Reading the ERA thread about Myst and other games missing features on PC game pass simply makes me think that devs don't really care about the PC game pass version because in compared to Steam it doesn't affect their bottom line. They got a bag of cash and that's it. On Steam there are also multiple ways people and communicate something is wrong with the Steam version, but not on PC game pass.

I still believe its f ake videogame that doesn't actually exist
I'm not 100% sure neither BUT both Nvidia and Microsoft gave them a platform so that makes me think that, at the very least, those two companies checked if the product exists or not, so I'm hopeful that this is the case.

I understand the importance of dual trackpads, but this is my preferred design:

Apologies for the bad paint job :sorryblob:
Apologies for butchering people's favorite controller :sorryblob: :sorryblob: :sorryblob:
I think it would be very close to what we have seen in the Deck, just the left and right parts of it. So both two analog sticks, as well as two smaller trackpads, plus dpad and face buttons. Would probably be overall bigger than the old Steam Controller.

Not the same thing, Abandoned team payed Playstation team to publish a blog and a few other things, it's not even the same as using Atomic Heart as one of your E3 announcements and to be honest, MS and Playstation ways of promoting games are completely different.

Regarding the Giveaway business. I used Humble gift links (for getting Steam keys) instead of Steam keys. I hope this is okay for the Giveaway bot? :face-with-cold-sweat:
i don't think it matters ... it's just what people will get in PMs if they win

Valdien has conveniently added the option of Humble gift link as one of the options when creating the giveaway. I've used it a few times myself.

Although, on the off chance that you're giving away GOG or (heavens forbid) EGS keys, it would be appreciated if you say so in the description since most people will assume you're giving away Steam keys.

Yesterday I bought Myst, in large part because I wanted to try DLSS in VR. I was very disappointed that the option just didn't show up. Then I remembered its occasional driver dependence and updated my drivers, and sure enough there it was.
So just a heads-up, if you ever see the DLSS option missing in a game do make sure that your driver is up to date.

Anyway, the result is pretty impressive. "Quality" DLSS is significantly sharper (and I mean that as in actually resolving more detail, not just sharpened) than native res + TAA, with only very slightly more artifacting. Native res with no TAA is of course sharper still, but completely unplayable i nterms of temporal stability (or lack thereof).

Depends on what part needed figuring? If you mean how to get the skill to swim, it sucked and I don't remember if I got lucky or looked it up.
I had to look up that part last night. Seriously, that's some ridiculous BS game design. 😟

I don't think that's the case. Game Pass is very flexible when it comes to agreement between Microsoft and developer. Depending on the contract, devs can get money from different variables, like for example getting all the money upfront like you mentioned or depending from the number of downloads. If that was the case it would be in devs best interest to release the game in as polished state as possible.

Yeah I believe the devs care about the product they put out, I imagine it has something more to do with certification that needs to be done compared to steam , time, dx12 issues. And as you said every game has a different contract with Gamepass to suit their needs.

I'd assume it's because the packaging is cumbersome.
Just put normal Win32 exes on there already MS.

Hasn’t it been announced for the ‘new’ store ?
Honestly lost in what is expected or not for this.

Yes remove keys, gifting, regional pricing...
Another day, another proof that PCGamer is useless.

Want to stop those alt stores all together? only give keys to authorized stores, do not give them to streamers nor influencers nor anyone, do they want to play the game for reviewing? use the internal Steam system to give them access to their accounts without keys.

But yeah, removing Steam keys? that would kill not only shady places but also legit places too. WAY TO GO, PCGAMER

Yeah ! Booting the PC and wondering where my image went before figuring out it's on the TV, SOMEHOW.
Then launching a game, wondering why it's mute, and seeing the output is on the monitor speakers, SOMEHOW.
Some days, Windows is really the same old Windows.

It's a very old article but it had some interesting points I always felt it could have been part of the solution for grey market sites.

Modern PC GAMER is a fucking joke and any credibility it has had in the pc gaming scene is long gone. Time and again it shows itself as clueless to the nuances of the market it claims to stand for (unless I am misremembering something badly I’m certain there was an example of an editor who didn’t know how to use pcgamingwiki and was surprised that EGS didn’t use cloud saves long after this was a known fact)

It’s held on only by the power of the brand from the days when it used to mean something

I finished Psychonauts 2. Not only do I think it is currently my pick for GOTY, I think it is the best 3D platformer I've played since Super Mario Odyssey. After playing the original game a few months ago and absolutely hating the gameplay, my expectations were pretty low, but Double Fine more than exceeded them and created one of the best controlling platformers in recent history with some great level design and beautiful visuals. The story was also very good and kept me engaged throughout its entirety. It doesn't have awe inspiring setpieces like the latest Ratchet and Clank title, but it made up with it with better gameplay and more likable characters. I'll stop gushing now and just suggest everyone play the game if possible.

Article itself explains how Steam getting rid of keys would cause a big fallout and isn't likely to happen, and also ends with a paragraph explaining how due to streaming or renting models (gamepass, stadia, etc.) all this worrying about keys might not even be super important in the future. Overall a pretty balanced piece.
It's just the headline that's very attention grabbing, as per usual.

Yeah Psychonauts 2 is incredible so far, much bigger in scope than I thought it would be, and very polished so far. Every level or area is just so well designed and creative. I also seem to be lucky with the Gamepass version again, as I have had no stuttering since changing to fullscreen as weird of a fix as that seems.

(Also our guest number is up, has there been drama or a leak here that I have missed again).

I watch this and wonder to myself, "What results will "japanese pc games stores" get me, as some one who knows nothing of the pc gaming presence there". I regret my decision. Hentai, hentai everywhere.. What's an uncultured white guy gotta do to find the indie scene in japan? Iran is easier to search for...
Hentai has basically been the Japanese PC market for a while now. There use to be other games that would release on PC but that stopped after the PS1 era from what I remember, there was still those doujin games like Touhou that were being made but nothing else than that. It has changed again and there is now more indie games being made there.

And yeah there are stores in Akihabara that will sell Eroge (costing over $90USD) but you also have stores like Tsukumo that sell PC stuff. Stuff is different there especially because there also seems to be a used PC games market where you have very old stuff still being sold for very high prices that people will likely never end up buying.

I could tell you a little more about some stuff if you are curious (based over what I have seen/read online)

I see a lot of viewer growth for Korean and Japanese streamers with PC gaming on Twitch. Is it just them joining Twitch and they are already playing PC games or is PC gaming growing in Japan and Korea?

Ooohhh... so we have to be on our best behavior for a few hours? Does that mean more or less anime?

Psychonauts 2 was the #4 selling game on Steam last week. I think that's pretty good all things considered.
I obviously wanted it to do better, but it was always going to have a limited appeal... so yes, I think that's a good result.

I just hope Microsoft is happy with it and about having a critical success, and does not force Double Fine to try to go for a more generic "mass market" game.

I think it's game streaming growing by leaps and bounds there, and many games that streamers play being (best) on PC.
That might of course translate to additional growth of PC gaming beyond just the streamers themselves, but I think that's the direction of the (potential) implication, not the other way around.
