don't think this was posted yet. these often have new announcements for multiplatform indie titles coming to PC, so one to watch (though the last one was mostly just Switch announcements for titles already announced for or available on PC, IIRC, so keep your expectations down to earth)

Incoming announcement from Annapurna

i actually hate that NieR Steam is getting patched. -_-

I have mine setup EXACTLY how i want it, from the HD textures to FAR (and all the customization in there), to ReShade etc.. Now because Steam doesn't have an option to refuse updates, it's gonna get bulldozed over... for what? Shitty HDR implementation and borderless mode? (which FAR can already do).

Fuck. I wish they'd offer it as a beta branch of something and leave my current version alone.

Exsqueeze me?

So like what ima do is
Sail the high seas for a back up
Install steam ver.
Then overwrite steam ver. With back up ver.
And play the game that way

I finished the Humble Bundle version of Control and I did not encounter any issues. What am I missing?

You can disable auto updates for this game?

AFAIK, Steam does not let you outright disable updates or prevent them. The moment any of us with a good Automata install launch the game after patch, we're fucked.

So i mean... cool, i can turn off auto-updates. I'll also just never be able to play it again exactly how i have it. 🙃

yeah, you can't disable updates ... but afaik - you can download older versions with console commands ... i believe madjoki or JaseC know what those are

also - good to have you back :blobhug:

It used to be a feature, I don't think it's ever coming back. And it's far from full user control either way, since installing from scratch is always the latest version and they aren't ever gonna archive every version of every game and let you download it separately. I'd rather hope the mod gets patched for the new version.

They are certainly archiving every version of every game.
We always tag each publicly released version on the backend so that everyone can select it as a "beta". Of course you can't expect S-E to do something complicated like that :P

well problem here for it to be feature ... is that the game is still infected by Denuvo ... and denuvo servers only activate the uptodate version anyway (iirc the check for version is even part of the antipiracy triggers)

BTW: i am pretty sure the way the mod works it , most of its features will work out of the box (unless the Kaldai-guy pasted some filecheck on it - i remember him doing some weird shit (even blacklist for steamids of people he disagreed on forums) )

Ghostrunner is so satisfying. After finishing the game a while back, I’m now doing the new modes. It’s wicked if you wanna challenge yourself

Yup, gonna continue on it after Im done with VII Remake. I find the gameplay in Ghostrunner quite addictive and fun. Only on chapter 3 and played 3.6 hours. :P Expected it to be a shirt game, but google says 17 chapters.

Playing Disgaea and Ys V, tempted to add Yakuza to bask in the full glory of Japanese game heaven.
Is that a typo, or are you really playing the SNES game currently? I'm playing it right now as well, it's been fan translated a few years ago.
Considering it's the first Ys game without the famous bumb system, it's pretty neat and sophisticated. There's an entire spell system here, and you can combine various elements (from loot you find) to create new spells.
Only issue so far is that it's very easy, especially the boss fights. Maybe Falcom assumed console players wouldn't be able to deal with actually difficult boss fights?

No typo ! :cat-heart-blob:
I would tend to agree with the HG101 article that says that as a game it's good, it was just too much of a departure from classic Ys to be really loved by the fans. And that's without talking about the very real flaws, no difficulty, bosses are plain bad, and the magic system being (invisible !) loot dependent.
But I like it, it's a much welcome change from the bloated games we have nowadays.

Though, to end on a bittersweet note, I'm more and more convinced that the series high point was Felgana and I'm just chasing a lost dragon now. The modern party system being, adequate ? but surely not perfect.

Of the party Ys games, I liked Ys VIII the best. I think Falcom understood the main criticisms people had with Celceta and Ys Seven, and were doing their best to make it faster, give it more manoeuvrability (they added jumping!) and just overall better controls. Looking forward to see what they did with Ys IX.

I agree that the Adol only Ys games were better, specifically the trifecta of Napisthim, Felghana and Origin. I personally like Origin best, just because it allows you to explore some amazing bosses with completely different builds, going from Yunica who fights basically like Adol, to Toal who is a magic user, to Hugo who is basically a super fast melee fighter but with less of a defence.
I still hope Falcom will eventually produce a remake of Ys V in the spirit of Felghana.

I like Origin best as well as a single player game.

The overall best experience is playing Ys VIII in coop though ;)

I don't think I would have survived covid :/
Just pneumonia alone was dangerous for me.

I am in high risk group ( thanks to asthma) and Im before my 30s, and yet Covid was relatively kind to me. I just had a cough for a week and some headaches.
When I was younger I always landed in the hospital when I had pneumonia ( which happened 3 times).

Yeah very fun! If you want to rage play the new modes :ROFLMAO:
