I think we should move on tbh. This is one of those topic that will always lead to negative outcomes, and this forum isn't about that. I
All I'll say is, you need to think as a non-American. Don't think as an American. Barring the Middle East most people I come across (and my service has meant I work in different countries every 3-4 years on different continents) are with Israel not since now, but since the last war. The way it's playing out is not the way it should have because as with all wars, the innocent get hurt whilst the people who should be are hiding safely away.
And again, there will be many people on both sides. But honestly let's just leave it.
I won't bog down the thread more after this, but if a person cannot come out against genocide, they are not a reasonable, healthy human. I wasn't suggesting Americans have a perfect view, rather that the country that is MOST propping up Israel, and also the country that has committed the most war crimes itself across the world in the past like 70 years, THOSE PEOPLE are coming out in droves saying "this is fucking bad".
I'm not defending Palestine from my own perspective (although I like to think I'd be against civilian bombings even if Palestinians weren't pleading for help), I'm listening to the people there and what they are showing the world, and also actual experts. Also, like... learning from history. The Israel colonization of Palestinian people has generally been known as "bad" for decades, and the results of that are seeing an explosion now. Indigenous peoples from all over the world, themselves pretty fucking knowledgeable in the horrors of colonialism, are standing up for Palestinians. People in Ireland, US, Canada, Mexico, all over South America, UK, Germany, France (some EU countries making those protests specifically illegal to try and curb public support for stopping Israel's genocide), and even Ukraine which does frankly have some other stuff to worry about. Palestinians even have the support of progressives, liberals, and conservatives here in the US, basically unheard of in modern day. It's largely only the leaders, actively ignoring the will of the people, of the countries that are allowing this genocide to continue.
I don't know who these people are you're finding in the past 2 months standing with Israel, but they are uninformed or they are bad people. All those people who said "the holocaust wouldn't happen today, we wouldn't allow it".... well, another one is happening right now (actually more than one, there's also the one happening in the Congo which also is seeing very little condemnation from any people in power but at least they aren't using our tax dollars to directly bomb civilians there).
If you live in a European country, or the US, your government is openly supporting genocide of millions of people under the exceedingly false guise of not being anti-semitic (there are anti-semitic groups supporting the Israel invasion - that alone should raise eyebrows). There are tons of Jewish groups coming out publicly against Zionism and the genocide of Palestine by Israel. I am more than happy to stand with them, and the millions and millions of other people condemning this.
The October 7th attack by Hamas was horrific - obviously, all successful terrorist attacks are, that's the point. The fact they were allowed to by the Israeli forces, and Netanyahu and his extremist right wing government pals are using that as an excuse to target civilians and wipe out infrastructure required for millions of people, is way more horrific. Israel government has killed more than 10 times as many innocent people now as the Hamas attack, and they have stated they do not intend to stop. That's not how you get rid of a terrorist group - that's how you ensure they will always exist. It's not how Israeli people want to heal from a wound, it's how you generate infinitely more suffering.
