The new DLC for Dead Cells is coming tomorrow. Missing the two previous DLCs? They are currently cheap on Gamersgate

Did he forgot game was sold on EGS too?
Have you seen the way Sony studios (Guerrilla and Bend in this case) advertises sales on PC version? They only advertise the Steam version on their social media. Mentioned it before. Like, Sony usually puts their PC games on sale at the same time on EGS and Steam, but only talk about Steam when they wanna advertise the sale.

They don't advertise the sales on EGS for the same reason they don't advertise the sales of their games on XBox Live - I imagine they sell the same amount on both platforms.

I skimmed through this shit, don’t know why, waking up. And maybe there is a reason/excuse but there is a glorious pettiness in the fact that if a winning bid is under 1 wETH the NFT will be sent to the buyer ’at a later date’ instead of immediately.

I expect they haven't made the sales to cover the money Epic gave them for exclusivity. Why advertise a sale on EGS if Epic gets all the cash.

I always find it funny that when Horizon came out, they put the game on the Steam Winter Sale in 2020, but not EGS, because they let the Epic coupon take the hit as it brought the price down to the same price the Steam version was on sale lol.

Deep Rock Galactic with coop is so much fun. Old players are friendly, too. :cuteblob:

During my nine hours into the game I have encountered a few bugs. Can't be too strict to indie developers so I don't mind.
Some sales figures.
Sony value metascore, too. Pretty pointless, but that is probably the reason why they were disappointed by Days Gone.

i'm so jelly. i wanna feel this. Been sitting on my 3080 money for over a year and a half... Just cannot source one, and the queue for 3080's don't seem to be moving at all. :blobweary:
I bet most of the silicon goes to TI cards now. They saw the scalper prices and wanted a bigger piece of that and made new SKU's with much higher msrp.

At least that's the conclusion I've come to since 3070ti and 3080ti are actually somewhat available at retail over here (for a cool €1300 and €2000+) but none of base cards are.

As a PC gamer of many years it's almost a habit for me to hunt out the intro movies in a game's folders and rename them or replace them with blank video files. I had a selection of blank or 5 second black videos in various formats just for that reason. Sometimes i put a couple of the originals back in as they mask loading periods and i'd rather have something on screen so i know something is happening.

Unfortunately many can't be made skippable due to contracts and licensing. It's got better though. I forget which but some games really took the piss a few years ago with the number of intro movies and branding screens.

Troubleshooters is indeed excellent. It's a tad slow to get off the ground but it's one of my favorite tactics RPGs now alongside FFT
What really struck me about Troubleshooter is how much the game evolves mechanically over the course of time.

It opens looking like anime XCOM with a dash of VN flourishes. Cool. Then they introduce FFT job systems. Then Pokemon monster capture/training. Oh, and don't forget about the robots.

It's just crazy how much is going on with the game.

Amazingly, it has 48K reviews on Steam, which puts it in the ballpark of almost 1 million sold using the 1:20 ratio estimation or reviews to copies sold.

Granted, with these potential GOTY darlings, I imagine there are a fair number more folks who leave reviews compared to less critically-acclaimed titles and it is possible the reviews to copies sold is much narrower than other titles.
1 in 20 seems low. The lowest reported ratio I've seen published is 1 in 35 and it's probably closer to 1 in 50 for most.

I keep putting it down because It doesn't explain itself very well. Partly its the translation which is forgivable but more because of the unforgivable Systems on top of systems on top of systems. It just pisses me off too much with its never endingness of stuff to think about. I just want to murder things in a FFT style, not experience a dissertation in the potential of FFT style systems.

I still need to finish Yakuza 2, Murder by numbers and Relicta before even booting this for the 1st time + I also have a new job so free time is a rare commodity these days...

All this time I thought it was just an anime XCOM

Oh for sure, 1:20 seems super low, but since Devolver just announced 1M sold the more common ratios would push it way over a million. 1:35 would give it almost 1.7M sales based on the 48K Steam reviews. It is also entirely possible Devolver is only considering sales as of a particular date and may not be accounting for the most recent sales from winter sales which may have juiced the review numbers and/or total sold.

My personal hypothesis are games received extremely well or extremely poorly may have lower ratios than most. With Inscryption being in the running for a lot of GOTY awards and a huge hit, it is possible a lot of folks have left reviews.

