Is this a threat?

Now for real, I gotta love how they avoided the real question with a very "confusing" wording when in reality they mean bringing Ubi games back to Steam as a platform, not Deck as a hardware because this last one isn't even an option for them, congrats, your backlog is already part of Decks catalog, hurray.

Will they come back? When (if) will this happen? They sure are looking for ways of doing this without being pointed as losers crawling back to Steam (which gamers will sure do) and make this as a business decision based on expansionism and potential revenue, in any case, yes, this is basically talking about Steam, not Steam Deck.

took this survey, it's usual "where do you play? how much? which genres? blah blah" but it still another chance to ask for more ports

Already asked for ports :evilblob:

Is this Steam Deck related?

Looking at the game description, it looks kinda conceptually similar to Animal Crossing.
AC runs in real time, so you can theoretically play it 24 hours a day, but after a while you won't have much to do.

So the notice sounds to me as the game is designed to offer enough content for 1-2 hours of daily play.
Bit late but as I have played it for a couple weeks I can chime in. It's very, very similar time gating to Animal Crossing, and I believe they added that notice in response to some criticisms about that. You CANNOT just grind through the game. Each NPC only ever (so far) gives one quest per day max and sometimes none. Resources regenerate once every 1-2 days (seems to vary). Shop refreshes per day, etc.

The game is fantastic and honestly I clear through everything I want to do in less than an hour per day, which is fine with me. You can spend more time gathering every single resource of X kind scattered around but that's not really needed. Personally, I think it's far better than Animal Crossing, but YMMV

I honestly can't say that Ubisoft has released a single game since their departure from Steam (or even earlier really) where I thought "damn I really want to play that".
Pretty much where I'm at, yeah. I used to love the Assassin's Creed games but I just can't bring myself to waste that much time on such a bloated, cookie-cutter experience these days, I value my free time way too much.

Of all the publishers that threatened or tried to fuck off from Steam, Ubisoft is basically the only one where my reaction is mostly just "Bye". They can stay on the EGS for all I care. I have no problem whatsoever just ignoring their games. EA comes very close but even they will occasionally release something like Mirror's Edge or Dead Space that I really want to play.

Regarding the issue with X-note and Train:Afterlife Steam revoked keys:

Piece of shit indie devs that can steal your shit after 20 years and piece of shit valve for letting them do so. Remove all indie trash from your wishlists and refund, cancel steam dicks preorders. And if in EU sue their asses.

If they gave you no money how the fck you sent them 25k keys, lol scum and filth.

I haven't really missed Ubisoft at all. I'm in the minority on this but I prefer the old-style AssCreed games because of their action/adventure formula. The new ones feel like bloated open world rpgs.

IMO the series peaked with Black Flag.
couldn't agree more

Great chance to beg for more steam ports and tell them to shove Nocturne's price tag up their ass.

i liked this part too

By using a game engine with high usability, won’t it be easier to expand onto multiple platforms?

Hiraoka:
We want as many users as possible to play our games, so depending on the title, we will try to expand the hardware options as much as possible. In particular, the number of people who play on Steam (PC) is increasing, and Persona 4 Golden (hereinafter referred to as P4G) has sold over 1 million copies on Steam alone. The knowledge of SOE (Sega of Europe) was very helpful in porting this game to Steam, and I believe that this also led to the extremely high user ratings on Steam. This was also a great synergy.

Downunder.
Jeez, this is expensive.
As far as XSEED/Marvelous releases go, it's actually less expensive than Daemon X Machina or Kandagawa Jet Girls -- at least in my region.

It's the same pricing tier as Mineral Town, Sakuna, and Fate/Extella. Still, I'll let it simmer for a bit in my wishlist. :flare_bath:

But this one is a remaster of a 10-year-old PSP game... Anyway, I will grab this down the road as Akiba is like my second home. I will never get bored at that place.

Seconding the recs ITT for Death's Door. Devolver Digital's nose for quality content is just insane!

Copped this on Series X for now (wishlisted the Steam version so I have an archival PC copy down the line/to support the devs); I figure my comments will still be relevant for Steam as it isn't exactly the most demanding game technically.

The feel of the combat is just incredible, and there's just enough variety thrown in there with hidden areas and Zelda-style dungeons to keep things from getting stale. Can't go wrong at the price its at, even without the launch/PO discount!

Just played the Samurai Warriors 5 demo. Well, it's musou. And it performs well enough, I think I'll give it a try once the full game is out.

My only complaint is the stupid chromatic aberration, didn't see an option to disable it.
Oh... oh God... you can't turn it off? Is it really bad?

I have it preordered on Steam, now I'm worried (after the disastrous Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and Nioh 2 GotY Steam launches, you'd think I'd have learned by now, but no I'm an idiot)

The last Ubisoft game I played was Might & Magic X, and they just shutdown the (DLC) servers and delisted it. Bastards. Oh, and South Park: The Stick of Truth was around the same time too. I can't say I've been tempted to play anything else since.

That statement though. It almost sounds like they're coming up with reasons to do something they want to anyway, but I have no idea if leaving Steam has been beneficial to them.

The game from Ubi I would have missed would have been Anno 1800 but luckily that landed on Steam right before they bailed. The next one that will bother me will be The Settlers whenever that releases. I would have bought Valhalla and all their stuff eventually though because hoarder.

I don't even mind using Uplay to buy games directly but Ubi redirects customers from my country to the EU store so all the prices are in Euros (literally the most expensive prices in the world). Which means I will wait for heavy duty discounts before I can consider buying stuff because Ubi games just aren't that good.

I loved Black Flag!
A few nitpicks though...

Why did every main mission on land have to be a boring tailing mission? EVERY. DAMN. MISSION!

The way the story drip fed you side content could make the open world experience a bit weird as well. A fort marked on the map that you couldn't attack, since it was the tutorial fort you attacked halfway through the story. You know, when you had already cleared all the other forts in free roam?

Otherwise, I totally loved the game and its setting. Edward is probably the best AC protagonist in the entire series.

I'm hyped for the Lego LAAT Gunship!!!!! I've always wanted one since I was a kid. But they were always too expensive. Now I can have one and also no new news about the Lego Star Wars game.

Dunno if it is just "recently". Getting a succesful IP, copying its model to other games until fatigue settles, then panic to find a new franchise to be ultra sucessful and repeat the cycle is what Ubisoft has been doing for a while now. Original AC basically made them do all open worlds with similar gameplay style, with the disappointments after Unity making them go into more RPG form.
They are also now basically "oh, Tom Clancy Division and Siege were sucesful? Means how valuable that IP is" and flooding the market with modern fps.

The curse of having good communication between teams (reuse of assets and development tricks). Its way cheaper to make small variations of the same games.

Maybe it got into a limbo when Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is being acquired by EA?

I agree, my least favorite part of any AssCreed game are the bland tailing missions. What I loved most about Black Flag were the naval battles. The game felt a lot like a pirate simulator -- you captain your very own ship, sing sea shanties, attack and capture enemy vessels.

I also liked how the modern-day story took a backseat in Black Flag. They gave us more pirate goodness instead :pirateblob:

Thanks prudis for tagging me with this.

This is from the latest Famitsu interview to Naoto Hiraoka from Atlus, this particular section of the interview is REALLY INTERESTING as he directly acknowledges Steam as a growing platform that has proven itself with P4G, it's really interesting because, and I might be reading too much into this, it pretty much says expect more ports in the future.

Do you read it in the same way? HYPE?!?
