"coming to the PC for the first time" is a curious choice of words for Axiom Verge 2, a game that hasn't yet been released on any platform. bet you thought it was FFVIIR or something when he said that, lol
Gotta hype out what little they have I guess. I mean Axiom Verge 2 turned out to be one of their two highlight titles, which shows how much little material promotion team has to work with.

Lol that pricing on the Kingdom Hearts games.
Those games are routinely $20 or less on console. That's gonna be a no from me, disregarding launcher platform.

Fun fact: The Kingdom Hearts All In One Package is currently 90 BRL on the PSN and contains every game up to KH3.

Square is charging 1000 BRL for all the games on PC.

I mean it works for Square Enix, they get guaranteed sales from Epic so higher the price is, more money they get.

You all should stop this guess-what-game-will-be-EGSExclusive
Its only hurting you, it's not fun and its pointless.
But I guess that we all be doomed even after the shitshow of this Spring thing
There's more talk about what it is NOT on Steam than the big fucking sale right now. I mean whatever, but folks need to stop letting Timmy live rent free on their heads.

Also, Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition is 80% off which knocks it down to $20. With Humble discount, it brings it down to $17 before sales tax.
This is a great price, and I almost jumped on it. But the reality is that this game will be like <$10 in not too long of a time, probably before I would even get around to playing it. Oh well.

Damn I called both Axiom Verge 2 and KH going EGS ages ago. My brain is massive.

Epic brought out several members of the KH team at GDC and they jacked off Epic as a great partner back in 2019 so the writing was on the wall honestly.

Wait, what? (I admit I'm not a currency and cost of living expert)
Are you telling me the game costs 10 times more ?

Just a bit from the dev of AV2. I'm glad he was able to get what he feels is a fair price for the game.

I don't care about the game, like at all.

Having said that, someone tell this guy that everyone here has a job, has bill to pay and, eventually, a family to maintain. Why is it so hard to just say that money are a hell of reason when we talk about business? Take the bag and just say that, its okay.
Its sickening reading this wall of text written while crying that says how hard is it to live. We already know that, thanks.

I'm an asshole, I know. But it really annoys me the way indie dev, primarly, approach their fans through this type of message.

To be honest, there's a good chance Axiom Verge 2 could be just a tiny fraction of the success of the first one. AV came out at just the right time. Now in 2021, from the footage I just saw, it looks rather average. Getting paid up front is probably not a bad move if you have that option.

But for real though, the only thing I was intending to buy this sale was some Atelier if it at least reached the last historical low.
So yeah, don't really care about this sale.

Until you wonderful people unearth some wonderful deals I can't say no to, but that's a different story 💸

Vaelheim is at 214k ccu.
That is insane. Nothing on Steam ever blew up this fast I think. At least in terms of reduced price ea games.

Even PUBG needed months before it really took off in the summer after releasing in the Spring.

I wonder what kind of roadmap these guys have? Do they plan on doing a lot of content updates? I'll probably pick it up in the summer sale. Can't wait.

You are not an asshole. I wish this developer all the best in his personal and professional life but I don't make purchasing decisions based on sentimental reasons anymore. I stopped ever since I noticed a very specific pattern: developers making business decisions based on their financial benefit and then trying to manipulate customers by pulling at their heartstrings. The only relationship is want to have with developers is "you offer a product, I decide whether to buy it or not". I don't care about anything else because they don't care about anything else.

His son is special needs and has a ton of medical expenses. He was holding back in that write up.

WAY more excited about this one than KH ... no joke
Eh, isn't this by the same devs that made that recent Call of Cthulhu game? I've been on a Lovecraft kick lately and gave it a shot the other night. I wanna keep playing but man, the low quality was jarring right out of the gate. Probably not the best idea to jump into a lower budget game right after Cyberpunk though, to be fair lol.

Yeah, that was a pretty awful take and post... Get mad at EGS, not the indies taking the deals. Like, wtf? In most cases, I'd wager it provides some much needed financial security. There's never any guarantee your next game is going to do well.

Yeah I'm all in with the support the developers narrative and more power to him. But man specially this year is kinda getting of my nerves, it's a shit year and the people with low income already have too much on their plate with barely passing by.

I love some parts of this industry and honestly wish it can grow more but at some poing after all the full price releases, dlc, exlcusivities I start to ask... okay but when do we talk about the consumer? I know the ''what about me'' narrative can be seen as selfish but a lot of people can't simply buy everything full price and reward shitty practices that only will only take us to even shittier prices.

I know how it feels to struggle to live, I know plenty of people in even worse places than I was, devs (or indie devs) have it tough yeah but it's the same for the majority of the people.

Again this isn't directed to de AV dev or anything, it's just more like a general thought, but man can't this year I'm getting tired of all the ''support the devs'' without reservation.

I'm very sorry about that.

But that doesn't change what I said. If he have to make a specific decision about his business because of personal thing its okay (I mean, it would absolutely be better to not have to worry about such a thing). It would be okay even if it was because he just wanted to have more money. I-don't-care, its business, do whatever you want to do with your product.
I just wonder why we have to deal every time with this emotional side of thing, I'm a customer and only that. I'm "good" as long as I've enough money (And a job) to buy said product, otherwise I would be no one, nothing, in the eyes of an indie dev. And that's okay, that's how it works .

I wish you the best mr. Happ.

It's a two way street, obviously. It's not the consumer's responsibility to support devs. If you're struggling then don't feel the need to buy everything full price. Hell, don't buy anything full price. There's so many games coming out these days that waiting for sales has never been easier. There's always something interesting to play, whether in your backlog or already getting deep discounts.

No one got mad at the developer I think. Understanding doesn't necessarily mean supporting. It is still our right as customers to not buy the game if we choose not to.

Same here. I like that he addressed exclusivity respectfully and like an adult, unlike the Ooblets assholes. But still, I don't work to make money so that I can buy anticonsumer (overpriced?) products to support someone else being able to have a fun "hobby" job. I get his reasons, but I also don't care. Everyone has to work to get by, most of us at shitty unfun jobs at that.
