Well at this point that is expected. Somehow a lot of publisher held back PC announcements as long as possible.

As for the code, I bet it's because of piracy although I don't know how they generate the codes for PS4 (the code that given to you after finishing story)
It's tied to your PSN account, There's a menu option for the serial code that's tied to the account that made the transaction, as in if u bought it digital on ur JP account, you need to redeem it through the JP account, it errors out if you try to use your EN account. Which imo, already means there's some form of account detection already baked in for the codes to get around the piracy issue.

If "steam refund" was really an issue either, you could just make the game delay giving you the code for a few hours, and it's not like you're beating RPG mode in either difficulty in 2 hours anyway. I'm hoping the JP community bitches hard enough about this to make cygames implement some kind of work around, because this was a really dumb decision for the potential long tail of the game on PC.

It looks like Divinity Original Sin 3.

Praise the gods!

I was anxious that it was gonna be a pseudo 3D/top-town hybrid like Dragon Age where fans of both styles served but neither fully satisfied.

HUGE sigh of relief.

(Now watch the reveal trailer show zoomed down behind the shoulder 3D camera action.)

Thanks a lot for your... novella inky ;)
No, really, thanks !

I will have to read that again to better understand it, but it will help. One question though : I’m always short on id scrolls, and you tell me to not even look for them. So I suppose I still pick far too much shit on the ground. Forgetting the loot filter option (that I’m not against but would maybe wait another few hours to better understand the mechanics) would you say I shouldn't pick up blue stuff ? It’s what I already began to do, between regular loot and your friendly local alchemist who appears on the regular, I couldn’t finish the Prison if I didn’t put a stop to this blue madness.
Are there only yellow and orange items after blue ?

I can see the points in favor of RTwP - greater immersion, better flow of combat, there are plenty of things in favor of it. I personally think I prefer turn-based but I can see Larian offering both.

Great, they are ruining Baldur's Gate
Have you seen the screenshots? There's one with a "turn-based" sign, and another without. Given the context, I'd assume then that the game allows for turn-based and RTWP.
Of course, I'm not sure how you can have the same combat system work well in both of these modes. Original Sin had a lot of things, like how movement was handled, which would make little sense in a real time setting. The actual DnD rules are essentially turn-based, so maybe if they imitate the old BG games for the RTWP part, and stick close to the rules for the turn-based one, it could work out well?

Will be interesting to see, if any dev can make this balance act work, it's Larian

There's no way the game is balanced well enough to be adapted to both Rtwp and Turn based, so that will be a mess. If the game is balanced towards Rtwp, then I will be happy, otherwise it will be awful

RIP new Descent

Hi everyone,

Today, some news sites reported our January lawsuit against Descendent Studios and CEO Eric Peterson, and I would like to send a message to the backers of Descent: Underground and fans of the franchise.

To start, I cannot know how frustrating this situation has been for you. I want to personally apologize for the lack of communication. Little Orbit remains under non-disclosure, and we are engaged in an active lawsuit, so we are severely limited in what we can share at this time.

With that in mind, I do want to say the following:
  • Descendent Studios has shut down their website/forums and ceased working on the game. This was made public by their CEO Eric Peterson some time ago.
  • Since then, we have made every attempt to resolve this matter without legal action, but all of those efforts have failed.
  • We did not receive any of the Kickstarter money, so we cannot refund any of those funds.
  • Since we do not yet have a release date for the game, we have processed refunds for all of the pre-orders we took.
Finally, we are all in this together. We love this game, and Little Orbit has spent a significant amount of time, money, and effort to help Descendent Studios deliver the game.

It is still our intention to get the game out as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Matt

Yes, imagine silly humour in a franchise known for its sombre atmosphere and barbarians speaking with their pet hamsters.
I'm with him though. BG had humor in spades but at the end of the day, the plot was good and solemn, the world immersive instead of feeling like a joke was about to drop every couple lines of dialogue. That's one of my causes of concern for BG III, whether Larian will be able to nail the tone.

RIP new Descent

I had no idea there was a litigation between those two. Considering the founders of the opposing studios were ex-SC devs, I'm quite disheartened to learn of this.

Devolver has been teasing this since the beginning of the year. You can tell it was gonna be EGS because they push it on social media super hard. Can’t wait for this to be a repeat of Observation lol.

Meanwhile there are 10 announced upcoming Steam releases from Devolver. Great get, Epic!
Now that they don't have Death Stranding to shill their game on, I wonder what their next target is if it doesn't sell well? :LUL:

Man, that whole Devolver shtick about being a "man of the people" and "not corporate" really loses its bite when they saddle up to moneybags that court monopolies in the space.
Devolver's schtick has always been Japes and Edginess, even the "Man of the People" and "Not Corporate" is just jokes.
They have fun with stuff but they're just the same as other corporations especially true the bigger they get.

I have a laugh with them but business-wise they're no different, they want money.

They mention more here:

So if true:

there are 4 types of guns in the game, but the weapons are entirely upgradable and you have to upgrade them physically.

Also, there are not many melee weapons....because due to the VR physics you can use any object in the game as a melee weapon.

All smooth locomotion settings are done, meaning you don't need to teleport at all in the game.

No problem, it was a bit of a ramble on my part.

If you need ID scrolls, pick them up. What I was referring to was ID scroll fragments, which you get when you sell white equipment. 5 fragments make 1 scroll, but it's too low value to bother. They look like this
and you pretty much don't want to see them when you sell stuff.

There are some vendor recipes to get easy useful currency that you should be aware of. For example, if you pick an item with 1 Red 1 Green 1 Blue linked sockets, you can sell it for a Chromatic Orb. I also would really, really recommend just using the loot filter. It won't make a difference to learning and understanding mechanics, if anything it will help because it highlights things much better and anything it hides you won't miss out on, because you will still see plenty of items in that category, just the useful ones. And it's pretty much the default way of playing. Another useful recipe if you are in need of ID scrolls is to sell your Blacksmith Whetstones and Armourer Scraps for some. You'll get plenty of these and you won't need dozens and dozens of them:

Yeah, the item tiers go white -> blue -> yellow -> unique, although unique aren't immediately best in slot items. You want to use mostly yellow items, blue items become obsolete pretty early on, except for flasks which are only found in blue and unique varieties. The way you enhance yellow items later on is by crafting affixes at the crafting table (you unlock this around act 2 and you get a quest for it) and enchanting and other shenanigans. You really should be finding enough yellow items on your own as you progress, don't worry about that. And if you don't find the one you want, like I advised before, using Alchemy Orbs and Essences is a correct option to fill those slots while you are learning the ropes. Then, once you have yellow items go check the crafting table in your hideout and look for cheap things that you can put on it, like extra life, resists, mana or main stats depending on what you need.

After playing all of D:OS 1 &2 and PoE 1&2, I am 100% behind a turn based Baldur's Gate.
