So far the lesser evil of clients is battlenet. Cause you can shut it down completely after launching stuff.
Steam is going for pushing ads, social network to spin your money in a meta game no one has seen before - stuff is worse than loot boxes. All that dress up your profile shit, same as fortnite or dead or alive fashion etc. All the convenient stuff to play in 1 click is gone.
Well downloading actually works like it should, wow nice feature in the year 2021 lol.

Also the leader on pc market allows: keyboard and mouse not supported so I should covert on the fly press A into actually pressing F.

You can only choose one.
It seems that I will be forced to pick this up because it has Japanese support, whereas the NISA version does not.
I would be interested in knowing how the script files are stored in the archive. Maybe there will be a way to mod them back in for the official English release.

Frankly, the licensing agreement is a dog's breakfast. All Kiseki games in the past have Japanese scripts. Perhaps CLE bid higher than NISA for the licensing fees?

Yeah, Falcom is so bad at licensing. I know they are small scale but geez can they have continuity on their agreement? In addition, people in the steam discussion forum are saying that the CLE port is complete barebone without any options other than anti-aliasing. Not even Turbo mode. :disappointed-face:

I'm a bit curious myself so I jumped on Steam Community to check out some impressions. Had a good chuckle at some user complaining about the lack of Ultrawide monitor support (CS I-IV all have UW support). :flare_utawaku:

Marvel XCOM looks good.

There was nothing else that seemed too interesting. Maybe more Gamescom announcements will come during the show? Prolly not.

Can't say I agree personally, and we all know this is the main general thread on this site, non-Steam chat has never been discouraged whether it be game pass or gog or anime or whatever. And besides it's clear that Wok uses Steam; it's weird to now seemingly justify purchasing/playing habits.
But I've said my bit on this, I'm not saying more.
I did not say that anything is or should be discouraged. I am saying it was a rather strong reaction to a rather tame question about using Steam in the Steam thread.

The least evil client right now is that command line interface to download Epic games without them being groped by Tim Sweeney's fingies, the term he 100% uses when referring to his mange-ridden jackal paws.
Any more info on that? First I'm hearing about this.

Sorry I haven't kept up with the latest Saints Row news, but is this the game that was rumoured to have very destructible environments? or was that just a fan hope from red faction Guerrilla.

Since when saying that you don't like something started being considered as toxic behaviour? Since when you are not allowed to "judge" games based on marketing material that publisher/developer releases? I am noticing more and more situations where people are getting called out as cybabies or toxic for not liking games based on what publisher/developer provides. It's almost always situation where you will constantly see comments "wait to se more", "wait to see gameplay", "wait for reviews", "wait until you play it"...

If marketing material is released you judge game based on that, it doesn’t matter if you hype it to oblivion or saying that you don't like it.

“Real fans don’t wait for reviews!!!” I read this in a No More Heroes 3 topic the other day. Not here. Stupid.

Worthless anyway. Skyward Sword is like 90-something on Opencritic and that game is bad in so many ways.

I think people might feel it is toxic because getting comment of people not liking it, it is a negative comment. Not saying negative comments shouldn't be allowed, and criticism should be encouraged but just getting comments like "looks stupid I don't like it" is toxic. Not saying you say that of course, just why some might take any negative comment like that.

I mean that is valid opinion. You don't need to write detailed essays every time you like or not like something. As long as you are clear that you don't like it and that it looks stupid to you I don't see any issues. If you go around and push that opinion down the other people's throat that is toxic behavior. And in many cases those who respond to comments like "i don't like it, it looks stupid to me" are the ones who are trying to change your opinion and tell you that you are wrong.

Yes it is a valid opinion, what I am saying is that if someone doesn't like it then why even bother discussing it. That is where someone might take it as toxic, that someone who doesn't even like something feels the need to come into the discussion just to point out how much they don't like it.

Its like if we had a thread about Coffee and people were discussing how much they love coffee and how they brew it and about different beans, someone comes in and just say "I don't like coffee, bleh, I like tea so much better", something like that just zaps the energy out of the room.

I don't see what the difference is between talking about

using Gamepass because of reasons
and not using Gamepass because of reasons.

using Steam because of reasons
and not using Steam because of reasons.

If one praises something, they also have to manage other people seeing it different. And the same the other way round.

Kyougar I'm just trying to say why some would find something toxic. I usually don't mind people talking about not liking something. Except...
and not using Steam because of reasons.
Getting comments like that in this thread I would take as little toxic. At some point its like why even be in the thread? Thats why we have two egs threads, one for shitting on it and one for people to talk about the free games and such without the toxicity.

I am a little late to the discussion and just skimmed what was wirtten so far, you guys talk a lot..., but wouldn't this be "solved" using the same method when there were complaints about console talk in here? Back then we created a console OT and the console talk in here mostly stopped, so perhaps now it could be worth it to create a streaming/subscriptions OT.
Anyway just my 2cents, it doesn't bother that much personally or at least as much as the unending talk about some possible pc port of a random 20 year old japanese console game while there are, at least, 3 new games worth checking releasing every day that get no attention at all (thanks lashman and prudis, and everyone that does it, for all the work you have linking the steam pages in another thread and setting threads for each game).

As for "gatekeeping":

Shitting on shit service is NOT Gatekeeping.
Pointing to the openness of PC Gaming is not the gotcha one thinks it is.
Just because you are going to an Open Day event, doesn't mean you can just shit on the carpet.

There are certain expectations.
There are forces that want to circumvent the openness while they are enabled to do that BECAUSE of the openness.
And there are counterforces who defend this openness by all means.
If that means that certain things have to be said, have to be pointed out, have to be barred, so be it.

CONSTANT VIGILIANCE!
Or we will lose the open PC market because we let the fox into the hen house.

Le Pertti I am with you, but it is not something I lose sleep over. We are Steam focused, but this thread is also a general chat thread.
I would only draw a line when the only thing the poster does is shitting on Steam though.

I'm trying to leave this mediocrity cake in the past, but, if your comment was at least partly inspired by one of my posts, let me add something.
For the record, and despite what my comments may have suggested, I don't really care about Game Pass. I'm not using Game Pass that much, I'm not always subbed, and yes, there are many aspects of this that can be worrying or debated.

What drives me up the wall are posts after posts with very little substance, boop beep rightly called them low efforts, trying to hammer a point that has been made weeks ago. It's repetitive, it's juvenile, it brings nothing to the table. Myst doesn't support VR, Game Pass stays winning ! What are you ? Ten years old ?
The true Steam Gamer thing, I may find even more distasteful, if that is even possible. Should I screenshot my Steam backlog ? Will that allow me to post here ? Maybe there should be a maximum length for the last purchase on Steam, a point when you are not allowed here anymore ?

I will genuinely try to not engage on this topic anymore, like I said, it was yesterday pile of shit. I just wanted to flesh out my POV on it.

:blobhug:
I would have quoted you if I was trying to call out someone specific.

It was a general point about the argument that openness of the PC platform should mean that we should welcome anyone with all their flaws or the will and the means to change this openness.

If not for fighting against certain Platforms or services, the PC environment would be totally different today and not what we want.

It's been going on for a while now. The industry only wants blind positivity and rejects anything even remotely negative as toxic. Two people watch the same trailer. One goes "this is great, I am preordering!" and the other goes "this is shit, I will pass on it". The first person is a 'true fan' and the second is 'toxic'.
