They're a swedish investment group with a huge amount of money who iirc basically buy up companies with already established IPS and re-release stuff into HD/remakes get pretty much all their money back super quick because people buy it on nostalgiaI do not trust Embracer at all. Often seems like a scam. Like how can be they be buying so damn much all the time.
It's not an EGS exclusive!I didn't play the first one but I will probably get this one at some point. Of course, my policy still applies:
That’s pretty reductive, It’s not just nostalgia otherwise that’d be a pretty shit business plan since the remaster will end, they just release multiple medium-sized games which individually are profitable vs releasing a few budget-ballooned-AAA games with massive sales, among those are remasters but it seems more a way to revitalize the franchises before going forward. They're a swedish investment group with a huge amount of money who iirc basically buy up companies with already established IPS and re-release stuff into HD/remakes get pretty much all their money back super quick because people buy it on nostalgia
That's basically been what they've been doing
No mention of it leaving SE or staying.I have one question, did Embracer got Seeping Dogs?
Alexandros Don't think Rogue Legacy 2 was ever EGS exclusive. I've had it in my library for a year.
Yeah, Alexandros is mistaking it with Darkest Dungeons 2 which is EGS exclusive for its Early Access, Rogue Legacy 2 was multi-store since EA day 1
Thanks guys, I thought it was exclusive in early access, I did in fact confuse it with Darkest Dungeon 2!It's not an EGS exclusive!
Sorry for the late reply. I think you are right that Trigon flew completely under the radar for most people, incl.uding videogames news. I only knew about that game because the amazing guy of Gamingonlinux made a news post about it describing it just the way you did.I reviewed Trigon: Space Story, an FTL-like that seems to have flown completely under the radar. My review is literally the only review on Metacritic for the game. It's a shame because the game is actually very good, it's a carbon copy of FTL in most respects but that doesn't make it any less fun. If you want more FTL I recommend it.
Nah, they fixed the leakI have one question, did Embracer got Seeping Dogs?
Who will be the next THQ?Embrace the Future Mega Pubs
although, they are free of the incompetent Square....
yupWait? Square Enix is getting rid of their western studios?
They still have three western IPs to blame. So, obligatory question. Who will they blame now for not meeting their unrealistic targets?
MatsudaSo, obligatory question. Who will they blame now for not meeting their unrealistic targets?
ShacknewsSo, obligatory question. Who will they blame now for not meeting their unrealistic targets?
Blockchain, they sold western division so they can invest in blockchain. So, obligatory question. Who will they blame now for not meeting their unrealistic targets?
The only question remains is what kind of budget will Embracer let those teams play around with. If Microsoft or Sony bought them they would basically have unlimited budget with little risk because of Gamepass etc. Sony always goes big too.I'm not a huge Embracer fan, but even so I can't really see this as anything other than positive news for those franchises.
Garbage bamboozlingwhat was it?
Someone claimed new Deus Ex but it was bullshitwhat was it?
It really is. Someone will buy them up for sure, probably Sony.Square is such a failure of a company.
Square HAS TO be involved in some shady money laundering scheme or somethingSo, obligatory question. Who will they blame now for not meeting their unrealistic targets?
I mean, it matches their moneyhatting strategy. The weirdest part of this deal is how fast it went, I can't believe Microsoft or Sony weren't interested in those and could have easily had the money. So did SE just take the first bid they got?
Most of their big acquisitions are so recent that the stuff you're seeing was already far in development when the studio/publisher was acquired, but they've definitely got a bunch of good stuff.I'm not fully aware of everything Embracer owns, but have they released anything that was actually good? Not just "ok" but genuinely good?
Please god yes.Hopefully this sale means we can get decent remasters sets of the OG Tomb Raider games and the TR Legends trilogy.
