Rebirth isn't what I'd consider playable on the Deck, but the Deck is great for playing Queen's Blood. I always leave all the QB stuff for when I'm on the handheld.

Having a great time with Ender Magnolia so far. Awesome game to play on the Deck, just like the prequel. 90fps, HDR, just gorgeous.

In relative terms, it's a pretty good result for Square. In absolute terms, this number is pretty dire for a GOTY candidate and really shows how badly Square have mismanaged their brand on PC.
But it's a lot better than I expected tbh.

Their numbers are getting better overtime as their strategy shifts. It's pretty clear how their latest two big profile games are getting better results than previous ones based on the momentum and the pricing.

Happy to see that Rebirth seems to be doing well.

To elaborate on my previous post on Steam Deck performance, in the overworld you actually get a solid 30fps at low settings and it still looks decent on the small screen. It's the towns that kill performance. It's just not ideal to have your first experience with the game with so many visual compromises, but I can see myself cleaning up side stuff on the Deck before moving on to a new area.

“As someone who plays games on PC, I sometimes use mods myself,” “There are mods that could shock some players, so I encourage users to research what they’re installing and for creators to be mindful of their audience.” He definitely installed a Tifa nude mod. :p

Youtube Music is just so good at finding new songs, usually other services don’t really match my tastes/mood
I wish there was a way (or maybe I haven't found it) where you can just have actual official music albums to stream in the app and not the random fan uploads. Basically I still enjoy full album listening so I found spotify also pretty trash for that (audio quality issues aside). I've been using Apple Music mainly, but I do have YouTube Music as well.

Nice to see another GOTY win for this game. Can't seem to embed the YouTube short.

still remember queen's leaks few years ago. this was one of them.
Would be neat to get a remaster of this classic on PC. Don't expect Sega to ever give us a sequel, but having it preserved in a form not tied down to the DreamCast would be neat.

I finished Ender Magnolia (100%).

Absolutely an early GotY contender.
It's one of the most polished Metroidvanias I've played -- and one of the most "player-friendly" in a way. Specifically, it gives you full fast travel extremely early, and also has a very good map system that makes it extremely easy to track where you need to revisit when. One could argue that this level of convenience takes something away from the genre, but I really don't think so. What it does reduce is time spent just running around -- I think the games are similar in size, but Ender Lilies took me 22 hours to 100%, while this one took me 18 hours.

Anyway, highly recommended to every fan of the genre. Especially if you liked the first game, since this one improves on basically every weakness of that. If there's one thing that is a downgrade compared to the first one then it is the emotional impact of the story, but that's rather subjective, and the first game is extremely hard to live up to in that regard for me (and it's not like this is something I generally expect in Metroidvanias in the first place).

So after 50 hours of the First Descendant, my recommendation is to play Warframe.

My issue is that if you get certain characters in your party then you don't actually get to play the game. These characters have OP Nuke options that just wipe everything at all times. When you get the lesser used characters joining a party it's a lot of fun and the gameplay is great. You can run solo as well and it works well, but if the game can't be played as "intended" I think it is a bit of a failure.

Also there isn't a lot there at the moment. A bit unfair to compare to Warframe seeing as the First Descendant is only a year old and Warframe is 11 years old. However that is the competitor and the baseline you will always be compared to.

Also logging in to bare arses every time wears thin very quickly.

All of junon was so damn incredible. Every part of it was 10x better than the original.
Between all the minigames, The Queens Blood Tournament in the main story, all the comedy and the gooner bait, i almost forgot it's supposed to be a JRPG at times.

Lowkey had a total of 2 fights in the last 6 hours.

It's an amazing game with high highs when it wants to be, but it's sad it's being bogged down a bunch by Ubisoft Open-World design.
Because i can already see that i'm gonna need close to a 100 hours to finish this, whereas remake was like 25-30 hours long, which means i'm unlikely to ever replay this game, and being the middle part of a trilogy, unlikely to ever replay the trilogy entirely.

I made a game mod for the first time in a very long while. It's quite simple.

I was just annoyed every single time I play a (often very good, gameplay and art-wise) Unity game and then the developer never touched the graphics settings and gives you no way to touch the graphics settings.

Or, worse, optimize their shadow maps for, say, Switch, and then my PC is forced to work with that.

If you replay in the future remember hard mode is basically ng+ so it makes skipping a lot of world intel easy to do. I think the average play time of a hard mode run is like 20-30 hours because most people skip all the side stuff and skip/fast forward cutscenes (they added fast forward feature like a month ago)

Even on a normal play I think you can skip most world intel and it won't affect balance too much. You'll just miss out on the materia chadley sells.

Man, for a second there I thought you made a AC: Unity LOD fixer. :notlikethisblob:
Still appreciated, given the prevalence of Unity games... Do you think it'd be possible to fix default 50 Hz scroll mismatch many games exhibit, or would that require source code access?

The classic Unity FPS mismatch happens when people do all their game logic in the fixed 50 Hz physics timestamp, and that is probably impossible to meaningfully and correctly disentangle in the general case.
