Even Fromsoftware doesn't like Japan and anime

I'm assuming the rest of that says Anime

Its trying too much to be modern Left 4 Dead(shamelessly), but misses everything that made Left 4 Dead great, the characters are unlikable, the maps are too short, the enemies are unremarkable, the AI director is too dumb, and everything around it is mediocre.

For what new is trying to do, the card system is just a gimmick that makes the default state of the game pretty bad, the weapon system with finding attachments through the map is somewhat neat, but both has color rarity for some reason and some weapons are pretty boring to use(theres a lot of weapons in this game).

Theres some fun to be had, but $0 to $10 fun, not $60.
that's disheartening, as my friends and I have been playing vermintide 1 and 2 to fill that gap, and are about half way through #2 now. Was hoping this might scratch that eventual itch

I need a mouse pad. Are there recommended ones ? Some specific material to look for ?

I was thinking how I'm a shit-tier shooter, and while I have no reason to believe this will change in any meaningful ways, methink using a mouse pad older than some elementary school kids is not ideal. I mean, slick this shit is not. At all. In Kill It With Fire for example, very lightly moving the mouse to aim for those little spiders was doing nothing.

I have one that was gifted to me with a photo of my significant other & I from one of those "take a photo and put it on anything" type sites. It's not quality, other than being foam or something. Unless you're trying to get super serious, its not gonna matter. Use what fits the space you have that's way more important. Get a huge one if you have room on the desk, or a small shaped one if that fits better. IMO that's what matters most.

I can only recommend what I've been using for the past two years. HyperX's Fury Speed Mouse Mat. It comes in three different sizes. The material and build quality is excellent. I've got XL version. I've washed it twice now and the material is still good as ever.

I just use a 90cm X 40cm cloth mouse pad. Has rubber on the bottom. Nice big and comfortable. Probably not great for competitive gaming though.

Is it, though? Intel Xe can't be much better than the RDNA2 based GPU into the Deck, and RAM is probably faster on the Deck too.
The OneXPlayer has a significantly faster CPU, especially in bursts. But for a device like this you'll basically never be CPU limited in gaming, so the Steam Deck will perform better with its higher memory bandwidth and better GPU. (Even before you take into account its target resolution)

Why installing VC++ libraries for individual games in Steam is still a thing...

You should let the developers know, if you need to install any VC++ redistributables manually then that basically means they didn't check a checkbox they should check in the Steam backend.

Edit:
Unless you mean why Steam still has to install MSVC redistributables. If so, the answer to that is Microsoft. For some reason they seem fine with distributing metric fucktons (as in, 100s of MBs) of absolutely useless bullshit as part of Windows updates, but not the VC runtime libraries.

back 4 blood really opens up on the higher difficulties and in the second half of the content available, but i feel this speaks more to deficiencies in the base fabric of the experience that has to be compensated for by making difficulty the primary motivation. the weapons feel better compared to the alpha, but enemies still aren't fun to fight. at the very least, the special ridden don't quite force players to shape their approach around them as much as they did in l4d - a single special infected could completely force a team into relocating or prioritizing targets in such a way that each one held genuine threat, which the ridden lack despite the game often spawning 3-6 of the same one within seconds of each other. hordes are small in number and don't feel as impressive in their ability to flood an area and saturate the space players could use to try to run. the level design is just too wide... not nearly clever enough with choke points and events which should be much more bombastic and exciting with today's technological capabilities!!

undecided on the card system atm. it really seems to shine the most on the harder difficulties where every bonus and benefit matters way more, but i'm not convinced it's well-suited to be a primary mechanic. polishing up the gameplay loop to be as pleasing, simple and timeless should have been the major priority, with the card system being introduced as a secondary mutation-style mode that lets players (and the game) break things for fun and the excitement of pushing systems beyond their limits.

then there's bits and bobs like the whole ammo system being built around unique resources for each weapon archetype, which would make a lot more sense in a slower paced sim-lite game but for something as arcadey as b4b it feels wholly incompatible with the way they lean into other systems enabling one to stack the deck as it were in favor of their playstyle. if your party is not running at least 1 person with a unique archetype for their primary each, ammo starts to become scarce as guns chew through your reserves even if you play more cautiously. or how you can't swap attachments on the fly manually or even un-equip them, unless there's a mod of the same slot available nearby. the attachment system itself isn't the problem, so much as the implementation strikes one as incomplete when it only kinda-sorta lets you take advantage of the granularity it enables. sometimes. maybe. when it feels like it.

apparently the vs mode is just a survival mode and not campaign style, which i fear is going to harm the longevity of the game further as campaign vs is what kept myself and countless other l4d loyals returning to the game for thousands of hours. hope they are able to revisit this sooner rather than later.

i admit it sounds as though i am quite down on the whole thing, but i am enjoying myself better with a coordinated team than i was back in the alpha. it's nearly there, but some things feel like they were added for the sake of complexity over bringing something more meaningful or fun to the table. as a spiritual successor to l4d, it's missing quite a lot about what made those games so enjoyable to replay. as its own thing completely disregarding any heritage, it doesn't have an identity for itself and its cast - both human and infected - lack the star power factor that would make them memorable in their own right. yet on occasion it manages to have a momentary thrill, enough to impress upon me that it can be something great when all the right aspects click together. turtle rock just needs to solve the problem of how they can make those moments happen with more frequency. and maybe a tiny bit less so on how to monetize the game after it's out, which feels uncomfortably woven into many of the game's systems even before launch.

I've ordered twice from here and was extremely happy. You can see the last one I bought here. Pick the 3mm option since it has a great feeling to it.

On another note, nothing interesting in Sega's financial report. Might have to wait for a version with script or the Q&A session transcript.

Help me out with HUMBLE CHOICE : How to I get the $2 off?

I skipped last month (July) but I availed the $2 off from trying to pause my last-to-last month (June).
Will I be able to get another $2 off (or more 👀)?

Sure, GamesWorkshop are within their rights but they've really soured me on their stuff with the way they've pulled everything so they can force people to go to their new streaming service they're working on. Yet another subscription service.

I'm not interested and i doubt they care as they have plenty of fanatical fans who will pay them all the money GM ask for, they'll complain but they'll still pay. Well, i hope the old fan creators who sign the contracts get some recognition and cash out of it at least.

edit: Warhammer+ is the service they're launching.

Thanks Ubisoft 💔 for letting me install Far Cry 5 which took a few couple of hours to download at least just to not be able to get it launched via Uplay. What is worse is just I woke up and tried to launch the game to see if this time I could play and to my surprise I got a "purchase" button instead of play.

Sorry for the little off-topic. To compensate this small mistake I present you with a new historical lowest price deal on

Wonder why Disco Elysium uses online services. Do devs get money if they share user data with Epic?

This is not primarily for data harvesting.

This is for cross-platform (PC, console, etc.) features, cross-store (Steam, EGS, etc.) features, achievements, anti-cheat, voice chat, etc.

The game is on EGS as well, so I guess EOS is used for achievements there, and the same build is shipped to every store.

Not sure whether this is a realistic output.

This article lays out a way of estimating how many units any Steam game has sold. It will provide a right range for the majority of games. We are using an advanced version of what’s been known as the Boxleiter method or the NB number – estimating Steam game units sold using the number of reviews they’ve got.

We’re using the largest dataset to date for this analysis with over 10,000 video games’ review to sales ratios analysed.

[...]

We also looked at the data for a huge leaked dataset of Steam games sales information in July 2018 with >10,000 datapoints.
It must be using this:
