Jupiter Hell

Jupiter Hell is a classic, turn-based roguelike set in a 90's flavored sci-fi universe. Set on the moons of Jupiter, the game pits a lone space marine against overwhelming demonic forces. Rip and tear zombies, demons and unmentionable monstrosities, using classic weaponry such as shotguns, chainguns, railguns and the trusty chainsaw. All to the shine of CRT monitors and the tune of heavy metal!

Benefit from classic roguelike turns with modern shooter sensibilities. Controls are immediate and accessible while retaining the back-end depth of a turn-based RPG.

Customize your character with new weapons, items and abilities gained as you progress through a permadeath-prone hell. Beat the game to unlock more difficult challenges rather than grinding to make the game easier.

Blast through procedurally-generated civilian sectors, military space bases and mining colonies on the violent moons of Jupiter. Every playthrough you’ll find new ways to experience familiar settings.

Jupiter Hell is built by ChaosForge, the team that’s been making top-down, cosmic hell roguelikes since 2002.

The Church in the Darkness

No one is forced to join a cult. It welcomes you. It understands you. It envelops you until the words become more than truth—they make you whole.

In the late 1970s, the charismatic Isaac and Rebecca Walker lead the Collective Justice Mission. Labeled radicals and feeling persecuted by the US government, they relocate their followers to the one place they believe they can create a socialist utopia: the jungles of South America. There they build Freedom Town. But relatives left behind in the US become worried: what exactly is going on at this compound in the jungle?

You play as Vic, an ex-law enforcement officer who has snuck into Freedom Town to check on their nephew, Alex. Whether you choose stealth or violence, you must infiltrate the commune, find out what’s going on within, and locate your nephew, before it’s too late.

The dynamic story of The Church in the Darkness changes every time you play. It's up to you to explore Freedom Town, figure out the shifting personalities and motivations of the cult leaders, and decide what to do.

The Dig

An asteroid the size of a small moon is on a crash course toward Earth, and only NASA veteran Boston Low has the expertise to stop it. Along for the ride are award-winning journalist Maggie Robbins and internationally renowned geologist Ludger Brink.

Once the wayward asteroid is nuked into a safe orbit, the trio conducts a routine examination of the rocky surface.

What they uncover is anything but routine.

Low, Brink and Robbins unwittingly trigger a mechanism that transforms the asteroid into a crystal-like spacecraft. The team is hurtled across the galaxy to a planet so desolate, Brink is moved to name it Cocytus, after the 9th circle of Hell in Dante’s inferno. The bleak landscape was obviously once home to a highly evolved civilization, with remnants of sophisticated architecture, advanced technology and an intricate network of underground tunnels.

But no Cocytans.

Who were the original inhabitants of this once rich empire-turned-wasteland? What are those apparitions that mysteriously appear from time to time? Why have Low, Robbins, and Brink been brought to this place? And how can Low keep his team from unraveling in the face of such uncertainty? To return to Earth, they must dig for answers, both on the planet’s surface and deep within themselves.

From the combined talents of LucasArts and legendary Steven Spielberg comes an epic adventure that plunges headlong into the very core of the unknown. And takes you with it.

The best thing about August is that once its over we will finally get to the best month of the year. The second best thing is that there's Gamescom at the end of the month.

Speaking of Nier, I'm making a backup of my PS3 copy as we speak to replay it in sweet, sweet 1440p/60 on my PC. Can't wait!

Last year around this time I was planning my very first solo, and international, vacation. This year I've used up most of my PTO already trying to just keep my job... I was excited to finally start having a grasp of traveling and feels like it's not in the cards even twice in a row :p

At least I've got vidya games, with the occasional fan service splashed in, to keep my spirits up. I actually don't see a ton for me this month (rare) so I will continue to chip away at that backlog! Except I also bought the CKII bundle so that's a lie.

Looking forward to Re:legend ea. The alpha did leave me a little disappointed, so I hope they improved it.

I dont want to pay 45€ for Oninaki, but I enjoyed the demo so I am still conflicted on it.

When is Greedfall coming out again, September?

Wow, RPCS3 really makes adding games simple from a CFW PS3. Just add the ./GAMES directory to RPCS3 and it just... finds all of them, like that.
daaayum, nice

now if only it didn't require a monster rig to run anything (and would run games without major glitches)

guess we'll have to wait a few more years for that :(

If by monster rig, you mean "I was running it on my 6700HQ laptop a few years ago", then sure.

RPCS3 has come a long way - you'd be surprised.

As always, great thread, and curse you for making it harder to save money :p

I was going to say the classic "new thread smell" but since people were talking about back pain in the other one (and I was just reading and nodding), I think is more appropriate to say:

New thread, same old people smell.

Way too much this month. I still need to pickup Fire Emblem and now Crystar, Oninaki, Peach Ball and Astral Chain. My wife is going to kill me. Add all that plus September's releases and I, along with my wallet, are dead men walking.

I'm probably not the best person to vouch for it since my rig is somewhat decent (someone should bump that PC benchmarking OT), but as long as you're not greedy with the internal resolution scaling, the latest build of RPCS3 is actually pretty well optimized, especially if you have an NV GPU.

I'd even say it's still better optimised than Citra, while not quite at PPSSPP level, for example.

Wait, Supaplex ? Holy crap...

For years we called our Amiga 500 the "pooplet" because that's what my little brother heard whenever I'd ask my father whether we could play Supaplex (supaplex... pooplet... it sort of makes sense if you read it with an Italian accent).

Well, I've played THPS Project 8 to completion with barely any glitch (and mine definitely isn't a monster rig!). THPS proving ground is also very playable!

Actually, with the Vulkan render AMD GPUs are perfectly capable as well. I'm using an OC'd Vega 56 @ 1440p and it's not breaking a sweat.

Japanese companies and not knowing how the Internet works, name a more iconic duo.
I wish more of them modernized and started to offer better legal solutions to reading manga, because the current structure that manga publications are using may work in Japan but they don't really work for the rest of the world. I do like what Shueisha is doing since that is a big step in the right direction. They blame pirates when the issue is that their business model has not really adapted well to modern times, their business model is a lot better than the American comic book model at least (as far as I am aware). For those that are not aware Shueisha now offers a way for you to read their manga for free (ad supported) and also has a subscription service on top of that, want to read the lastest manga from Japan when it releases in Japan? Then pay a monthly fee and read those series other wise wait a month and read them for free. Which is better than having to wait months to buy the official English release. Maybe I am very wrong and some one that is much better versed in the manga industry can correct me. The business model of being able to read manga for free and paying to see the newest chapters is popular in Korea with webtoons and that business model has not collapsed (all though in that case you have to buy per chapter).

More importantly is there a thread on MC that focuses on manga? or is it mainly anime?
