How is Elex? Trying to find an openworld RPG and Steam recommended me it.
If you've played Risen, Two World II, Greedfall, Raven's Cry or games like that then you'll know what you're getting. An ambitious, big, tough at the start, Open world game with 3 different factions, tons of quests and choices and a smattering of eurojank. I love it. It is really tough at the start though, areas are scattered with high-level beasties to run away from until you get better gear etc and the progression system is odd but workable when you get it.

Well my experience with Shovel Knight Showdown was short lived:

"Hmm, it's been so long since I've played as Shovel Knight I don't really remember how to control him."
"Oh wow the screen is so cluttered with stuff happening I can't tell what is going on."
"Oh come on this Percy's Target mini game is BS"

Yeah I'll play something else.

Oh and RIP I forget to do the daily queue so that means 3 cards lost for good and about $0.09 less to spend on cards this time around
Can you still get cards for doing the discovery queues every day?
I didn't do them on previous days, because someone told me this year you couldn't get cards that way.

I went through one just now, and didn't get a card (and the queue is gone from the front page).

It's very good as an RPG. The quests are very interesting, most intertwined with others (so it's not even rare to mess up or complete something before you knew the full picture), and they do have huge consequences for the choices you make, including entire factions turning on you forever.
Also it's a PB game, so loot is scarce, but extremely powerful. When you're fully decked out you're almost invincible, and that's cool.

However balance is pretty rough; it's hard early on, a lot of items require too much stats to be worth it, the UI is very lacking, and the combat is an awful mess.
Melee is... pretty damn terrible. Ranged combat is just serviceable, magic is a bit fiddly but works... potentially too well.

For a game with a similar feel to Piranha Bytes games, I'll always recommend Outward. It's pretty much Gothic, but better, outside of the poopy story segments. And it has online coop.

Hey guys, I'm trying nvidia inspector for the first time.
For a smooth 60fps framerate, what should I choose?
Frame Rate Limiter v2 (60 FPS) and Vertical Sync forced off?

edit: also, how does it work? Do I need nvidiaprofiler open when playing?

Did Valve overturn the single-use coupon yet? I didn't feel like completing any quests otherwise. :02dead:
Issue for today would be that I don't have any mic with me right now. I guess the system just cares that you connect to a voice chat, though, not that you actually actively use it, I guess.

Ideally, you should disable the in-game vsync, and enable driver-forced vsync in NV inspector. You don't have to keep it open while playing, but just remember to apply/save your settings before playing.

So i am not great at CSGO but I also don't suck at it completely, which is nice. Also LighySync is pretty cool when the game supports it. CSGO supports it and it's nice how the colors change according to stuff.

Even though I play souls like games with a controller I would really like it if stuff like health would "sync" with LighySync. So having it be blue/green when I am at full health, and then turn red/flash when I'm in critical condition would be cool (if my dual shock 4 controller also did the same it would be even cooler).

So I guess LighySync was not a complete waste of money, what does suck is finding out which games support it. You can make and share game setting profiles with other users via the Logitech G hub thing but I don't think it changes according to dynamic events.

Oh and I wonder what the DS5 controller will be like, will Sony want it to be more like PC (Steam input) and you can change stuff to your preference?

I know some of you helped, but here's the end result of the IntiCreates fiasco.

If you go to the site itself it says the promotion does not apply to Steam. So they lied and it was done out of pure greed. Thank you to all those who proved they were full of shit.

Im gonna go ahead and recommend

It's a pretty good game and Outlaw is coming to Steam next year. Haven't played much of Rebel Galaxy, but I like what I have played.

Is it? Dev was being all high and mighty about how it's not about any kind of epic moneyhat but about driving Steam to lower its absurd unfair fee on principle and shit like that. On the other hand barely anyone has been talking about the game since launch and they've only done basic tweets about console versions and the occasional patch, nothing to boast about success or anything so hopefully they've caved and will launch on Steam asap.

Yeah?

I mean, Im talking about Rebel Galaxy that is out on Steam, which I found to be pretty good, haven't played much of it though.

No idea if Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is good though.

Yes it's pretty good, I'm talking about expecting Outlaw to release on Steam, if they confirmed that or anything.

Edit: I tried to find the relevant tweets and can't find anything mentioning Steam any more so maybe they deleted it. The faq also seems to have been worded kind-of-good so either they've changed it (I couldn't dig up any web archive versions that are different however) or I completely misread and misunderstood the message during an upsetting period. So for now I take all that back. Though it still doesn't confirm Steam but says it will launch "elsewhere".

Q) So that means it’s not going to launch on Steam or GoG? What gives?
A) Yes, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is going to be exclusively on the Epic Store for a while. Eventually it’ll make its way elsewhere. (Console releases are not tied to this)

Q) You’re being a coy bastard. How long, and don’t be a weasel.
A) 12 months from launch.

Q) Exclusives are anti-consumer, why would you do this? (you monster)
A) OK, so that’s a little complicated. And our answer is long-winded. Bear with us.

So, before Valve and the 70/30 split it was pretty darn rough to be an indie (both in terms of royalty share and in terms of the ability to sell things without a publisher). We can all thank Valve for using their leverage to make that happen, and usher in the era we have now. We think it’s safe to say that a large percentage of the games made today wouldn’t exist without it.

Epic is using their leverage to push that even farther, to 88/12. That’s another whole strata of developers who can survive.

Would we like that to become the new standard?
Yes.

Can that be done without leverage?
No.

Is some form of exclusive content required to get the momentum to make that happen?
Yes.

And we’re willing to get on board to make that happen. The only way this gets any traction is with some exclusive content and we’re willing to be one of the canaries in the mineshaft.

Do we hope there is a big upside for us? Sure. That’d be amazing. But we also hope this is the start of establishing a new standard.
And lots more bs about what EGS offers like optionally sharing your e-mail with the dev so they can contact you directly being a plus for the user, lol >_>

But yeah not so bad like I thought it was before since they at least acknowledge Steam's huge positive effects.

They've confirmed a Steam release 1 year after EGS a few times on their FB page.

I expect every EGS exclusive except for some F2P games, Journey to the Savage Planet (acquired by Google Stadia) and Airborne Kingdom (dev said it's fully exclusive) to be released on Steam.

Still not sure about Ubi games, might be forever EGS/Uplay exclusive, but you never know.

Totally Off-Topic but after reading on recommended ways to reheat pizza.
Up until now, I used microwave and rarely oven.
This time I tried heated closed pan with a bit of water. Worked really well. Pizza was juicy.

If you're looking for a good way to spend those cents you get from selling the event cards, the Freedom Force bundle is well worth it:

---

Speaking of purchases, here are a few cheap games I picked this weekend:

(cheaper if you own titles from the 2 Steam bundles that feature this game)

---

And, ever since I pretty much stopped backing games on crowdfunding websites, I have increased my purchases of early access games.
They usually cost far less, and there's at least the guarantee that I get something playable (even if the game is never finished).

There's some neat stuff available on Steam.
Here's a few Early Access games I purchased since the sale started:

Like, you can speak in a permanent off-key falsetto? that's impressive, both being off-key all the time, and maintaining that falsetto.

In Life is Strange 2 news:

Just finished the first episode. Already much better than the first game ever was. The characters both feel like actually interesting, and nice people. The early twist didn't take me much by surprise, honestly, as the even the game's banner teases enough to piece together what will happen.
But the story only really begins there, the interaction between Sean and Daniel is great, as is the feeling of being lost, in every sense of the word.
Looking forward to where it goes from there.
One thing I'm calling now: That puppy will die a gruesome, tragic death. No way it's still alive till Episode 5