In either case, I think learning the store split would be interesting since we have only been told this a handful of times and I can think of only 1 or 2 devs who shared exact % break down and only a few others who have shared high level results.

The original animator as well as Cold Storage are in the comments thanking them for the nostalgia and hard work.

Original for comparison - in my mind at the time it looked like the remake, ha.
With the great reception of Omega Collection on PSVR Sony is finally making a new one for PS5&PSVR2 right? right? please?

...

The thinking is probably that critically highly acclaimed games are great ads for the playstation ecosystem which from a business perspective is the reason for making first party games in the first place.

I've totally tried to signal-boost indies through Steam user reviews over the past couple/few years. Wish I would have started sooner.

No one needs to hear what I think about Deathloop or Forza Horizon 5 as you can't walk into any random gaming website without tripping over exhaustive coverage.

Now take a solo dev project like Northern Journey. That poor bastard has zero promotion. No enthusiast website coverage. No Steam storefront space. Yet he managed to craft one of the best games of 2021 all by himself.

Yeah, I'd say that deserves a Steam review shoutout.

as sad as this is on face value, 1) didn't Days Gone have a fairlytroubled development? and 2) it certainly had a much weaker MC score

call me a bastard but if i were Sony I wouldn't be greenlighting a sequel either, and putting that money into a different AAA blockbuster (let's face it Sony doesn't give a shit about anything else anymore) that wouldn't potentially backfire on yet another troubled development cycle and potentially lead to lower sales from the first due to some people who bought Days Gone 1 not returning for the sequel cos they didn't like it

I started Ghostrunner last night, i am already like half way through XD But i like it so far.
I love this game so much, but I gotta say, as an old man with poor reflexes, the last level almost broke me.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious there is more to it than what the tweet is implying. We could say because it scored low, but then you have a sequel to knack. Could it be the long development time, could be but then you have Team Ico taking forever on their games. In the end it's probably Sony seeing what future titles they have in development and wanting to diversify more.

At the far end of 52, I don't even bother with reflex games anymore.

Can still handle adventure-like shooters like Prey, Fallout 4, Borderlands 3 just fine. But man, forget it with competitive stuff like CoD, Overwatch, etc.

And don't even get me started on technical platformers, lol.

I'm only speculating but I think Sony has changed in many ways even since the release of Knack 2. And as for Team ICO well that's gone after all.
Imo, it seems to me that if it ain't a 5-10m+ seller AND an 80+MC hit it's not happening. The success of TLOU and being able to bottle that as a template has forever changed Sony.

And I think that's sad as there are a lot less interesting and different games coming out as a result I feel. Near everything is a AAA 3rd person blockbuster of a kind. There are only a few exceptions I can think of that don't fit in the mould (GT7, Returnal but personally I couldn't care less about those)

Aah yeah I was thinking more about Ueda, but I realize his next game might be multi-platform anyway.

I mean, you very much could softlock yourself in FFT if you weren't paying attention to how to build and the systems, and didn't spread out your saves (as one of my friends ended up doing and having to restart). Nowadays we can look back and it seems pretty straightforward but I remember my friends and I trying to figure out how to break the power curve on our own for months.

The Troubleshooter systems are pretty basic unless you are trying to minmax, most of the passives just do what they say and there's not much (if any) multiplicative vs. additive stuff to figure out like there are in some TRPGs. I didn't even interact with the crafting (except for salvaging stuff) until I was done with the campaign. Kind of like with FFT, 95% of your power is going to come from the talent books (passives) and stacking them in with similar passives. Gear is as simple as "use the highest level". All the pets / robots are ancillary, I had to look up a guide to kind of understand if I was missing anything but they're essentially sidekicks with simpler structure and much fewer options. Also unneeded, although strong if you can use them right.

I do have some complaints - some of the materials are kind of grindy. Most of the "crafting" stuff pre-max-level could just be removed at no real loss. Some characters (like the main character) are clearly just underpowered even in best case, although you can make them contribute still at least. Also the end-game challenges are so tough they force certain playstyles but that's pretty much true of every game since ever, but I'd still like to see more variety.

Looking at game release schedule for this year i think that this could end up being one of the best gaming years ever. Elden Ring, Horizon, Stalker 2, Dying Light 2, Hogwarts, Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad, Starfield, Ghostwire Tokyo, Saints Row, Plague Tale 2, potentially Skate, Jedi Fallen Order 2, The Last of Us Remake, Project Callisto, Avatar,...
