) But tbh they aren’t very good. Despair starts really promising but completely falls apart.

Its not meant to be 2 seperate animes. Its set up so you’re supposed to switch between Despair and Future every episode. The intention is Future 1 > Dispair 1 > Future 2 > Despair 2 > Future 3... etc

Future takes place after 2 and Despair takes place before 1.

Zero Escape has several funny moments too. The "I might get wet" scene in the first game is pure gold, and Sigma trying to flirt with every woman during VLR is hilarious. I love how those games can lighten the mood at times.

Shibuya Scramble is certainly something fun. Got other shit I need to do, though... The work never stops. It won't stop until the day I die.

Say what now? A Golden Week sale? That explains the email that says over ten of the games on my wishlist are for sale. Time to weeb it up.
I don't understand the Golden Week aspect, assume it's a Japanese cultural thing?
Since RE5 and 6 are onsale, I might grab those. Everything else is either too expensive still (Nier I'm looking at you) or waaay to anime. No weeb me.

Per Wikipedia:

Golden Week (ゴールデンウィーク Gōruden Wīku, Gōruden Uīku) (or GW) is a week from the 29th of April to early May containing a number of Japanese holidays.[1]

He's such a good person! All these guys I stabbed while fighting? It was just ketchup. Shooting everyone in a car chase? The bullets and the explosions killed them, not Kiryu ofc.

Still funny how in the canon he never kills anyone.
Also, he is canonically a virgin.

SAO Fatal Bullet tutorial has lasted forever, Jesus Christ.

Yea I tried OBS but the audio was always one track regardless when I told it to to multi. =/
It's been a while since I've screwed around with editing and OBS, but I double checked my old settings and threw together some screenshots that will hopefully help.

1. In settings make sure you're set to Advanced and have set the amount of audio tracks you want.

OBS.png

2.. Right click on the mixer panel and go to Advanced Audio Properties

OBS2.png

3. That should then bring up this window that allows you to set what you want for each track or across multiple tracks.

If not it's okay.

As Ryna said, while they are technically two Animes, they are supposed to be watched in tandem.
The Prequel is also for DR1+2.

Technically DRV3 is a very standalone experience, but it's still recommended to Play the others first because of deliberate callbacks.

Zero Escape has several funny moments too. The "I might get wet" scene in the first game is pure gold, and Sigma trying to flirt with every woman during VLR is hilarious. I love how those games can lighten the mood at times.

You're correct, but i'd say that humor is just something that's occasional present in Zero Escape games, where as Danganronpa has a strong Focus on ist comedic elements for most of ist playtime.

I thought I added you to to me quote. Oh well. Thank you for the write up! Danganronpa seems more up my alley at the moment. What are the names of the anime(s) so I can follow up?

Danganronpa 3: Despair Arc and Danganronpa 3 Hope Arc.
The Danganronpa 1 anime is just an Adaption of the first game and can be safely ignored.

Also, he is canonically a virgin.

Kazuma is too pure.

That is how mine is set up, but in the world the multitrack seems to never work. Channel 2 it higher.

Though after updates, maybe can work.

Ah, sorry. It was the Advanced Audio Properties that always gave me trouble since all those boxes are checked by default so I figured that might be it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that an update solves the problem for you. 🤞
