Watching a Vtuber play Gundam Evolution ... and it just looks like Humans dressed up in robot cosplay doing Valorant LARPing.

There's nothing mechanical about the movements at all, it's super fast paced and spammy. I can't really see it as a Gundam game...

Sunday is when we might here something about Kingdom Hearts on Steam, right?
I have doubts... But technically that is the day of the KH Event so... maybe?

Maybe? maybe they just announce them? maybe they release them? maybe they forgot and they won't come? we don't know.
Very exciting! I heard Relayer's story was pretty good.
YUUUUUP!

Hopefully it won't take too long!

I would recommend everyone to temper your expectations IN CASE S-E doesn't announce KH for Steam (yet?)

So, since I have never played a Kingdom Hearts game, what's the appeal? Should I try one out eventually?

Did somebody say Kingdom Hearts

So, since I have never played a Kingdom Hearts game, what's the appeal? Should I try one out eventually?
It's a really simple hack and slash action rpg with 3 characters honestly, at least with the first 2 games, the story for first game is simple disney style/children fairy tale story, and the main draw is SE/Disney characters and fan service, 2 gets weirder and go into some Final Fantasy existential crisis thing their writers love so much but it's alright if you like that kind of stuff. Heard the games after get too weird but I haven't played them and can't comment.

It's genuinly good ARPG combat systems embedded into a JRPG ass story taking place in classic Disney Worlds that has Mickey Mouse getting chokeslammed by a guy who never grew out of his emo phase.

Also, the franchise has fantastic music and every game has very different gameplay systems outside of the combat, like KH2 has Shmup gameplay, Birth By Sleep has a Monopoly based Level up system, Chain of Memories is a card based Roguelite etc.

I can't stand the KH games.

Put a good amount of hours into ME Andromeda now and despite the flaws it has a lot going for it. When you're exploring the planets it feels like the vision they had for ME1 has finally been realized. The combat is pretty good and it still holds up visually.

You know how nice it is to get your life and time back from work? It’s amazing.

I started a new job last November and it’s been amazing work, and I’m really enjoying it, but I was in wave 1 of a multi-million pound recruitment drive to bring lots of new talent into our department.

That meant that the work for me has been insane. Non-stop pretty much. However, new starts are now trickling in, more interviews are happening and I was due to juggle two products this week as I transitioned between starting one and finishing the other, but one of the new starts has taken my new project off me and now my calendar is… looking rather empty for the next week or two.

I’ve had my string of bad jobs, so it’s nice when an employer says they are throwing money at the problem and promise the work will let up so we can take time for learning, development and mentoring, and then actually stick to that promise within the promised timescales.

I haven’t felt this relaxed in at least a year, when I was being paid a lot less (and as such didn’t have to give a shit). Feels good.

Kristy Swanson's Buffy, is that you?

Seriously considering getting the Master Chief collection....
I haven't played a Halo game since Halo 2 on the original XBOX, and before that, Halo: Combat Evolved on PC...
It's a good set of ports, but the games didn't really impress me as a long time PC shooter fan when I played the MCC last year. Level and encounter design copy and pasted endlessly across the 4 main games.

For all the shitty stuff that SQEX pulled, I applaud them for greenlighting so many strategy games in recent years. Triangle Strategy, DioField Chronicle, Front Mission remakes, the trademarked Tactics Ogre and the rumored Final Fantast Tactics remake. Strategy fans are going to have a treat!

Got interested in continuing Returnal again afting winning BAFTA goty. I died 2 times and then stopped. I just can't bring myself to invest a lot of time into the game (it is a difficulty game that will take a lot of time to finish) when it can be announced for PC at any time. Same goes for Demon's Souls.

Yep. Not surprised. I'm sure modders will tear into it and fix it up but gotta give some time. I'll probably wait a few months.

Been playing some Triangle strategy in the meantime. Good tactics game so far. Only on Chapter 4, but lol looks like there's a lot to do if you want to.

That fact is that with Square is always a roll of dice.
Chrono Trigger sucked and they fixed it without community help, Pixel Remasters are pretty good, FF7R sucks. Nier Replicant was ok, Automata sucked.
I just wonder if they'll try to improve it

I'm sure ill be the only one with this opinion but the first game was more annoying than fun and the second one looks like it's just more of the exact same but with a 2 on the end for Rogue Legacy 2

Their upgrade system just felt stupid to me because if you went the "wrong" direction stuff that was actually good was horrendously expensive and required you to get massive amounts of gold

Maybe I played it wrong? Lol I don't know I like roguelikes and roguelites but there's so many better options comparatively at the time to the original and even now the sequel has to compete against the new stuff that's out
There are dozens if us.

I've tried to get into Rogue Legacy at least 3 times, so many people like it that I just had to try again and again. Always after the first boss I just think... Nah, I'm good.

Well, in fairness to Sega, they didnt have much choice in the matter. Johnny's (Takuya Kimura's talent agency) was responsible for vetoing the PC version, to avoid besmirching his image (yknow, nude mods and shit). Since Luna and Stadia are cloud based, theres no risk of that. :smart-thinking-blob:
They should have ported it to Switch via Cloud or something.
So, since I have never played a Kingdom Hearts game, what's the appeal? Should I try one out eventually?
I played a bit of 1 HD some time ago and it was 'fine'. Definitely something that would feel very special back in 2002, but with nowadays with the IP orgy bonanza that permeates gaming, not so much.

I played a little bit of the first KH game on PS4 and the performance was very uneven/clunky. I didn't like it at all tho I don't know if its just PS2 jank or if it was poorly optimized. Hard to tell and I didn't play it long enough/never returned.

From what I read the PC versions of all the games have unlocked framerate so that should be an improvement over the console feel.

What's their incentive to do a good job? People keep buying their stuff in droves no matter just how busted the product is or how little consideration they have for their customers. Even after countless busted ports, shitty monetization practices, price hikes, exclusivity deals and overall bad behaviour towards the general gaming audience, they get a fat wallet in the end.
They treat people like trash because people let themselves be treated like trash, and in a way, because of this fact, people deserve to be treated like trash. But in the end all is forgiven because in a couple of months they'll show a shinny new trailler for whatever new rehash of an old game they made 20 years ago and people will lose their collective minds once again. It's the SE cycle.

I wouldn't say Square games sell in droves, on PC at least.

They've squandered all their best opportunities to actually make their brand a household name on PC, and they just keep putting in the lowest effort possible in most projects.

There are some exceptions of course. FF14 is one, and even then they had to literally remake the game because of the reception of original version.
But really in general, it's kind of pathetic how small the mainline FF games are on PC still, FF7R could have had a shot, if they hadn't first done a long Sony exclusive and then top that with EGS. Plus the port could have worked better too.

Pathetic.
